I just bought the 1/48 Focke-Wulf 1000 SchnellBomber kit by this company. It is also a really nice kit of a smaller twin engine tactical bomber with 2x 1000kg and 1x 2500kg bombs. Looking forwards to building it... and now seriously considering this Horten...

I have 2 kits of that range. Both of Japanese Air Force: light jetbomber and the heavy bomber. This one has comparison with your E.555

Gary, an all jet flying wing bomber was seen over America in the 1940's. The Northrop YB/KB-49 first flew in 0ctober 1947. Though it was an 8 engine bomber not a 6 engine one. It was an evolution of the YB/XB-35 which was propeller driven, pusher engines. Revell Germany did a jet powered Amerika Bomber model in which the engines were mounted above the wing surface. Like a later version of the engines on the Dornier DO-X. I have a friend who built it and an escourt ME-262 fighter both marked in markings from Argentina.

Yes, I'm aware of the Northrop aircraft and the problems they faced. The Revell plane may have been the Arado E.555 with six engines, I built it last year as a captured aircraft with RAF markings.

Actually the YRB-49 (the reconnaissance conversion) was six engined, 4 x J-35 in the wing bays and 2 x J-35 in single pods under the wing. The tail cone was enlarged vertically, presumably to provide volume for the camera suite.

The 87 octane fuel triangles will need replacing. Not sure if any AM decals available for that purpose

Hey Gary , interesting box review, there must have been some pretty good drawings captured after the war as the bloodline seems to be played forward in the Northrop XB 49. There is some similarity to its baby brother Ho 229. It would be tempting to build this in a wheels up mode and put the two together. Digressing to ICM, I'm still reflecting on your interview with Valeriia. I checked out their site for the new releases especially the B26K and Skymaster.. They might have put more history in their instructions, however, Nakhon Phanom as you may know was in Thailand and their missions primarily in Laos. I can make your color scheme on these two kits easy, ( no markings and the pilot and copilot in black flight suits). You can also put some tree branches popping out of the engine nacelles :-) It seems with all these new kits I am "buying" more than building. You may be able to help me out on Ukraine companies. I just discovered a company called MODEL SVIT ? I caught a box review on their 1/48 P51 H Mustang, CAT # 4821, SKU MDV 48021. From what I could interpret from the two dimensional video view, their surface detailing is one of the best scaling I've ever seen and the kit cost was reasonable at about $60.00 US. Have you seen the kit and is this ICM competition ? As soon as I can save my milk money, I've got to give this a go even though my hanger is full of P51's. Modelsvit is indeed another Ukrainian manufacturer, however I know very little about their modern products. I had thought they concentrated on the low-pressure mould part of the market, with limited production runs, but I'm more than happy to be corrected about that!

@@garys_stuff thanks Gary, after all these years of building I had no idea about the types of molding and what the difference made. That could be the reason the video presented such a difference to surface detail and price of the kit, they were offering lots of extras. The industry has been evolving so fast between kit manufacturers and materials, especially paints it is hard to keep up with. Thanks again, Bob.

It looks a fairly good kit but to attack mainland USA effectively Germany would have had to secure bases in places like Cuba or the aircraft would have had to have an air to air refueling capability.

Fanasry land only one glider was built the jet powered version was captured 60% built the only Amirka bomber built was Ju 390 6 engine and Messerschmitt 264 neither saw service although therically both had the range

Fantasy is the very core of the whole "what if?" genre, almost by definition. Just the expression of some advanced and free-thinking aerodynamics created in a time of desperation, and fascinating to explore possible outcomes. Some might have worked, others almost certainly not.

I think I have the same kit but the japanese version. The problem are the colors are not indicated either and the end sheet colors are not correct.

Well i think I'll give myself license to mess about with the colours as it's supposedly for 1946-7 and who knows what the RLM would have specified by then?
