when the HST's were first introduced with the Paxman Valenta Engine. the exhaust used to blast quite a lot of muck up which then fell back in the slipstream made it coat the rear power cars windscreen. the Cowling was fitted over the exhaust to create a stream of air that kept the exhaust clear of the screen at the rear

Cracking model pack there mate. I have a new HST pack from Hornby waiting for me but I don't know what the livery is until I open it on the big day. Hopefully its this one or one of the GWR examples. I will be adding a driver into the motor unit of mine. Infact the HST is the best passenger train in the world in my opinion :). The Class 800 "Cucumbers" will never the comfort and the smooth ride of the HST did. They are still some around but they are short sets. EMR will be replacing theirs in 2022. At least 43089 and 43048 are now preserved with the 125 group :). Merry Christmas buddy.

Amazing what can be done with a little paint. Same moulded body that’s been used here for the past 20 years or so. No physical detail added to the old moulded plastic cast. Save your money. This class 43 is Hornby’s old rope repainted
