Idle is a bit to fast but sounding great. The Ford 300 6 is a great engine with lots of versatility. This would be really nice in a 1952 Kurtis Craft Indy Roadster.

Use studs on the front & rear bolt holes for the valve cover, regular bolts will work loose. Same goes for the intake.

I don't know if it would be a direct bolt-in, but it would depend on your abilities...for instance, if that year came with a 6-cyl similar to this, then you need the correct mounts for the motor, or you could make your own. Wilcap makes many adapters for the transmission combo you desire, so you're pretty well covered on that one...this particular motor has a custom-built 3-speed with a Jeep top plate which puts the stick on the floor, but it can also be an automatic...

Awesome insane. That Hemi in the background at the end of the video was pretty nuts too. I like how you did away with the mechanical fuel pump and threw a breather over the hole. Very clean looking, The location of the aftermarket coil is pretty clever too. What I like most is the attention to detail. Everything on that motor is clean, and it looks as though nothing has been overlooked. Excellent build. One question though, is that an Offy triple carb manifold or was it custom made?

I was thinking in the future of building a sleeper out of a 1980s Ford crown vic, put a Hot 300 6 in it with a turbo, maybe Twin turbos, then put a harmless looking quiet exhaust with a dump valve on it to get better flow when you need it. It would be so awesome, people would think you would be driving just a crappy old crown vic, then you rocket out of the intersection!

Ok,the engine that's in my uncles Ford Econoline, which is on one of my videos, only generates about 120 hp. But it only has a single exhaust manifold (which was typical for their six cylinders of that time), a single barrel carberator, a larger cam, and a better exhaust.

@williamcharles9480
@williamcharles9480 9 жыл бұрын
+eric eastlund Eric, you've got a point there. That non-cross flow cylinder head is the most power robbing component on the whole engine. The head's design gives a strong clue at just how long this engine has been around. You can name a piece of industrial equipment and this engine has probably been used to power it at some point. I would love to see what a canted valve, cross flow cyl. head would do to power gains. This way there would be no need to isolate the intake manifold runners from the exhaust headers. On something that you didn't refer to, Eric, but it's something that I wanted to add, Ford Racing actually used to sell an all aluminum "drag racing only" cyl. head for the 300 c.i. that didn't have any coolant passages in it. There was a disclaimer about its lack of coolant passages written in their catalog. This, in a way, kind of lessens the theory of dire consequences that can happen if an engine is run without coolant just for a moment. A drag racing engine is going to run for several minutes and many of those engines don't contain coolant. I wouldn't start up an engine "dry" if it was for, "breaking-in" the engine or a new camshaft, but just to run a broken in engine "dry" for a couple of minutes isn't going to hurt it. Don't forget that there is a form of coolant circulating in the engine. It's the engine's lube oil. While the Weber carbs is a really nice set-up, the 300 c.i. that was installed in the 96 F-150, (the last year it was used), had "mass air" and OBD II fuel injection. That system can be modified to kick out as much if not more than those Webers I'm certain. The fuel injection system used in 96 is the same type of system that the Mustang guys were modding and getting loads of power out of the 5.0 liter, (302c.i.) V8s.

@laclepabon I believe it will bolt right in your 82 Ford truck with very few mods. We are asking $3,500.00 for the motor and it's well worth it...it has a custom-made intake manifold, exhaust manifold and headers and it has about $1,800.00 worth of Weber carbs on it. The motor has ZERO miles on it, with a total run-time of about an hour. It's a real beauty that would make your truck very dependable...what kind of transmission are you running??? Thanks, Bob T.

The EFI has alot of potential, but it needs some work. If you can manage to put megasquirt in and learn how to use it then you can do lots of fun things. Alot of people associate it with Riceburners, but its a great system that really opens up what you can do with fuel injection. Once you have that running it becomes easy to do other things like blowers and turbos. Other than that, cams and exhaust really perks up an engine.

How "different" from this old { already sold } FORD inline 6 engine that had the trio of Weber Carburetors on it....?? I say how different in bore/stroke and head flow dynamics would the 1990 F-150 XLT LARIET's 4.9L MFI be... ?? Is there any way to put twin Weber Alcohol carbs on the twin air inles tubes near butterfly valves where the fuel injection sucks air from the air filtration box?? Mine has the one injecter per cylindar fuel system. The intent is to run E85 Alchohol and keep the old machine going....not to win races.

Hate seeing engine builders run their freshly built engine on a stand that does not provide for wet cooling. Yeah, I know... They only run it for a couple of minutes, and it doesn't get excessively hot. Besides, they are an engine builder, and they know what they are doing. Well, I'm an engine builder too, and I never perform a break-in run, with a dry block. Having the cooling passages filled with coolant during break-in, insures that the block and cylinder head experience their first "heat cycle" with the same rate of temperature rise, as the rebuilt engine will see for the remainder of its service life. It prevents uneven expansion of engine components, during the critical "wear in" period, when friction mating surfaces establish their initial wear pattern. When all of the exhaust ports of the cylinder head are allowed to "warm up" with an absence of coolant in the jackets, the cylinder head expands unevenly, stressing the head gasket, altering the valve/rocker geometry, and affecting the head bolt distortion imparted on the deck surface of the block. If you can't afford a test stand that includes a cooling system, at least; plug the water pump intake and pour coolant into the thermostat housing until the passages are completely filled. This will still be half-assed, since you will not be able to run the engine at the (2000 rpm for 20 minutes) break-in period that is recommended by most camshaft manufacturers, but at least it will indicate that you have a clue about what is going on. Sorry to be so blunt, but if you have built as many engines as I suspect you have; its time to "get up to speed" with modern engine building methods.

marshalllhiepler Agreed! In an effort to hurry play,they ignore the fact,as you stated,portions of the heads/block will get WAY hotter than designed,with no way for heat control,easily in the first even say,20-30 seconds,let alone a 2-3 minute run.Why the hell you idiots think you can't run with no exhaust even a little bit without causing minute(unseen to the naked eye),damge to the valves/seats?Why the hell you think the heads warp while driving when the water pump goes out,in no time at all? I worked at Sunnen for over 12 years,and learned a LOT more than about engines than people who own shops and build shit that don't last,and a LOT more that I thought I knew! Look up Sunnen's Complete Cylinder Head and Engine Rebuilding Handbook by John G. Edwards ,and buy a clue.
