During the filming, Robert Patrick was "broke", living in a cheap apartment with his girlfriend, Barbara, whom he married during filming. He has credited the film with starting his career. This movie saved his life, he's come along way ever since.

Actually, the T-1000 can feel emotions. That's why Skynet rendered the T-1000 obsolete, for fear that it would turn against Skynet. That's also why most Terminator's CPUs are set to "read only". Meaning that they can imitate the behaviors of other people, but they do not have a personality to call their own. The T-1000, along with the T-X, is set to "read/write". Meaning that they can imitate other behaviors and improvise on those behaviors. Granting them the ability to understand, and even feel, emotions. If you pay attention, you may notice instances where the T-1000 shows emotions such as fear, frustration, amusement, and possibly satisfaction. I don't know for certain, but I think that may be why you never see a T-1000 in the "future war" scenes. Because Skynet only used one.

Two things strike me about this scene: -when Todd and Janelle mention the 800 swinging by earlier, you could see the micro calculations the 1000 is making in that instance about how to answer them without arousing suspicion (great acting by Robert Patrick) -the 1000 is an advanced prototype over the 800 not only in physical strength and abilities but also in infiltration and how to deal with humans; you can see that he acts more naturally than the 800 does but there’s still something off or not quite right about him which shows the limit of Skynet’s programming (again, great acting by Robert Patrick) One bonus observation. The studio put a lot of pressure on James Cameron to cast an even bigger bodybuilding type than Arnold as the 1000 but Cameron resisted. He said the 1000 is an advanced more sleeker model over the 800 so while the 800 is a tank, the 1000 should be a Porsche. Well done, James Cameron.

I said something similar regarding the advanced model terminator in Dark Fate, people complained the character appeared too bland, normal, unremarkable. But that is what you would want in an infiltration machine. It should blend in.
@kayoshie_
@kayoshie_ 3 жыл бұрын
@@RobertMorgan I'd say the same, looking.. normal is what you'd want from an infiltrator, but I'd argue that making an infiltrator TOO perfect at blending in, to the point of being basically human (as the REV-9 acts so lifelike in several instances in Dark Fate) is when it falls apart a little and the eeriness is kind of lost. What made the T-1000 scary is based on what you knew about the T-800. You know the T-800 was hilariously bad at blending in, he looked the part but emotions, posture etc he just stuck out. But again, the fact he looked human is what made him scary. The T-1000 takes this concept and spins it around on everyone, the T-1000 was made to trick the audience into thinking he was the good guy because he seemed so lifelike from a naked glance but at the same time, if you analysed the closer details (like the dog barking in the background and the ominous music, which is his theme, playing softly in the background) there is something off about him but your mind can't explain it. The calculating stares the T-1000 gives to people and his surroundings, the ability to look cold and logical but when spoken to, he can put on a smile and analyse body language is what sells the eeriness, he's an infiltrator but he's not human, and I'd say that is what you want from an infiltrator in terms of making a movie in my opinion, something that does blend in but if you look at it closely, it's not quite.. right, hell even Robert Patrick's appearance sells his infiltrator status, he looks skinny and efficient, and when you see him in combat, his physical shape compliments his abilities in a more advanced manner, rather than being a big buff dude with a fruity accent.

I'm 32 years old & am a defensive tactics instructor & an American Ninia Warrior/Gymnastics coach. The body mechanics in this movie are truly amazing. Even though they are terminators, James Cameron shows precise decisions that any athletic human should and would make to preserve one's organism. The only CGI part of the t800 doing his tuck/roll at the end of the tanker chase scene showed us parkour 30 years in advance of us understanding that type of technique world wide via the internet. There are so many subtleties of tactical intelligence performed in this movie, most of which without CGI, that should show us humans what we are capable of. Or T-1000 cannot know if it's another terminator model or just a human (someone like Kyle)? @americancrimejournal

Actually there is a bit of humor to it, however, the in both the script and novelization, the T-1000 was not aware John Connor had a protector as the T-1000 was an advanced prototype sent just moments after the original T-800 and Kyle Reese went through the Time Displacement Equipment. The T-1000 was never linked up to the "Sky Net"work, as SkyNet feared it would learn just how powerful it was. The T-1000 had little to no knowledge of how a T-800 operates. The first scene that displays this is when they first engage in the mall. T-1000 simply empties a clip into the T-800 as of it would dispatch him. When it didn't, the T-1000 grabbed the shotgun as if he was stripping it from some human and, the T-1000 goes to toss the T-800 around like a rag doll... that's when the T-800 jerked back and tightened his grip on the shotgun, that's the moment the T-1000 knew it wasn't dealing with a human and the started busting down walls. The second scene is when the T-1000 thought it dispatches the T-800 by bashing it with the 40000lb manual lock and then runs a piece of steel through what he thought was the power core. He has no knowledge of the T-800s ability to reroute power and survive.

@@gjtrue I'm pretty sure it would have accounted for that possibility, and it would have detailed files on the characteristics of previous models including the T-800. They all seem to be "big guys" who have an affinity for motorcycles. Also, Skynet would have records of every Terminator released to the field and if one was captured by the resistance, Skynet would most likely know about it. Once it heard that a big guy on a bike was also looking for John, I'm sure it knew exactly who it was.
