It’s awesome you guys are covering Cantonese as well! Since I’ve moved away for university, my proficiency in the language has taken a major dip; just listening to these will help so much!

Naufal Modid They are tone markers for the phonetics.

Cantonese is a tonal language and there are six tones in it, so you can see numbers 1 to 6 that represent the tone of each word. Without the numbers, learners cannot pronounce the words accurately.
