When I was a kid, finding one of these guys was like winning the lottery 50 times. lol. We always let them go free.

Beautiful little creature. I love the way he seems content to just hang out in your hand. Maybe he's drawing a bit of heat off you, or getting something else out of the relationship!

It was so hard to let him go. Probably the last time I will ever see one of those again.

alex perez My brother and I used to catch and release hornytoads when we lived in Mission, TX in 1989/90. They like belly rubs, too!

It's likely doing that to regulate it's internal temperature. It doesn't want to get any hotter.

That's very cool. As a kid, 50 years ago, I found one and kept a couple of weeks before I released it. This was in Southeast Texas. They are so colorful and pretty.

Thanks for letting him go. They don't keep well in captivity because they are extremely picky eaters and they're endangered. I love how they look like tiny dinosaurs 😄 I haven't seen one in about 15 years 😱 I hope they're not all gone.

Wonderful!! Thanks for sharing! I am hoping to see one someday in the wild. Love these special little creatures.

He was gentle in your hand but puffed up and jaws agape. My suspicion is that he may have been seeing his reflection in the camera lens which was reflecting a puffed up lizard. Likely the aggressiveness was more towards the reflection than you which is why he was content to sit in your hand. Just a guess.

I used to have one! His name was Spike. I was just walking down the country road when I thought I saw a toad. But then it hit me.....toads don't crawl they hop. I kept him for so long but when winter hit I had to let him go. They are such amazing animals!

I have some that live in my backyard and i sometimes catch them to say hi and then release them. We have a lot of black ants in the yard so whenever I feel like saying hi I’ll go to the mounds around noon on warm days and I’ll usually see one feeding. I know exactly where they live too. My backyard pets

I found a baby one probably the size of my thumb. From the knuckle of my thumb to the end of my finger nail. A really small toad. I want to keep it so badly but I think I should set it free. I've been feeding it. Idk what to do.. it is so cute tho. I picked it up on my finger and it was wagging its tail like a puppy. What does that mean when they wag their tails? I don't know if it was happy or scared.
@FlacoChingow7 жыл бұрын
Bruh It's Lizzy I would let it go. They are endangered and really hard to take care of properly because of their diet. I love though. I used to catch all the time when I was younger.

The Texas Horned Toad. It is a beautiful lizard, if you do find one don't hurt it they are going extinct. It is a harmless animal. They love to eat ants. If you catch it please release it.

Greedy people are responsible for the disappearance of this iconic creature. All they saw was a way to make a couple of dollars. Caught everyone they could and sold them for pennies thus driving them into near extinction. See one be privileged that you saw it and leave it be. Let others enjoy seeing this ant eater.
