Out of all of the Disney theme parks, Hong Kong Disneyland has probably seen the most change and despite being rather lacklustre upon opening, has quickly solidified itself as a highlight in the Disney parks lineup. Except for one problem…

As a regular at Hong Kong Disneyland, our Tomorrowland is indeed weird. Ever since Buzz closed, it really felt like a weird palette of combinations that we hesitantly still call "Tomorrowland"

they've butchered tomorrowland in california. except for indiana jones i can't think of anything they've added in general for like 40 years that's better than the stuff they've taken away and tomorrowland used to be special. they wrecked the awesome classic white orbiter with a hideous steampunk look they did for a couple weeks and there's so many vacant spaces. even the arcade. i'd take the old skyway or people mover over any of the rinky dink county fair BS attractions at DCA and i hate the star wars sequels so ultra fail.

“Thematically inconsistent” is the tagline of most tomorrow lands these days! It’s the only thing that Disneyland Paris has ever got consistently right (minus their own hyperspace mountain). I think the plan is still two separate lands, but they don’t blend well at all do they

I've said it before and i'll say it again: The MCU Avengers just don't have a strong enough design aesthetic to carry a theme parc land! You just end up with BORING warehouses and corporate office building. It's like visiting some social media's office in Silicon Valley or something. You want an Asgard, a Wakanda, a Knowhere, something SPECIAL. Not this mundane Stark Entreprise corporate synergy stuff. Avenger Campus looks like you wandered backstage and the Dr Strange corner is like a prop storage spot. If they want to do a Stark Expo they could theme it to the one Tony's dad made, and make it retro futuristic, where the flying car is just a 50s car with jets instead of wheels, that sort of thing.

Whatever they do, they shouldn't make another "franchise land". What can you do with Frozen Land once Frozen is no longer so popular? Remember, Sears and K Mart were once the largest department store and supermarket companies, respectively, in the entire world. Now they're both dead and change only happens more quickly now than in the past. I guess Marvel and Star Wars have more flexibility than that, but they still don't have as much flexibility as "Fantasyland" or "Adventureland", etc.

@@gabe6495Cars Land is a very particular case though, the reason why we love it is because of the detailed route 66 desert environment and american old town replicas , the franchise isnt what keeps cars land longevity its the land itself. you cannot say the same for avatar star wars marvel themed lands as well as frozen and zootopia lands are purely character and franchise driven which is why they will not age well, they keep trying to make something w the longevity of harry potter but its just not that simple

I would divide the land into two sections. I would build a Marvel E-ticket (the multiverse ride or something else) to complete the Stark Expo section. Then, use the white and blue motifs to create a clean, sleek space look for the front part of the land with Space Mountian, the Oribitron, and maybe add a new attraction. This would provide a consistent modern aesthetic, allowing it to be kept as one land or split into two. The other option would be to go all-in on IP. Commit to retheming space mountain and building out a Star Wars section, or make the entire thing Marvel.

The gag is Stark Expo works better than Avengers Campus, to me at least. I personally like it as an off-shoot / sub-land of Tomorrowland. My only critique is that there's not much to explore in the land. It's not designed for you to stroll around and soak in the atmosphere and that can only be remedied if they increased the footprint of the land.

This is what I would do: 1) remove the hyperspace mountain overlay. Perhaps add star wars in its own expansion. Something like a mini galaxy’s edge style land but themed to a different planet and perhaps a different time period to be unique from the original galaxy’s edge. 2) double down on the stark expo area, perhaps a “ technology showcase gone wrong ” stageshow of some sort as HKDL has good entertainment. 3) for the plot of autopia I would build a new mini-land. HKDL has many mini lands such as mystic point and now frozen so another one would work with the park design. I would like this to be Wakanda, they could take a plaza themed to a street in the capital. With a “flight of passage” style ride system behind a themed panther mountain. Perhaps taking some ideas from the quinjet concept. The entrance to Wakanda could be a portal behind stark expo.

I was just at the park yesterday; the park really feels to have suffered after the Panini. Tomorrowland seems so confusing with all their IPs, half of the land is Marvel, the rest don’t feel important unfortunately. Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Point are the only lands in the park where I sense genuine passion and consistency in the theming, would be interesting to see how that pans out for Frozen. The pace of construction for Frozen was hilariously slow, and shutting down the Disneyland Railroad drew away so much atmosphere from the park. Seeing the decorations and events held this year for Halloween made me think of Spirit of Halloween; literally plastic cobwebs and cardboard cutouts. Most of all, I feel that the cast members have suffered the most. Out of all the cast members I interacted with, 2-3 of them I felt genuine enjoyment and passion, and I feel that is the most telling to me about the state of this park and the company. Hopefully things turn out for the better for HK Disney, I am carefully optimistic about what Disney can bring to the table in the near future.

Hot take. I think it would be AMAZING if any of the TomorrowLand’s would rebrand/retheme to Tron’s “The Grid”. I keep hoping the grid will be a section in Epcot, but I’m not holding my breath on that. Lolz. But seriously, think about it!! If themed around the grid, it’s still very futuristic, so futuristic in fact that you don’t have to worry about it being outdated in a few years. And plus, Tron is an IP!! They love their IPs as experiences these days!

And I believe in case Stark Expo isn't coming, let's just redesign the entire thing and intergrade it into a very special land! Tomorrow Land will have the Autopia with longer, better and multi-floor tracks, inside Stark Expo with the unknown ride, and provide HKDL railway a new view to look inside the Autopia section. Autopia section can take the idea from Test Track's design btw, much more tomorrow.

Late reply but tbh (and this should have been done as a better tie-in to the Stark Expo) change Hyperspace Mountain at HKDL to Adventures thru Inner Space Mountain (being shrunk down and joining with Ant-Man and the Wasp) inside a snowflake and having to fight against Hydra (or some other Marvel bad guy) instead of retheming Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters. Though, conversely, I'm surprised they don't have the Guardians of the Galaxy here in HKDL's tomorrowland. Them being part of an overlay of Space Mountain would help reconnect the lost space port theme while also being connected to the Stark Expo mini-theme.

I’ve always dislike the whole technology convention theme that the Marvel attractions are going for, the biggest problem is how every building just looks SO generic. They’re like normal buildings that you can find anywhere else, especially in a city like Hong Kong that is famed for having the “metropolis” look. As a park guest from HongKong, I think we already have enough futuristic looking glass cuboids in our city.

To be honest the park was very overcrowded and very warm, but arriving at the Marvel campus the dissappointed was complete. I just started crying and realised that I really didn't wanted to be there and regretted very much spending all that money. Marvel is something that shouldn't be so prominent in the Disneyparks.
