Hi this is my Hornby Class 08 with Zimo Dcc Sound and Custom Lights
The decoder is a Zimo MX648R Sub Mini Sound Decoder from Digitrains, details here www.digitrains.co.uk/ecommerce...
The speaker is a QSI 8ohm mini-oval speaker 14mm x 25mm from Digitrains

The lights are from ebay from a seller called stickswipe who makes custom DCC lights to order. myworld.ebay.co.uk/stickswipe
Stickswipe is also called LlangollDiesel on youtube / llangolldiesel

Love the sound of the squeeking flanges,Reminds me of many an old track around the Shieldinch depot in Glasgow where they used to store the APT when it was being tested and refined around the 80's. That is just one of the biggest mistakes BR made (out of the countless many) they should have persevered with that and Brain would have leapt ahead of many countries in the rail department as we did in the 1800's. Usual spend so much and when it came to having to dip in just a little bit more decided enough was enough. That train and even the 125's that still run and are probably (IMO) still one of the best looking trains in the world were at the cutting edge of technology available then. Another couple of years and they could have put a couple of ZX spectrum(lol)computers in the trains and they would have had at the time technology at the fore of what was around. Rant over

I'm so impressed with this that I have ordered a decoder from Digitrains. I might even get two! (Although I've got 4 08's - but have to watch the money, of course!!) Brilliant piece of kit by the sound of it. This is what's so good about these reviews etc on YT. Cheers and thanks for posting.

cheers.it does sound good tho.i have just purchased that hornby class 08 but i have just spent three weeks weathering it to how it looks now.you can see it in one of my latest videos.

Great video. Just building new layout in Dcc. Mainly shunting so have around 10 shunters. I liked your concrete area in sheets, I have a area around 10ft x 1ft to have flush track in roadways, how did you build yours ..? Any advise appreciated x Paul

Little query. Has the rear (front) coupling rod got a bend in it? Why is there a small square fitment on the other coupling?

As a kid always called the 08's the baby brothers of the class 20's. I never saw this in Scotland except when they were pulling freight,coal etc,but did the 20's doubled up or singly ever pull passenger rakes in regular service anywhere in the UK??

Don't think so... their max speed was something like 27mph. They did occasionally haul freight 'trip' workings on the main line e.g. from a yard to a factory/docks etc.

taffboyslim Are you talking about the 08 top speed 27 mph,as I'm sure the 20's can do around 70/80

Yeah I know what you mean. But Ive been dissapointed with the ESU stuff Ive had. it gets confused and out of synch sometimes. Have you seen the projects Paul Chetter has done with multi drive 37's on a zimo chip? excellent work.
