I bought myself the Hornady Classic reloading set as a late Christmas present last year, and I've just had the box in my bedroom while I searched for powder bullets and the unicorn: Primers. After a year I managed to find the right primers (I think) and decided to put everything together and see what its all about. Only then did I realize that being a completely new reloader, knowing nothing, that the documentation that comes with the classic kit is not even enough to call terrible. So, to youtube I go to learn about the pieces that arent immediately clear to me. and about 12 or 13 videos in, I find this Gem! I now understand how to dial in my powder measure and for that I thank you!

I really like your vids. Anyone who has a Hrnady can learn a lot. I just watched this after having mine for 11 yrs now. There were no youtube vids back then. Yours was a nice refresher, I actually forgort how I set mine up. It's been pumping out thousands of 9mm every year flawlessly. I will say, I used an aftermarket universal PTX from "Powder Funnels" who has since went out of business. While mine still works great, I'm wondering if it will wear out and what I will replace it with.

One thing you didn't mention in your description of the powder measure is the little metal plate bent into a "V" with two hole on the edges that fits in the bottom of the powder measure just above the rotor. My understanding is that it should be installed with the "V" pointed up, and that its purpose is to provide a constant weight of powder above the rotor to improve the consistency of each charge.BTW, just installed the microjust device, and it really does make it much easier to adjust the amount of powder being dispensed.

I have been told by two different people that they have trouble with the micro-adjustable metering insert moving while they are dropping powder. They told me their hand would bump the insert and rotate it throwing off their powder charge. Have you had any problems with this happening to you ? I have the Classic LNL package and have loaded a few thousand rounds on it, it is a very smooth great press that I really enjoy. I wanted to up grade to the bench rest powder measure but after hearing this remain unsure. Thanks for any information you can share. Really enjoy your channel.

what are the exact measurements on the 10'' board you cut for the powder measure and what type wod did you use.i have a hornady lock n load powder measure that has the rifle rotor but instead of having a separate pistol rotor it has a pistol metering assembly that fits the rifle rotor.i bought it as new.it came with everything but the box.someone said it was from the first design.do you know about what year this was.i have learned a lot from your videos.i mostly have hornady loading equipment but I have a lee classic cast breach lock press.that I love and can not seem to part with it.thanks for the videos.

New to reloading, just getting my feet wet. Been loading 9mm luger FMJ 124g for a couple of weeks now. Your video really helped me understand everything about the powder measure on my Hornady LNL progressive press. For some reason though I am having some residual powder getting on the shell plate which eventually fouls up the primer indexing slide and primer seat. Any suggestions on what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for this video!!
