Just received my magnetiser. I’ve been demagnetising my fleet of Triang and older Hornby locos. Great bit of kit, easy to use. The amps are down and run a lot smoother on lower power. Highly recommended.

Very useful for remagging HD 2rail locos converted to run on 3 rail to make them run in the right direction.

Hi Ron, very interesting video, would this work on old triang magnets? I've tried replacing them with neodymium magnets, they are far too powerful.

Hello Ronald Thank you for making these videos. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my first Dublo loco, a decrepit Duchess of Atholl. I got it cheap on eBay, and I'm pretty sure I can get her going again. I have lots of experience with vintage Märklin H0 and also Hornby 0 gauge. I buy, repair and sell vintage trains, so Dublo is a new area I'm getting into. Having a magnetiser would likely be a good investment. I think you mentioned you sell them as kits? Hey Ron, what a good idea and so good to see all those venerable old ocos being well cared for! A while back I was persuaded to change to Super Neo magnets, certainly work but massively powerful and I feel cause cogging of the armature, locos run around 100-200mA. But i kept all my old magnets so I am tempted by your kit. How much is it?

OK, not scientific, but your screwdriver test on the block magnet chassis looks pretty close to the strength of the much maligned neo magnets. I daresay the Neos are indeed stronger though. Also, can you do the magnets out of the frame and re-assemble? It occurs to me that you could deliberately remag some of them opposite way for more interesting double-heading...

Hi Ron, thanks for the magnetiser kit. I have already done a few little magnets and re done my screwdriver, but it came into it's own after I had rebuilt a seized and unhappy HD 8F from ebay. Hi Ronald, Just allow me to say I am a complete novice and invalid living in the smallest flat I have ever seen no room for living ‘essentials let alone Railway Models cars landscape etc, so I ask all firstly not to deluge me with "Thats obvious" Remarks, OK? To me nothing is obvious until one takes part and actually fixes or builds or runs some of this gear. I mentioned I am a novice so let that suffice and I can only ever wonder at how anyone decides what Models they are going to use on an as yet unpopulated or even unbuilt Set of Towns etc. The whole thing, and the amount of different builders both ‘British’ European and world-wide is phenomenal --- so where to start? And here I am talking in general terms, where does one really start to figure how much space is necessary at its minimum and then how much space cane be utilised over and on the Tracks and Stations to build whatever "Towns" and "Cities" Canals rivers and sundry stuff like farms and their content etc. Absolutely fascinates me and though I know I can never have a set-uo and fantastic, or even modest arrangement myself, my interest NOW is piqued by the many MANY online Lay-Outs and their very kind and patience builders and operators and not least the home to which this all takes place and is the place everything take precedents as long at it is TRAINS or MODELS, right? Please forgive me here Mr Ronald Dodd, to start with the very basics - How do you run the power to the entire Lay-Out and know it is going to be ‘at least enough’ to complete any project one one has in mind. I think most people apart from Model Aficionados’ would not know the power necessary to run a single Loco, and does that power automatically step up to feed the very small but by scale pretty long goods Trains with many tens of wagons,for example? Well I did say I was a novice and I guess that is one of those questions maybe oftentimes asked by ’Newbies’ such as me. I have in mind what kind of ~ Hardware would one use to power-down and transfer the necessary power to each of maybe dozens of lines, does the ‘Cabling’ need to get progressively smaller one the tracks are powered or is it the trains that are powered? There is a whole lot of very basic detail here, and the world will not stop spinning for any particular not dealt with, OK? I am here and enthralled by the minutiae of all the layouts. I was a builder so understand the basic electrical layout of a home, though "3~Phase" does literally ‘phase me! Take care to you Ronald, and my best wishes to all. mrbluenun
