They have definitely done some running changes to this model since this review, for example, all LEDs now light up when you turn it on, so I wonder if the spectrum has been a bit widened as well. Seems like a good unit for the price for sure.

I purchased this panel back in January and am very pleased with its performance. The Pro 300 has all the basic features I need for an affordable price. This is a well engineered, solidly built panel and the medical grade dual chip LEDs are exactly as advertised. Since there is no dedicated timer I use the Tibetan Bowl Interval Timer. On the recommendation of John Iovine 's book Red Light Therapy, I purchased Jackson Nemesis UVIR 5 shade sunglasses in lieu of using the included eye protection. Shipping was fast and customer service is outstanding. Thank you Alex for your comprehensive review and testing!

@@mikahundin Alex just put out a new vid today, March 4, that you might want to check out. After 13 months of use I'm very satisfied with the Pro 300. I've just bought one of these, and it was delivered yesterday. I realised after watching your review that my panel has been attached upside down to the stand. It still works and is actually more convenient because the cable is short, and I plug it into a socket on the left-hand side of the panel. I bought it primarily to help with mitochondrial function and insulin resistance. It's too early to say whether it is increasing my insulin sensitivity, but I have more energy than I've had in ages, and I felt I slept better than I have in weeks last night. The most dramatic difference, however, has been with my breathing. I had an accident about six weeks ago, which resulted in me getting a pile of MDF dust blown into my face just as I was taking a big intake of breath. Since then, I have had breathing difficulties and massive production of mucus to the extent that I have felt like I was drowning in mucus. After one session, front and back, for 10 minutes on each side, last night was the first night since this accident where I haven't struggled to breathe or been so full of mucus I sounded like I had the death rattle going on. Despite the stand being fitted upside down I am really impressed with the quality of this Hooga panel and think it is great value for money. I am in the UK and bought it on Amazon in the UK. It came with a UK plug and cost me £269.00. I have Prime membership so delivery was free for me. Just a thought about taking the stand off for hanging. There are 2 fans on the back so the stand would prevent you hanging it so close to the wall that it interferes with airflow.
@LightTherapyInsiders
@LightTherapyInsiders 10 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for sharing your comment! It will be fine operating it upside down. I have seen some recent studies looking at RLT and insulin sensitivity - it was discussed in our facebook group here facebook.com/groups/lighttherapyinsiders I'm so pleased to hear you're noticing such great changes (and so soon!) This technology really is a life changer. Did your product come with any rubber feet in the box? Often there are some in the box (or already installed) so if you hang it from a wall it creates an air gap for air flow.
@SueMoseley
@SueMoseley 10 ай бұрын
@@LightTherapyInsiders Thanks for the link, I've requested to join the group. Yes the rubber feet are attached at the end (the top, but should have been the bottom). That would create an air gap at the end, but there are no feet on the back, so if I took the stand off and hung it against a wall, there would be no air gap there. I find it really useful to have on a stand anyway, I'll probably never use it hung up anywhere.

The Holga 200 offers a lot of bang for the cost. The built in timer (10, 15, & 20 minutes) and the small stand are ready nice touches. The unit feels solid and well built. I use mine to expose my hands to light and it works very well for that. It's too small for a whole body panel, but for smaller body parts, it's ideal.

@@BobDiaz123 Hooga also is selling the 200 via Amazon now for $119. I just ordered it and sadly it won’t arrive for a month. Hooga answered a query about the differences between the 200 and 300 by saying the 200 actually had a higher irradiance and thus shorter treatment times than the $279 300. Seems odd, so just hope that was correct.

I have the full body pro unit and got it around Christmas. Been working great, really like it. Puts out lots of light and heat, want to get a second to help with workout soreness. One thing to note is I go in front of it naked and on my last blood test my t levels were 200 over my last test and the only change was standing naked in front of the panel. Also got their mask but honestly haven’t used it much and a blue light that I used to help with some break outs but I didn’t notice a huge change and the breakouts I think were from diet and dairy.

Hey Alex. Always appreciate your content. I know you're a busy guy, but I have a request. Even if it's down the track. I'd love to see a technical comparison in output, and nanometres, between the best at home machines and those used in professional settings. Think Healite II, Omnilux, Etc. Those machines are $20,000 plus, and I'd like to know how close the home machines are.
@LightTherapyInsiders

Hey thanks for the comment. The issue here is being able to test these devices. I live in a rural area in a small country, so I don't even know if these machines are in clinics here (otherwise I could ask to go and test them there). And at $20k a pop it would be highly unlikley I'd be able to get a unit to test for myself. I have looked at some of the specs of these 'pro' units, and there wasn't anything different to a top of the range RLT panel. Maybe slightly different wavelengths, and the power may be a little different - other than that you're paying for the branding/marketing and the design features. A lot of these companies probably setup there business before the consumer panels were readily available.

