Many deer peacefully enjoys the evening cool on the road at nara park(Japan) Funny & Cute! 「

@@somedude140 Exactly. We'll likely never get to live in a place where animals trust people, because some of them ruin it for the rest, then spout off about how we 'need them'. In case it's not been mentioned yet, the deer may have gathered on the roadway to escape biting insects. It's evening, a time when biting insects tend to move around in small clouds (i.e. gnats, or no-see-ums as some call them, and flies). These insects will hang around a herd of deer for hours (why expend energy looking for more food when it's standing right there?). The easy tell for insects bothering a deer herd is the near-constant flickering of ears and tossing of heads, moving around, etc. At around three minutes into the clip, the deer settle more, there's less ear flickering, less moving around. Heat from the street also helps drive the insects away. As to why potential insects aren't bothering people, I don't have an answer. It was just a thought. :-)
@TheZombieslayer2002

"We" have taken their land? Don't be an idiot, William...The Japanese have been living in Japan...Side by side with the deer since prehistoric times....This is just outside the deer park, ya idiot...And they no longer have any predators, so their numbers need to be controlled. In 2010 a man was sentenced to six months in prison for killing a deer with a crossbow. During 2016 a record number of 121 people were injured by deer. In 2016 it was announced that the area around Nara would be designated into four different zones, with the outer zones allowing deer to be captured and killed. The culling started in 2017, with a limit of 120 deer to be culled during 2017. As of July 2017 there were around 1,500 deer living in the park, and at least 164 people had been injured by them in fiscal 2017-2018. Most of them were tourists feeding the deer. According to local folklore, Sika deer from this area were considered sacred due to a visit from Takemikazuchi-no-mikoto, one of the four gods of Kasuga Shrine. He was said to have been invited from Kashima Shrine in present-day Ibaraki Prefecture, and appeared on Mount Mikasa (also known as Mount Wakakusa) riding a white deer. From that point, the deer were considered divine and sacred by both Kasuga Shrine and Kōfuku-ji. Killing one of these sacred deer was a capital offense punishable by death up until 1637, the last recorded date of a breach of that law. After World War II, the deer were officially stripped of their sacred/divine status, and were instead designated as national treasures and are protected as such. Today, visitors can purchase "deer-crackers" (鹿煎餅 Shika-senbei) to feed the deer in the park.

This is a very unusual sight. In the US, there is so much room and wide open forests that deer are never forced into close proximity with humans, and pretty much all interactions with deer, roads, and vehicles involve the deer either nearly getting hit and jumping out of the way, or being introduced to the front bumper/windshield of a car. But in this video, the deer are like pedestrians just sitting on the side of the road, completely relaxed next to vehicles that their American cousins are terrified of.
