Here's a bit of fun, set to C&W soundtrack. Came off a race night DVD. What can go wrong in horse racing? Watch this and find out. Good fun.

Sincerely hope all survived unscathed as sadly just because a horse runs away following an incident doesn’t always mean they are ok. However I think questions need to be asked about the racecourse conditions at 2.23 as unusual to see two horses slipping as if they were a car hinting an oil patch.

Are Jockeys a race of people who have been bred over centuries to be as close to dwarves as possible without actually being dwarves? Do they all live underground or in hollowed out trees? How much do you have to pay to buy a jockey on the black market? What do you feed them? Do they get angry when they are domesticated? Once you own one how do you set up your home to make it seem like their natural habitat? What is the best way to discipline them if they don't do as they are told? Once they get too old to ride can a veterinarian put them down (euthanasia) or do you take them out back like Old Yeller and put one right between their eyes? So many questions about these strange creatures. If you guys could answer a few it would be greatly appreciated.
@Zebra-dogs6 жыл бұрын
Hi! So the gene that makes Jockeys is recessive, meaning you'd need 2 copies of the gene to make one! They're not actually dwarves and get quite angry if you compare them to a dwarf. They can live in your own home with you but a wilder one may not want to leave the stables. You can buy a cheaper Jockey for about £24,000 but the better they are the more expensive they are! They have a very specialised diet as they need to stay below 120lb or they get grumpy and won't race, lot's of healthy veggies and lean meat, watch their calorie intake. When domesticated they are significantly less angry and much easier to manage, they'll perform better in races and will like you more. Make your home as much of a stable as you can, very rustic with some dirt or hay around the area, they do need a bed but if needs be you can use hay and blankets. If they stop listening take their whip from them and use it. After a few incidents any old jockeys have to be sent off to an old farm to become instructors, it's now no longer legal to euthanise a healthy jockey even if they are old Hope that answers all your questions! x Jockey Tamer

See if you can name the tracks each one is at, I've got few think with some that might be so familiar now in looks. 0.12 is at Fakenham, 0.26 is Worcester or Nottingham before it got rid of Jumps, 0.54 looks like Leicester, 1.26 is Thirsk, 1.30 Perth, 1.52 Warwick, 2.17 Wolverhampton, 2.56 looks like Wolves before floodlights took over (I like the dog). Some I'm not sure about.

If a horse is planting his hooves, deep into the grass, and not wanting to go into the gate, then you shouldn't force him/her/ There's obviously something the horse is trying to tell them by not wanting to move. Pulling and pushing a horse will only make them resit more. Hmmm...seems like taking part in the race is all that matters, and not listening to the horse. If the horse doesn't wan't to race, don't force him. On another note, it was funny when the horse bopped the photographer on the head with his chin xD

lighten up people! nearly all of these clips are funny because they are silly little mistakes. stop saying the horses could have been badly hurt- every time you turn a horse out in a field it could slip and break a leg. and stop saying horse racing is cruel- the sport isn't cruel its just some people in it. and horses love to race. if they didn't then they wouldn't.
@DeeCoreONE9 жыл бұрын
oh yeah... especially the horse at 0:51.... it IS animal abuse. and the horses ARE just a thing. it`s all about the money. stop telling these lies. it makes me sick. 30% of racing horses die in the first 3 years of their life - to hard injurys. that are "little mistakes" for you - but it means slaughter house for the horses. therapy by a vet? too expensive. slaughter house. yea, they realy love their horses... by the way: a slave loves to work. if he didn`t he wouldn`t...
@emali1119 жыл бұрын
if you want to talk about cruelty in racing maybe look at all the horses who were bred to race and never made because they weren't good enough. They're the horses who suffer. The ones who have talent or they hard are the ones who get looked after and treated well. These horses mean a lot to the people who care for them. The horse at 0:51 has a blindfold on to encourage it to go forward. Are they hitting it or punishing it? No. And calling a horse a slave is the most ignorant comment I've heard. A horse can have all the talent in the world but without the enthusiasm, it won't go very far. Horses are strong and intelligence. At the end of the day, you can't force them.
@DeeCoreONE9 жыл бұрын
emali111 i NEVER neet to use blindfolds. neither when the vet is there nor the blacksmith ore something else. its all about trust and these horses DOESN`t trust. they hit their heads high, lacerate the eyes, open the mouth all the time... it`s horrible to see for everybody understanding the natural behaviour of a horse. it is cruelty and i don`t discuss any more with people calling this "sport"
@thomasfaltejsek9 жыл бұрын
emali111 Your logic leaves something to be desired.
@emali1119 жыл бұрын
Thomas F how? most of the worst injuries I've seen have happened in a field, out hacking or riding in an arena. Accidents happen any time, any place so you can't just put together a three minute clip (in which there seemed to be no serious injuries to horses or riders) and use it as evidence to judge a sport that takes place every day of the year.

@really tallmidget Actually I'm 14, been riding my whole life, and live on a ranch with 57 horses and loads of cattle. I do bolth western and English dicaplines, jumping, gaming, pleasure, reining, roping, dressage and cattle sorting. And I've gone to state 3 times and to nationals once with my horsebowl team ( competition based on all levels of equestrian knowledge.). So yes, I am a horse person.
@pipersullivan36047 жыл бұрын
horsegirlsammy48 *coughs* ahem doubt it.. Who cares if you have cattle, or horses, or your fake as hell sports... I have 6 horses and I only barrel race, pole bend, and show jump on 1 horse. Hell, I didn't have a horse for the longest time, but yet, I still knew more about horses then anyone could imagine.. It doesn't matter on what you do or what you have, it matters on what you know Plus, it's both and discipline.. Learn how to spell before you decide to talk like an adult lol
@horsegirlsammy4811 жыл бұрын
@aimee equestrian Just because a horse keeps going, doesnt mean they r ok, I have a horse that got hurt and had a bone chip and a bowed tendon and we didn't know it until a month later, even though the vet didn't think he was hurt. U can't always tell right away if a horse has minor or even major injuries. I think I would know as my uncle is a vet and farrier...

Don't want so sound mean but I can tell that you are not in the racing And many of these horses are retired or turned in to school horses , and if they weren't okay they wouldn't run.
@merryhunt91534 жыл бұрын
This is nuts. Why can't people just buy horses and enjoy them as companion animals? These riders risk being paralyzed.
@karenblackadder94464 жыл бұрын
There is no sadder sight than a single 'companion' horse stuck in a field, mostly ignored by it's so called 'loving owner'. These are the ones that end up in rescue - If they're VERY lucky!
@emmabesko41244 жыл бұрын
Because unlike your cat, they need exercise, and riding them is the best way to do it. Putting them out in a field and not doing anything with them will result in obese horses. We as equestrians understand the risk, paralysis and even death are just occupational hazards for us
@rachaelmolar37018 жыл бұрын
don't sit up when you race lean on the horses neck
@kb65228 жыл бұрын
You don't lean on the horses neck, you stand up in the stirrups and keep out of the horses way so he/she can reach their potential.
@rachaelmolar37018 жыл бұрын
You don't sit strait up and put your weight in the middle of the horses back too
@Seleuce7 жыл бұрын
A horse's neck is not the center of gravity. Its heaviest point is its retral shoulder area which is where the weight of a Jockey should be centered. Putting your weight to far front would make the horse front heavy, get it out of ballance, it'd never win a race like that and in worst case could trip and break front legs.
