It's going to be hard, if the (old) engine doesn't have such a bridge plate...

If you are going to paint the "bags" then paint the dark brown. These pouches were made from good quality leather.

I'm a big fan of network rail yellow livery, this train pack is hard to get hold of, i have the later version along with the coaches, great review, many thanks for sharing.

Fantastic layout. I’m going to attempt this using the Hornby track packs A to F. I’m thinking of doing an industrial estate theme with freight trains.

Very nicely presented video footage. Unfortunately I found the loud pop music so intrusive I couldn’t concentrate on the otherwise clear explanation. If I want a pop video I’ll find one. Maybe turn the music volume down if you must have this music as well?

Man, you are very lucky to work with the Cathedral's express and have a ride on Flying Scotsman himself which I am actually referring to the Railway Series along with Thomas and Friends.

Hi, just FYI since you seemed to be wondering. The reason why it's only got "NE" on the tender rather than the full "LNER" was pretty much the same reason why It's painted black. Both to save costs by using less paint but to also by making it quicker and easier to paint by requiring less skilled workers to do the job. It's to bare in mind that all the lining and fancy lettering required some true skilled hands to get right, especially considering that most of it (if not all) was done free handedly !

They look the part detail wise. , but I’ve got to admit I love the TPO set from Hornby that is functional.

Insulfrogs have the plastic in the V of the points whereas the electrofrog are metal Vs. If you use electrofrog points you will have to have switches to power the individual lines off it i.e. sidings or all the engines will move. Insulfrogs remove that complication but often cause power transfers for 0-4-0 locos. Peco electofrogs are smaller Vs and better than hornby ones which have larger plastic Vs and thus more problamatic. Hopes this helps.

Really helped to think about converting my layout to dcc. Doesn't sound easy but do-able. Thanks for your well defined video. Cheers

I've just inherited so much train set from my dad. I've just dismantled it and now it's the hard part of making my own layout. I'm keen to use the DCC, a lot of his stuff is from pre-90's so about to go and watch some videos on how to do this with them. I did see a few of his sets do have either "DCC Ready" or "DCC Fitted" so will save me a little work. One question, if I make then DCC. Can they still be used on an analogue controller?

If you have plastic frogs and or insulfrogs and are having DCC stall problems check this out. It is better than ripping switches out and replacing them with electrofrogs. Cheep, easy, 10 minute, conversion. No wiring headache. Great video! The valances were removed to make it easier to lubricate and maintain the valve gear and also there wasn’t such a need for speed after the war, so valances were unnecessary.

I would like to see Locomotion Models produce the Stanier 3 cylinder 4MT and LTSR Class 79 via Hornby next year because since I am considering doing a layout of Southend On Sea and Southend East in the days of the LMS in the 1930s in 00 Gauge and since I am an admirer of former Love Island contestant Megan Barton-Hanson myself I would have the layout built for her to remember me by.

Amazing what can be done with a little paint. Same moulded body that’s been used here for the past 20 years or so. No physical detail added to the old moulded plastic cast. Save your money. This class 43 is Hornby’s old rope repainted
