Horizon 7.0 AT Treadmill Review PART 2

The continuation of an ongoing challenge to have this treadmill brought back to working order. While i intended to review the treadmill, it turns out that i'm stuck reviewing the company and broken systems and processes they have in place. Should you encounter an issue. . . . it's painful. Unfortunately, i think it's far from over.

If you remove the blue cover located on the right side user with 2 phillips screws it will expose the wire harness which you should be able to push in and pull from underneath the treadmill. The wire harness comes in 3 pieces: lower, center and upper. The lower harness plugs into the motor control board which is the one that was unplugged in your video. Underneath the treadmill, the lower wirr harness has a black zip tie that is securing the wire harness to the elevation frame, you might need to cut the zip tie to give the wire harness slack. Once you have pushed in the wire harness from the top. You should be able to pull it from the bottom and plug it into the electronic board. FYI, keep the parts you received in case you ever need them, you will have them with you. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Thanks for your review!! I was really considering financing ones of these machines but it is definitely out of the question now. You have such a great attitude about this. I don’t think I would be that calm.

The cable can be longer or shorter belong to the user when they mounting the treadmill. If the user thread the cable wrong hole, problem will come. In this case, It may not the production issue.

I got the 7.4 four weeks ago, no issues with the purchase, delivery, setup and been using it 3 times per week as has the rest of my family....no compliants. Edit: I checked the cable after inclining the treadmill to maximum height, the cable has plenty of slack in fact it could incline another 3-4 inches without any tension on the cable. My treadmill is still running strong!

I have a Horizon treadmill and I love it! Johnson Fitness makes it and they have a lifetime warranty. The store "Johnson Fitness" delivered it and installed it. Nothing was third party. The people called from the Johnson Fitness warehouse and the treadmill was delivered in a big truck. Three people installed it and they were professionals.

Installers messed up. Remove the blue cover on the right and you'll see a tie holding the wire.

I just got the 7.0 AE Elliptical yesterday and the delivery guy knew it had a defect in the incline and said it'll need to be replaced. I already have experienced a lot of what you have. Chat is exactly as you describe. I called the delivery manager and left a message. I refused to go through what you have and if I don't hear back by noon, I'm calling the credit card company. Good luck to you my friend.

Update: After being transferred via chat to the warranty department, was waiting for 20 minutes and finally got support. They acknowledged it is a known issue and like you are sending me the part. They have also dispatched a technician and have provided a phone number to me in case I don't hear from them. I'll keep you all posted. I really hope this works out because I do like the machine. Oh and btw, I did called the credit card company and they are putting a hold on payment until this is rectified.

Update #2: I just got a call from the store where I purchased the unit. They have gotten approval from the delivery manager to swap the unit out completely with a new one where they know the serial number falls into the "fixed" range. Why they didn't just send me that in the first place is beyond me. My faith in this company may get restored.

Update #3: I got the full swap out of the unit today and all seems to be in well working order. I also realized that as incorrect the messages are on the chat, it takes about 20mins to get someone. Not only did they ship me the replacement part which I do not need now, they shipped me a software update on a USB. I will say my faith is renewed in the company and the store. Maybe with covid they simply couldn't handle all the support.

My treadmill arrived today! All assembled and less then 30 sec. Stopped working. Same issue man! As it inclined it stopped. What's update on this?

Hi Decline. Please help to confirm, when you buy this treadmill, was there a technician helped you to mounted the treadmill? or you mounted it yourself? Please confirm when you thread the cable into the console mast, did you thread the cable in the right hole at the bottom of the console mast?

I had the same exact problem with this same treadmill when I used the incline, cable was too short so it disconnected. I was able to open it where the little cable was located & was able to stretched the little blk cable with the pins just enough to reconnect it & lowered the incline to normal. Can’t use the incline anymore cause it will disconnect again

I wonder if this has been resolved. We have been using this treadmill 6-7 times per week for 6 weeks and haven't had any major issues. Delivery was late but that was the trucking company. My only issue at present is that I don't think the speeds are as accurate as they should be. Have you done any testing for the accuracy of the displayed speed? I am currently testing with a Stryd food pod, a measurement wheel and later this week will dig out my NPE Runn that I used on my previous treadmill.

Many treadmills are grossly inaccurate. I've been running for years on my old ProForm, and I was usually comparing the pace values using Garmin watch (treadmill option), Stryd and treadmill. Garmin showed me the best pace (I guess I'm waving my hands a lot), treadmill values were not too far off, but Stryd was consistently 15-20% slower than treadmill values. Not sure who to believe :)

@@predragsunjka9773 I'm seeing the same thing with the Stryd. I did several tests on the treadmill with the measurement wheel up to 1 mile. Both tests were within 1.5% of the wheel's indicated distance. The wheel itself is only +- 3% accurate so that has to be taken into account. Still haven't got the NPE Runn hooked up yet. Hopefully in the next week or so. I also did a measured distance with the Stryd outdoors and it was pretty bang on when the calibration was set at 100. So I am still confused as to why the Stryd is so different on the treadmill. One of the things I was also checking was for what my HR and power was on the Stryd when running outdoors at the same pace as on the treadmill. Values were very close so I think the treadmill is indicating a close value. My next test is to get my wife to hold the wheel on the treadmill while I run on it. It would be extremely disappointing if I discovered that the treadmill is 15-20% slower with me on it. The belt is not slipping and it is well lubed so I don't expect that to happen but we'll see.

@@predragsunjka9773 I never thought of that. I just asked and she said okay. I didn't push it though and only ran 1/4 mile. Wheel showed 1290ft. Again very close. So I am back to scratching my head over the accuracy of the Stryd indoors. I had to use 118 calibration factor at a 6min/mile pace during a workout today to get it close to that value. When I am running a recovery pace at 8-9min/mile then the Stryd is reading 20-30sec/mile too fast. Hopefully she doesn't smother me in my sleep tonight...

@@ngalai5548 Hi Nga, I didn’t pay the 150 is dollars for a technician I mounted the treadmill myself. For the wire harness you have to be sure to thread it through the side hole of the right arm and not through the bottom. I had to put some tap around the exposed wire before I started pulling it through the arm. Please note that the top hole of the treadmill arm is a circle and the harness is square so I had to firmly tug on the harness to get it through (make sure you take your time and exercise great patience). I didn’t have any help but if you do it yourself have someone help hold the arm. Once you get the harness through the hole you have to know sturdy the console to connect the wires. I had to be creative because I didn’t have a second person but again I suggest two people if possible. I can give you more details if you need it. Just let me know. Thanks

@@hendraiskandar yes the instructions tells you how to thread the harness wire, but it does not tell you how big/little the circle at the top of the arm is, once I got passed the wire harness the rest of the set up was interesting but surprisingly easy

I find it strange that with something that somehow just happened to you, or which many others figured out and resolved very quickly on their own, you are locked in to doing all this just to satisfy your "payback is a b!tch", butt-hurt feelings. I also can't understand how a purchase that "broke" in less than a minute, and one that is clearly not your fault given you paid to get it assembled, leaves you with no legal recourse other than to start an online series of "poor-me, let's shame horizon over and over". If you notice, majority of comments here are either, "mine works just fine", or "Thank God for the warning, I almost bought this machine too". My guess is that your target audience is the later, which means your tactic is working. At the end of the day, though, this still leaves you with a non-working treadmill, so it's not really helping you at all. I suggest you move on. Btw, I own this too and it works like a charm. Every time!
