Watching Photonic reminds me of watching Steve Irwin, except with deadly electricity instead of deadly animals. You just know he's gonna fuck around too much and end up killing himself one day, but it's fascinating anyway.

Love your videos man. I'm a service technician for commercial cooking and refrigeration equipment. I always wanted to put on my ticket.. Oven was low on freon, charged oven back up and applied 480 volts to ignitor. Tested for correct operation. Unit is working properly or something like that (ha ha). I ain't 'avin' it! Ha! I tried this shorted turn experiment on my home made transformer, and I got a very violent physical upwards motion on the shorted turn, amazing the enormous amount of force than can occur in a transformer when shorted turns occur, and high fault currents are involved.

With that pipe at 6:12 , if you were to take a 12v halogen bulb and put the two wires on it at different distances apart, it would light right? That's probably what interests me most about induction is what you're doing there, plus having that potential divider. Both together would be awesome

His flir would probably get popped ;D hey I would love to see a flir aimed at the car battery he was charging at extreme current that time. Especially during the first two minutes or so immediately after he applied the 100A of charging current. It was a shame that battery never exploded, a bit of an anti climax really. Hey BBI, when is the 16 pill LDMOS amp video coming? XD I want sparks and flames!

Hopefully you are able to do so :) Would like to see them go pop. I was also watching people measure x-rays from vacuum rectifiers. Maybe you should measure the x-rays from putting way to much voltage though a CRT?

@BoomBoxDeluxe12 жыл бұрын
Hello, Mr. Photon. :-) I'm keeping OK, & I'm looking forward to getting my variac sorted out & giving it a go with some loads on it. I know mine is only a little 10A puppy, so if I plan on doing any poppage with it, I'll combine it with the Fun-Jiggery-Pokery Unit & a 3kW ballast to ensure that it doesn't suddenly become grossly overloaded. In the meanwhile though, I have a couple more kWh meter restorations to do, & I'll be sure to whip-out the camera while doing those. :-) Take care. BBD
@pclover12 жыл бұрын
Other way around. Current is the side of the river and voltage is how fast the river is moving.
@bjtaudio12 жыл бұрын
As the copper single shorted turn gets hot you will here the hum in the core getting louder again due to the increase in the coppers resistance as the fault current reduces in proportion to its temperature. The resistance increases by 3 times or more when it hits 500+ degrees and glows orange. The hum level is proportional typically to the flux in the core, sounds like the the shorted turn when cold is loading down the primary side reducing the flux in the core. Look like a S.P. pole pig core.

@TankCrusher21012 жыл бұрын
Voltage is electromotive force Amperage is electrical current Wattage is the sum of the two
@gizmodrake12 жыл бұрын
Glad to see this one back up! I recon that smaller ring of copper pipe was about to melt when it was glowing orange. Just a quick question though, what did that transformer come out of originally? Once again, thanks for re uploading.
