HORNBY'S HM DCC 7000 SYSTEM - INSTALL and a BRIEF LOOK

In my usual amateurish way, I take a look at the HM 7000 system which I have installed in a HORNBY Class 31 and attempt to install in a HELJEN Class 17 with less than perfect results.

That was a good 'first look approach' at the Hornby HM7000 system, as any other modeller out here will come across the system, which made the video and the approach to the system easier to understand. Nice one with the noticeable price difference, quite necessary for some folks to use the DCC just now anyway. Thanks very much. Keep safe now. Cheers!

Well you cleared something up for me, I put this in my GWR diesel parcels car, and was confused by the 8 profile having so many steam locos functions, I was about to ask Hornby why. But now won’t, I will however change the profile to a full diesel loco! Thanks for your video!

If you had never seen one of these locos you would never know it was the wrong sound file! An annoyance with this DCC 7000 system is that it does not seem possible to create your own sound files. Thanks for uploading.

You’ve downloaded the class 08 SOUND profile but you have not downloaded the class 08 function map. That’s why all your functions actually relate to a steam sound profile.

Ah! That helps, I’ll do that, I was confused that so many diesel sounds weren’t there. I particularly like the cold start up, etc!

Was going to but not now as I have over 30 TTS fitted locos and this system with not allow the sound to be used on my DCC controller..

Looking at the list of loco sound profiles due for release over the next two years there is no class 17 listed. All available sounds will be for Hornby models. Still ok for fitting into Bachmann class 37 & 47 ect.

Guess I'm making do with 08 sounds though what I might do based on your info is swap it out for one of my other hornby 8 pin models and frustratingly buy a locksound 5 chip and speaker for the 17. There's the big catch with these cheaper Hornby chips, don't buy other companies models. TT-120 And now HM DCC 7000.

Good luck with using the silver plastic bag. It is that colour because it is an electrostatic bag that conducts electricity and stops the decoder from being blown up whilst in transit. Not so good for enclosing a decoder that is conducting electricity when it is powered up as the electronics can be blown due to shorting out. 🤨

Software. iPhone uses one software, that’s all of them, every single one! Android devices all use different software and so that much more testing time! You’re android phone may work already, it may not! Give Hornby time!

Sorry mate, I don't agree with that. The chips package says it is downloaded via Google play and IT ISN'T. So that is a false claim and why bring out a product that can't be used with Android OS. It's wrong buddy

I agree they shouldn’t advertise the Google app until it’s available. I think this has caused Hornby more problems than they expected. But being an iPhone user I’m glad they didn’t delay the roll out. A secondhand iPhone is still cheaper than a DCC controller. I’m using my old one as a dedicated HM7000 controller in the train room so it doesn’t get interrupted if anyone was to ring me.
