Heavy rain in southern Brazil has led to devastating floods. Nearly 70,000 people have been displaced. The death toll is at least 57, but many more are missing. Storms battered the state of Rio Grande do Sul and wiped out homes, roads and infrastructure across the region. A hydroelectric dam burst its banks, leading to more devastation. State authorities say the level of rain should subside over the coming days, but added that river levels were expected to stay high.
