The problem is that these horses are expected to put up with a lot of people who do not realize how dangerous an over 300 lbs horse can be when it is crowded by people with no experience with horses. I commend this guardsman for doing the correct thing for his horse and the general public.

@@veronicawilliams7427 The way I am looking at it is that the guards are doing their job, granted that their job is not actually to guard the palace but pageantry to please the national and international tourists. But it is a job! And one that demands the willful collaboration of a horse! That job should not require to submit to the imbecilic whims of the tourists. When Charles III will be crowned, I am sure that there will be plenty of pageantry to satisfy the public done while keeping the public at arms' length. In this case, given the stress tourists put on the guards and their horses, I would suggest that the public be firmly required to stay outside the bollards and do not touch either the guards of the horses. Hell, when one visits a museum, one is forbidden to touch the artifacts! Why should a similar rule not be made with regard to the guards and their horses.

That guard handled things as well as he could in the situation. Horses ain't cars - they've got minds of their own. The doofus in the hoody that tried crowding in - and then didn't have the brains to get out of the way when things started REALLY going sideways - ought to be thwapped with the flat of the blade a couple times. Publicly. Some people are just plain dangerous to have around horses.

The Guards 💂‍♂️ and the horses 🐎 do an amazing job at accommodating all those people touching the horse, getting photos, talking or laughing loud around them all day. Grew up on a horse stable. Guard did a really fantastic job. People need to realize these are not static displays. That is an Animal, a trained one, but still an Animal. How clueless and blind does a person have to be not to notice that the horse is agitated and trying to touch him is a bad idea? I hear these horses are highly trained professionals, so it must have been really a lot to make the poor beast react like that. Much respect for these soldiers, both human and equine.

I can’t believe the stupidity of these people. This is a huge animal who could kill or seriously injure someone but they treat it like it’s a puppy or kitten. They didn’t seem to care that the guard was doing everything he could to calm the animal down by backing him up into the guard house. But at least it was one way of clearing the walkway. Idiots can’t even read the sign. If you’ve ever been bitten or stepped on by a horse I guarantee you would have more respect for these magnificent animals!

Most people are come from an urban environment and have no experience with horses. Most seem to mean well, but have no clue. As for the entitled types…enough said. My now retired hubby had a 40 year career in policing here in the USA, including working as a mounted police officer. We both like watching these videos…it’s not an easy task to deal with the public. It’s hard on the horse to stand surrounded by so many people for such a long time. They are prey animals who feel much safer in a herd. They are are also intelligent and can become bored just like we do. The training of horse and rider is very impressive.

I've watched this one several times. The hoodie guy was making some hostile statements, and that is why the guard told him "do not speak like that." The hoodie guy went over to the police to get them to come into agreement with him and cause problems for the guard. I hope that tactic did not work against the King's Guard who was working hard to bring his horse back under control. It was clear that the horse was stressed because of the drumbeats from the protest march.