I just bought this panel thanks to your reviews and have some specific questions: 1) Should I use your irradiance measurement when calculating the time for my target treatment? 2) Would the irradiance be ~50% of the full amount if only Red or NIR is switched on? 3) For deep tissue work, should an even lower irradiance value be used given than only NIR will reach these depths and perhaps the additional tissue/distance further reduces the energy delivered? Thanks for all of your great information. I just want to make sure I'm using this in the optimal manner.

Hello Alex, thanks for your video, I have finally bought the HGPRO750 device, I have been using it for two weeks for myself and my family. One question for you: when we turn on both red light and NIR, for treating the face and neck, after a few days of use (use one time per day for 6 minutes of 10 inches distance), a female family member’s face becomes a bit darker than before, what is the reason of getting a darker face/skin?? Fyi, the female member does not have any skin problems, no melasma, etc. her skin condition is good before using the red-light device. We thought both red light and infrared can whiten and improve our skin/face instead of darkening our skin. What elements in the red light/near infrared darken our face/skin??
@LightTherapyInsiders

Hey, oh sorry to hear about this. So I remember reading a bit about this a while back but I can't find the article now grrr. Anyway I have heard that a very small % of people who use RLT notice changes in skin tone - again I can't remember the mechanisms behind this. What I would suggest is to try using the device with only one light option running (i.e. disable red and jjust use NIR or vice versa). And see how this goes. You could also put a post in this group - facebook.com/groups/309438166598699 someone in there may know more about this.

@@LightTherapyInsiders Dear Alex, it is indeed very kind of you to answer my enquiry, really appreciated your time and effort. I want to ask you one question: in your experience, if we use the device for our faces, to achieve facial benefit, e.g. to have more collagen, skin more elastic, face becomes slimmer and lifting, face looks younger, etc. Which light therapy (red light 630nm or NIR 850nm) contribute more to achieve all these facial benefits?? I guess it is NIR which contributes more for facial benefit because 850nm will penetrate our skin deeper than red light, but many say it is red light.......

Hey enjoy! So you can start seeing a reduction in benefits, if you really over do it you could see some negative effects (rashes, lethargy, headaches etc) but this will be hard to do with a small device like this. I wouldn't recommend doing it 2-3x a day. You don't need to do it more than twice a day. Most people use it once a day and have great results.

I always measure at 6". Every bulb is most likely lighting up because it is not a single-chip bulb. Often, companies list the irradiance measure with a solar meter; I use a spectrometer for more accurate results.

Hey, I haven't used the tri-field meter but I am told by experts in the field it's not that reliable/accurate. 5 feet away you should't be getting any reading. I'd say it's something else in the room (or something on you) that is causing this reading.
@3124flegma
@3124flegma 11 ай бұрын
@AlexFergusdotcom hmm ok. I only bought the TriField because of all the good comments from customers and because it was the best seller. But to your point about it being something else, it literally goes to zero after shutting the panel off. I'll hold the meter in the same place and powering the panel off and on changes the meter from zero to 100. Unless I got a defective unit. But both my 300 PRO and standard 300 do the same thing. The 300 shows less RF which makes sense as only half the LEDs are lit. Thanks for your quick reply though man, I'll keep looking into it.

Hey Alex, I have a question on different panels. I'm new to red light and love your channel. You put out amazing and very helpful content. I have a couple health conditions. Arthritis and very light psoriasis. I also workout a little bit and want to improve my skin as I get older (52). After watching a lot of your videos I've narrowed my decision down to 2 panels. The Biomax 900 or the Light path pulse. I'm kinda tech savvy and think I can get the hang of the light path pulse display/remote pretty quickly so that parts not a factor. I'm going to start with 1 panel and if I feel and see results I'm going to get another 3 for a quad complete body setup like yours. So my question is with my needs which one of the 2 do you recommend? I'll appreciate any feedback and help you can give me. Thanks

Hey, thanks for the comment and support. So LightPath have since upgraded their panel (from the one I reviewed last year) so that may influence your decision even further. I'm not 100% sure about the modular support though. I have a feeling that PlatinumLED is the market leader on this front (super slick to use and easy to setup). The Lightpath panels do offer a unique blend of light plus the ability to pulse that light. Which could be an absolute gamechanger - though the jury is still out on this. Hi Alex, I found that you are very knowledgable and even that you are checking wavelengths using external device which is superb! I bought a very popular lamp beurer IL50 but I'm super upset because I can't find accurate information about dosing. In the online manual, I found Max. Radiation intensity = 490 W/m2 at 30 cm. And I can't understand why it is so high ? In led's lamp we are checking mW/cm2. Do you have videos maybe were you are checking this lamp using these external devices as well? If you can help it would be great. Because I'm feeling like I'm stuck with the lamp that I don't know even what exact radiation intensity is and thus... I can't even calculate the dosage. :|

