I think the guy represents an individual stuck in a toxic relationship, and the monster represents the toxic individual. The girl represents people that he loves, like friends and family, and the monster eats these people because it wants the guy for itself. It's pretty common in toxic relationships to isolate the partner and make them feel as if only they can love them. The ice cream thing represents the idea of, although the monster is exceptionally toxic, they still do feel love; the problem is that they don't know how to properly express love. The girl and guy's relationship also represents that you have two options in a toxic relationship: you can stay in it and "die," or you can leave and become stronger and learn to love someone who will treat you right once you learn to love yourself. This is just my thoughts about it, though, I'd love to hear what others would add onto this.

Apart from the forgetting how knifes work and basic human anatomy unnecessarily towards the end, this was a pretty awesome short. The part were she has made it outside the first time and he tries to coax her back by saying he accepts her history and to think about if anyone else will... It was delivered so casual and subtle at the end of that scene it was brilliant! There are these little slips of manipulation that abusive people display that help them slowly chip away at their victims, insidiously laying snares so artfully most don't realise before its too late and they are trapped by them. That scene put a chill up my spine enough to yell at my monitor. So yeah, wd.

I think the man and the monster were two sides of the same person, and that the main character is representative of a person in an abusive relationship. At the beginning, the man seems sweet and likable, and many abuse victims have said that the beginning of a relationship with an abuser often seems great and normal. But, when his obsessive behaviors start to show up, the main character starts to catch glimpses of the monster here and there, and when she tries to walk away, he manipulates her with the often used abusers line "If you go, who else will love you?" taking advantage of her insecurities. The man and the creature are really the two sides of how the main character perceives the man she's dating. In order for her to escape an abusive relationship, she has to kill her perception that he was ever sweet or loving to see the monster behind the illusion. I also love how the man mentions that he "can't stop falling" and that if he doesn't, he'll "starve," alluding to the fact that a lot of abusers have a misconstrued understanding of love and treat it like an addiction, or something that is consumable. They try to force other people's love in order to feel satisfied with themselves. And escape, for the main character, means facing an extreme amount of pain and trauma as she literally "cuts herself off" from the relationship with him and runs away. And that last shot at the end isn't supposed to be sweet. It's supposed to show how the abuser's true nature will continue to feed the illusion that he's "really just a normal guy" to continue fooling the rest of the world, even when his secret's out.

Her hand shows what she had to let go in order to leave the “toxic relationship”, a piece of herself that she’ll never get back. And he was probably emotionally unavailable or something. He falls in love but then his charm wears off, his true self (aka the demon thing) shows which has possibly harmful habits. So he only reveals his true self once he’s in love (hence why he said the demon was proof he loved her) but he has harmful behaviors in the relationship that show themselves later on and end up hurting each woman he’s with. That’s what I got out of it, I liked this short!

Okay.. but the actors, are SO good, the script is SO good, everything plays off so natural. Love the sets, the lighting, the background music, the colors of the characters costumes playing off eachother (pink and blue). This is so good. The casting and delivery of the dialogue is my favorite, I hope I see this writer and these actors in other projects, I love this one so much.

I love this channel, not for the horror aspect, but the messages that are in these short films. A good film always has a message or symbol that has a deeper meaning. Most horror films don’t have these messages or symbols so they really aren’t that interesting. THESE HOWEVER have amazing life lessons and messages that the world should know about. I think the monster are his own abusive tendencies. The lies. The way he tries to paint himself as the only guy who could get past the "accident with the kid". His proof that he loves her is something that will hurt her. The thing with the ice cream is maybe him comforting himself after doing something really abusive. I think he really is a serial killer. He's been killing women he loves. She escapes and asks the man "do you love her?" And when he says yes she goes "not as much as he loved me". It's very common amongst abuse victims. After they get out of a really terrible situation they only remember the good parts. Idk, it just makes sense to me.

I’m only 4 minutes in, but this is a very realistic portrayal of a date between a new couple. He’s satisfyingly odd in a normal guy sort of way...she’s intelligent enough to feel something is a bit off...but she’s also perfectly self-conscious to still fall for his compliments. This does not feel forced at all. Also, you can clearly feel her disquiet. She can sense that *something*...isn’t right. But she doubts her own intuition.

This was incredibly good..made a person feel happy, sad, angry and scared. To me that's what makes a good movie/short..when it can make you feel all of the above.

I think there was a deeper meaning behind this. People hear the word love and tend to get attached at that moment. the monster symbolized the mans need for love, possibly due to past experiences, but also abuse in a relationship. The handcuffs showed how she was locked into the relationship and seemingly couldn’t get out of it no matter what was happening. she overcame her abuse and ended it, literally. When she’s on the ground, she mentions how the man doesn’t love the woman as much as the guy did. this also shows how abused others in a relationship take it as love.
