That was the original story, but they changed it so so Buzz falling was an accident and Woody was just trying to knock him behind the bed.

You know what theory's really depressing? Jessie's original owner in Toy Story 2 who abandoned her was Andy's mom, meaning that she was responsible for all that storage PTSD Jessie struggled with for years. Also, Andy's dad was actually the one who wrote "Andy" on Woody's boot. It was a present he gave Andy before leaving his mom when she was pregnant with Andy's sister. Andy never fully recovered from this emotionally, which is why he was so attached to his toys, especially Woody. They reminded him of good memories with his dad, making the whole franchise basically a metaphor for how children can be affected by divorce. Pixar refused to bring this up directly in the films however, because it would have challenged the family friendly tone and distracted from the plot involving the toys. Woody essentially loved and looked out for Andy so much because he carries the spirit of a father figure. This is a dark revelation, but actually explains a lot about the characters when you think about it.

When this movie came out I was 15 and the CGI blew my mind SO MUCH. My family and I all marveled at it - in my mind it's still cutting edge so it was weird to watch it now, something that by today's standards would be so basic it'd be a kid's weekly show.

Not picking on you, and I know it's common as pennies for people to post a quote from a video they are watching, but, it's seen by a lot of people as.... well... a bit simplistic. It shows no independent though, it doesn't tell us what you like about the line, and the real issue is, it's often seen as childish; if only because little tiny children are known for parroting back things they just heard that make them laugh. Not bashing or pointing fingers, I'm just explaining why the singular quotes seem to be garnering negative attention.

If you ever do the rest of the Toy Story saga, can you point out how Toy Story 2 and 4 have very similar plot points? There’s a mission to rescue a toy from a store. The neglected toy antagonist needs something from Woody for their own personal gain. Rex and then Buzz use the game manual/Buzz’s “inner voice” to guide them. The toys drive a car in the final act.
