I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 15 years and been singing since I was 16. I teach from my own studio and also teach and mentor via email, and online via Live & Skype. I specialise in teaching children, and teenagers pop and musical theatre but I am trained in all genres of music. It was very cool indeed, but not best in the last 10 yrs. There are lots like Russia 2016, Uk 2017, etc... that far out do the staging, but it was very good.

Mscape 7777 definitely the best from that year easily, so stunning to watch on a wide screen. Although that stage was very out of date, and the Uk bought a very hard prop to work with.

I've been watching the Eurovision Song Contest for almost 30 years, and this is the single best staging I've ever seen. It sets a new standard for how a Eurovision act should be. Australia deserved to win with this; we burst into applause at our Eurovision party after her performance.

momusicx She has some classical schooling which makes this not as difficult to sing actually. Yes it’s swinging but she doesn’t swing it I guess. What she does is singing on a moving thing. Trained operasingers can almost always even move (their own body) and sing at the same time.

@@draganvidic2039 she is moving it, like her dancers... The poles are controlled by their movements, not vice versa... Any singer knows expanding and contracting your chest and stomach through movement will make the song harder to sing...

I’m Australian and promise I’m not biased when I say this (I haven’t historically thought that our performances should win) but this song was just divine and I’m shocked it didn’t rank more highly - in fact, I thought it surely had a good chance of winning (though the winning song was excellent, no disputing that). This one just seemed to capture the Eurovision essence and was something a little bit different and of course so beautifully performed!

I saw her preform when she was 6 months pregnant. You could see Ernie kicking her at points in the show, and she still didn't miss a note. KMH is incredible.

And this is why she should have won! Juries dont know anything( We had an opera singer in the Greek jury and she ranked Australia 15th!!!) I understand public may not be into opera( although this is a brilliant, catchy and modern pop-opera song) but the juries????? Come on. Thank you for this reaction! You got a new subscriber! :)

Kate is incredible. the performance was vocally and visually stunning. It is easy to see how she came first in her semi... but she definitely deserved to win the whole freakin' thing! Her performance was far better than any of the top 8 :/

KMH is actually a classically trained opera singer and enjoyed recognition, before becoming one of our most beloved popular performers. Her and her husband wrote music and lyrics for the Muriel's Wedding stage show.

This performance is a MASTERPIECE !! When they showed them floating on earth 02:06 , I was like OH MY GOOD .. then she hit the highnotes at 04:38 .. I was like : YES QUEEEEEN ... and when we saw them on the poles at 04:53 I was " Don´t break , don´t break " .. Australia created the most ICONIC staging and the best vocal performance ever buy anyone !! ..

This for me, was the outstanding performance of Eurovision 2019, the mix of pop and classical, giving what I call the kate bush affect ie different and unique and then to perform on balance poles at the same time. Just wow

For anyone who has wondered the poles are made of a composite fibreglass in a Melbourne factory. It's a commercial formula that was designed for this contest. The two backup singers on poles next to Kate are from a theatre company in Melbourne. The song was co written by Kate, her husband [also a musician] and one other person.

She is a classically trained opera singer. Studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane. Saw her in concert 2 days ago. She is the best singer I’ve ever seen. She would have won Eurovision if she hadn’t been Australian.

It's so Wonderful to see and hear you review this entry. I just LOVED and still LOVE it. None of my friends did. And I tried to tell them how Great it was. So, beautiful to watch and to hear. And she' s so so talented. I just Love when opera mix with pop or rock. And this song. This entry was and i amazing! I'm a new subscriber, as of today. I wish I could sing. I tried yesterday. But I really can't go right way with the notes. I really envy those who can sing. But this song... I was Right about how Good it is!

I've been trying to get people interested in Kate for years, she's def one of the top TOP singers from Australia, way on par with Vanessa Amorosi IMO. She's so great. I love her.

Totally agree - Kate Miller-Heidke and Vanessa Amorosi - probably the best vocalists (songwriters too) from Australia that deserve so much more domestic and international success. They're both phenomenally talented and astonishing live. I would throw in - she's a little bit older now - Deborah Conway. So good live and her voice has such a rich timbre.

Yeah, that's what I just asked you to review yesterday and here you go! Thank you. I was blown away of her performance. Being trained for a few years in a semi-classical style, I noticed her incredible technique and control from the very first few notes she took. I would also mention the way she forms vowels, it's quite unusual. In some places her mouth is very wide, in some - barely open, which is hardly acceptable in classical singing (though almost all pop singers do the same - barely open their mouths). HOWEVER! If you look at that video on a big screen in 1080 resolution and pay closer attention to her neck, you'll see that her throat is all open all the time no mater what the mouth do! Means she really knows what she's doing and what sound of what form she wants to produce. It's incredible to see such technique in such a popy show. I wish she got higher place. When I've checked first 3... well... It's all about politics, really. But the guy that took the 2nd place just annoyed me, singing some silly song about money in a R&B or rap style, it's just so... cheap... low quality... I don't know, I can't find correct words to describe.

This is one the best performances of anything, anywhere, anytime. KMH is one of the most talented musicians on the planet. Don't forget - she wrote this song too! (Look up the acoustic version - she's playing piano and singing - different experience, still stunning.) Classically trained - she was in the Queensland Opera before quitting to turn to alt-pop music. Her talent is astonishing.

Kate Miller-Heidke was classically trained and is so talented. I haven't heard all of her songs, but many have some operatic singing in them. She's even done an amazing version of You're the Voice

Wasn’t a fan of the song prior to the semi final but the performance took it to another level. Uk Eurovision team really need to take note - sending a singer over to perform in black jeans and jacket with an average song really isn’t going to cut it.

Her vocals were a lot better in the first semi final! The camera work was also a little bit better in the semi final, especially during the climax of the song (when the Earth drops behind and they start 'flying' off into space).

The poles are kevlar javelin poles. Strange Fruit circus have done performances using them for several years. So if you have a friend who's an Olympian you might get a shot!

I have not watched Eurovision in years but a fellow songwriter from Australua told me to check her because the imagery was similar to my video Ethereal (light as a feather) basic idea and aesthetics and fairy flair, then quite a few others told me too and triggered my curiosity then it is totally different, mine is a very soft chill sing. she did amazing and the song is really catchy, and as I love fantasy was refreshing to see it represented. I was surprised she did not end in a higher position.
