Unbox, Fit & Review of this new decoder. Am I dreaming. Find out right now! This decoder comes with a sugar cube speaker, wired with a male connecting plug and there are ‘stay alive’ plug and speaker aux female sockets on the decoder itself, making this a solder free experience if using the Hornby products, available soon. My TT:120 Flying Scotsman and Mallard have a speaker, already installed and connected to the motherboard that is screwed inside the tender so, just clip DC blanking plug off and click this one back in. You don’t need to connect anything else. You don’t need to plug any speaker in. See video.
Decoder Dimensions 28.5mm x 14mm x 4.7mm
This Bluetooth decoder comes with pre-installed steam sounds that we’ll have a listen to, once I’ve fitted into my A4 Mallard. These are not A4 sounds, they are just various steam sounds, to get an idea. Once the HM7000 app is available then, I will download the A4 sounds onto the chip via my gadget, no programming track required with this decoder. If it were an A1 or A3 then I’d pick those of course.
If you’ve ordered a Bluetooth Sound Fitted Hornby Locomotive then it will come with the correct sounds on the decoder, that is factory fitted. You will be able to change these, should you wish, via the free HM7000 app as well. Hornby will add to sounds available, as time goes by.
Part of the innovative new HM7000 range, this Next18-pin Bluetooth® and DCC sound decoder is perfect for getting newer Next18-pin Hornby locomotives working on the HM7000 system. This decoder also has sound capabilities, the perfect pairing to a loco with a pre-fitted speaker or even for locomotives that can fit a small external sugar cube speaker.

As others have said Andy, you are a breath of fresh air on KZfaq I’ve only recently come back to the hobby, lured by TT120 & the promise of HM7000 and I was a little taken aback by some high profile model rail KZfaqrs attitude. Keep up the good work

That is a really lovely thing to say. Got lured by DCC Sound when it came & now TT:120 as well, from word go. Did TT:120 Part One, as everyone seemed to be ignoring it, well, at the time. When I looked at scale & gauge, really began to feel that others, really have so much to give, share, have so much integrity, passion & love for this great hobby & the real thing too and, that this, isn't always reflected back, in the same light. Good points! Pardon the pun.

Christopher, I’ve noticed a very similar attitude towards TT120 by these KZfaqrs, personally I think they feel threatened by the idea and how it will affect their “position “ in the hobby as they are no longer “experts “ as this is a “new” scale.

Andy, thanks for sharing this with us and in such an enthusiastic manner. I have one of the digital trainsets on order but assume that I will have to wait a while for delivery. Had I realised that fitting a sound Next18 circuit was so easy, I would have bought the analogue version first. When you say channel 30 I assume you mean that CV1 was changed to 30? Bit disappointing that it is not not a true A4 sound that is very distinctive, especially the whistle. I certainly hope that my A4 set I have ordered will have the correct decoder when it arrives. Ah you talk about downloading the correct sound, that sounds like a pain, hopefully will not require lots of added stuff and will work on my Old Mac.
@modeloco
@modeloco Жыл бұрын
Hi John, There’s a slight misunderstanding here. Channel 30 on my Elite controller, meaning the channel address number, not a CV setting. For example. All my OO locos are on channels 1 to 30 and TT:120 trains are on channels 30 and above, as I add them. The sounds on the decoder are pre-installed on the decoder out of the box when bought separately and not already in a sound fitted locomotive. Once the free HM7000 app is released, I can then , quickly download the correct loco sounds very simply, onto the Hornby Bluetooth decoder via my gadget/s. If you’ve ordered a sound fitted locomotive with the new Hornby Bluetooth sound decoder fitted in the train, within your set, then the locomotive you’ve ordered will have the correct sounds already on the decoder. You can of course add sounds or, change them too, if you want at any time via the app, once released. I can’t get the correct A4 sounds yet, as the app isn’t available at present. These are the ones already programmed on the separately sold bluetooth decoders from Hornby so, not necessarily anything like an A4. It’s just to get a basic idea of sounds. Hope this clears things up 🤞

Yes, thanks to the support from others, like your good self. A very different ball game talking to camera rather than say, a live audience. Watched this… kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kLJihc1yyp_dh40.html about a week back and it touched me very deeply indeed. Not just the great layout, though that’s a joy. The narration, music and sound too. This man was obviously very content and happy despite the changes and times gone by. He caught it all so beautifully like Pendon Museum and my gift to you and others. It was like unplugging back to a time and period when there was a milkman whistling the latest chart hit and chinking his bottles. Where the music had an innocently exciting tone about first love. Old men sat on their park bench like bookends and Mr. Johnson went for his Sunday papers in his Sunday best, awaiting Monday Monday on a sunny afternoon and Miss Millers washing was naively blowing in the wind as the times they are a changing rang out from a passing Hillman Imp.

@modeloco Жыл бұрын
@@kalicom2937 I come from the OO camp but, dabbled in British N Scale as a teenager. Do try not to have expectations & that, applies to all areas of life, as it usually brings in its bag, regret & disappointment. Take this video for instance. I recorded the Loco Sounds with a Neumann U87 but, there'll always be some compromises in the chain of equipment & algorithms used to get these sounds over to you. Tambourines are always a challenge to record, due to their high pitch frequency & this, would also include say, a whistle sound. My expectation would want more from what I got on this recording so, yes, I could have booked out Abbey Road to do this or, used a U67 mic for a few grand more and so on. You can't beat the real thing & I'm not John Lennon
@kalicom2937
@kalicom2937 Жыл бұрын
@@modeloco Very good points well made. I was trying to suggest to the original poster that if you are from OO you generally have more space for bigger speakers which, of course, sound different to the ones you can fit in TT or N. I had not thought about the limitations of the original sound recording you made - or, indeed, considered whether the OP was listening on a cracking set of headphones or tinny monitor speakers.

I will be be going full HM7000 and am waiting for the locos, chips etc. Sounds great. Two questions: Has Hornby managed to squeeze a full set of valve gear under the valances and did you have to connect the speaker to the chip with a tiny plug, or just push the chip in the socket? PS always try and couple on a straight the new couplings self centre and don't like coupling on curves.
@modeloco
@modeloco Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your questions 1) I’m not really sure of what the full set of valve gear would look like 2) the speaker connects to the underside of the motherboard, via two spring steel tabs under the four screws that hold the motherboard, where the chip connector connects. You don’t have to connect anything, just plug chip in. The sockets are for the plug equipped speaker included if, putting this decoder into another loco that requires this. See it as like an aux connection route, plus, the plug is better than soldering wires if so. Advice taken on coupling yes. Just a thought on having numerous HM7000 chips as, that would be quite a lot of Bluetooth, as mesh tech is constant not, spasmodic as on battery powered gadgets. I’d like to see an option to disable Bluetooth, if you desired.
