Hornady Classic Single Stage Press This is a redo of the original video for this press. The priming system wasn't adjusted properly and I just wasn't happy with the result. Experience Level: Beginner

Outstanding! Everyone points to where it goes, but nobody shows us with it installed and how it works. Very nice! Thank you.

This is a nice setup exactly what I’m looking for it’ll be my first press an first time reloading I’d like to one day work my way up to a progressive press like the lock n load AP but not to start of with. I’ll be honest the only thing that was keeping me from getting this single stage press was the primer set up one at a time by hand but I had no idea they made an auto primer upgrade. Thank you for the video!

Thanks for the video. I just started reloading (like a lot of people, it appears) and its ridiculous how difficult it is to find out basic solutions to simple workflow improvements. All I wanted to know was how I could more easily load the primer cup. My clumsy ass has dropped about a dozen primers since I started learning the process. Now I know what to get! That positive primer add-on is the easy part. The tricky part is procuring more primers for less than what manufactured rounds used to cost.

Noob question. Would you deprime and directly prime the used brass right then and there? or do you wash them first with a media before you do that?

How would you remove a live primer can you do it on the press.

Does the primer seater on the press seat the primers lightly below the case or is it more flush with the bottom of the case.

This looks like a very sensible set up, I do like the lugged die holder design, far better than the awful wobbly design of the Forster Co Ax that I have, what size dies can you fit into the lugged adaptors ? I need to be able to carry the 1" x14 TPI dies which my Co Ax cannot take.

+Englishman French As far as I know, they only make LNL bushings for the 7/8-14 dies. They do have a conversion kit that will allow you to use LNL bushings in presses that use 1-1/4-12 dies. You might try calling Hornady to see if they have run across this before. Maybe they have something that will work for you.

Hornady Loader, I have an older Pacific press that I bought back in the early 80s and it looks very much like the Hornady Classic. I understand that Pacific was taken over by Hornady and was wondering if there have been any significant changes made to that press and if so what are they? Thanks in advance for sharing any knowledge you have on this subject. Bob

+robert austin Hi Bob, The Pacific single stage press became the Hornady 007 press when Hornady bought them and was later renamed the "Classic" press. As far as I know, there have been no major changes to the press since the Pacific Tool days. They even use the same primer feed system and plastic primer catch tub. There may have been some minor changes but nothing that would make the older version obsolete. If anyone else has some info for Bob, please enlighten us, but I'm pretty sure you basically have a "Classic" press with an older paint job.

I want to make this setup, can I use the auto-eject from online Fabrications at the same time I deprime and prime? So I can put a case and get it deprived, primer and in the bin? Thanks in advance
@PeterPetrakis6 жыл бұрын
Angel Perez It will likely kick the case out before the priming operation completes. The case kicker isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I use it when I'm resizing + decapping or flaring cases. I prime off press on my Redding. When it comes to bullet seating you have to run the ram up past the kicker and then insert your case + projectile. This dramatically reduces your working clearance and really only works for pistol length cartridges.

I noticed in the back of the video you have primer tubes attached to a holder of some type. What is it, if you dont mind sharing. The organization of your bench is remarkable.

+michael Kneale Hi Michael, that is a primer tube rack from Inline Fabrication. They make a bunch of cool press accessories for most brands. You can find the rack at www.InlineFabrication.com. Tell Dan that Hornady Loader sent ya! Thanks for watching!

Does the single stage come with the small rifle primer parts for priming.
@hornadyloader75748 жыл бұрын
+Robert O'Driscoll I believe you can buy it with or without the Positive Priming System. Hornady Part # 085001 comes with the PPS for both small and large primers. Thanks for watching!

I know nothing. That is why I am here. I have seen most reloaders deprimer, clean case, and then add primer. Why are you OK with removing a primer and installing where there is/could be dirt??