Hey. I just had a look at this device. It is a heat lamp - emitting Infared light with a much higher wavelength than NIR red light therapy devices. This is also why the irradiance figures you are seeing are so much higher than a red light device, I don't have this lamp to test sorry, but it has given me an idea for a video - looking at heat lamps vs red light therapy devices. I emailed Hooga and asked about this [the irradiance measurement difference]. They sent back the following info: ------- Thanks for reaching out and referencing Alex's video. Alex is awesome. I have not spoken with him directly regarding his irradiance measurements...but I would guess the difference in results would be using different measurement devices. We are using a TES-1333 Solar Power meter to obtain our measurements. Other companies all advertise their measurements using the same type of device (solar power meter). I'd have to ask Alex what type of device he's using to measure the irradiance. I also am not sure if Alex has both red and near infrared on when doing his test. Our irradiance numbers have both red and near infrared on. About 2/3 of the power comes from the near infrared, so if that is off, that could be the difference. I can without a doubt assure you, though, that if you were to test our panels with the same device as us (TES-1333 solar power meter) you'd be able to get the same peak measurements as us. Thanks!
@LightTherapyInsiders
@LightTherapyInsiders Жыл бұрын
Hey yeah like Hooga said - they use a different device to what I use. The gold standard way to measure irradiance would be through a laboratory that specialises in light testing. I use the same device for all my reviews so I can compare data points between panels. I have seen some lab tests and my data is quite similar to the lab data (only a few % different). have a look at this video for more - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7dxpbhq1rLNaJs.html

@@LightTherapyInsiders - In this review you indicated the Hooga Pro 300 Power Output (Irradiance) was 65 mW/cm2. Hooga reports Irradiance as 109mW/cm2 at 6” (using a TES-1333 solar power meter). Even if you are using different equipment, why do you think the the measurements are so far apart? The Mito Pro 300 shows Irradiance 130mW/cm2 at 6 Inches (using consumer level (solar) light meters). But all/most of your measurements, if I recall correctly, in your reviews show readings in the 50-70mW/cm2 range. It's great you're doing all your tests the same to allow a proper comparison. But I'm left a bit curious as to why there are 40-50 mW/cm2 differences between your readings and the reading reported by the companies themselves? Is it possible your equipment measures output per mW/cm2 that differently?

I haven't seen a review for the Mito table top, do you have one so I can compare the two? My concern is I have melasma and from my research I understand that for some people exposure to light therapy could exacerbate the condition. For that reason, its suggested (as you did too) to try it with either the red light or NIR -not both at the same time. I have 2 questions-would turning one light as opposed to both switches reduce some of the power/intensity? If I were to use it else where on my body ( injured foot) where I would use both the red and NIR would that still affect my face ? Thank you again.

And yeah if you turn off one light spectrum then it cuts all the power to those LEDs so the total power output is less (that power is not redirected to the other LEDs unfortunately). It depends on the time you use it for. You could do say a 45min yoga or mediation session in front of it - say at 1 or 2 feet away - and you will get a therapeutic dose yes. As you move further away from the light source the power intensity does decrease. So 5 mins at 2 feet away is not really going to be enough time to get a benefit given the distance (but 5 minutes at 6 inches would be plenty). Hey Alex, I have a table top from a company called Lifepro. I'm not sure after all my the reviews I've seen on other lights that I made the right choice a far as power etc. Are you able to do a review on that tabletop red light? I can't seem to get much info from the company on this. thanks

Hi. It looks like a generic panel - which means it will be hit or miss on a performance front. You really don't know until you test it. I try to stick to the bigger brands, but I will add this to my list :)

Hi-I bought the Lifepro and am considering returning it, to get the Hooga instead-wondering if I should choose the HG basic model or the Pro 300- the 300 model can be returned, but not the lower priced model… a little confusing.

Hi Alex! Have you tried the Hooga red light therapy bulbs?
@LightTherapyInsiders

Not the light bulbs - just the panel.

It would be great for someone to test the bulbs I’ve been reading and studying a lot, and looking for which panel to buy But I have two injuries on extremities Achilles tendinitis in a torn ligament in my wrist For these kind of injuries and treatment, it seems to me a smaller unit that you could set up well that the distance is correct shining on those injuries would be better than a large panel
