Great information! Sometimes it's way too hot to want to go sit in a hot bath, no matter how small. And your perspective on cleanliness makes perfect sense. Do you think that meditation or visualization can help with flare ups?

I’m trying to sitz bath in my tub and it’s so uncomfortable to sit in 2” of water on a hard floor. I literally can’t sit like this for more than maybe 5 minutes. Ugh.

Hi all, today is new years eve 2023, so I know I'm a little late to this post. I have a question for you doc., or anyon else. I am on my third week after my fissure surgery, I had surgery the 8th of dec. I had two fissure, so my surgeon made two incisions I just had a general surgeon do the surgery. my second week was great, I felt amazing, I also went back to work that week, my third week though has been a lot different!!! the pain has returned!! my stools are soft, I take stool softners and laxative everyday. I guess my question is to do with sitz baths do they really help? I quit taking the sitz baths as soon as I returned to work, could the reason for my sudden pain be from quit taking sitz baths? I have started taking them once again and am feeling slightly better. Also I have had no bleeding at all just the usually draining, like you feel you've wet yourself 24/7!!! LOL

I had lat. Sphincterotomy surgery 21 days back. I was advised to take sitz bath with warm water thrice a day. I was told that warm water increases the blood circulation in the region which will increase the healing process. I am following the advice and find it very helpful. I have been eating fiber rich diet and drink atleast 3 litres of water. But i am having pebble poops occasionally. What could be its problem and what can be done? It is very uncomfortable 😢.

Your pebble poops could be from too much fiber. Take at my other videos on fiber. Best to you.

Hi doc! My husband just had an abscess drained. I have taken out the packed gauze and we’ve been doing lots of sitz baths! At what point do we completely leave it alone and not put a surgical pad to cover it? It’s not oozing it’s just leaking. I just really don’t want it to get infected 😖 thank you!! She left about a 1.5 inch incision to drain it. I just get so scared it’ll get infected. Thanks doc your vid’s help so much!!

Hi Doctor. I have a fissure. And today (7 November) is my 5th day of treatment. Can you suggest what is the proper fibre that i can consume. I’ve been eating papaya, grapes, apple, pear, kiwi, banana, prunes, and green vegetables. And i drink at least 3 litre of water everyday. I do sitz bath at least 3 or 4 times a day. My bowel is now okay. But, i can feel that my body is really really lack of energy. Maybe because of my food intake. I really wanna know what else that i can consume to at least boost up my energy. Maybe a timetable of food to consume everyday, and at what time. And types of food/drink/juice/supplements. Your help will be much appreciated. Thanks Doctor.

It sounds like you may need to speak with a dietician regarding some of your questions as they are a bit outside my specialty. I have several videos on fiber. The key is to experiment and find the right amount and type or food that agrees with you best.

Hi Doc, thanks so much for your sharing and caring. Wish we're in the same location so I could come see you. Hope you could advise me and few people that are having fissures as well. Our fissures visually seems to have been healed (I did proctoscopy). But we still feel some soreness/irritations. (As in my case the irritations/soreness is not so significant, maybe because my fissures are considered small. But the other guys seems to be in a much more soreness). Really appreciate if you could give your thoughts on why there is still soreness although visually the fissures are healed? Will share your advise with them in the group. Thanks Doc.

Doctor, so I have been doing a lot of sitz bath, in quite hot water. I mean not that it burns me. But it is nicely hot and cozy and provides great relief. Definitely its hotter than 'lukewarm'. But I have noticed in last few days that my the color of my buttocks has turned deep blue/black. Saw a gastroenterologist today and he thinks that I have burned myself with my hot sitz baths and I should reduce the temperature of the water. That makes me a bit sad coz I feel like its the hot water that will promote healing. According to you, how hot should be alright? Thank you. Also, he suggested I add dettol antispectic liquid to the sitz bath water to help with healing. I have been doing that and it feels nice but it also stings a bit inside my anus. Is that okay? Thank you.

Thank you dr you know i had this information about hot water makes hemorhoids get bigger because hot water makes veins so wide and this make the blood flow faster inside it i think this also another wrong information thank you to correct it for me because i was afraid of hot water i thought it is helpful for fissure to heal wound but bad for hemorrhoid ..so i was using lukewarm water 😂

Hi Doc, I have perirectal abscess and had surgery to remove the abscess by a general surgeon. The pain is less . Now I have a seton to drain out the pus. There is still pain since 12/19/21. I saw the perirectal surgeon and was told either live with a seton or have a ano fistula surgery and was told 60-70 % success rate . He also prescribed 800 mg of the bactrim for me. The first 2 days the pain was reduced then the pain returned. The seton is bothering me and I can’t sit or stand or walk too long. I am off from work because my job requires walking. A lot of sitting and typing. It affects my ADLs and IADLs. Is pain in the ass! The other video you talked about fistula surgery or no surgery. But I need to know what does surgery involve . Is it to remove the fistula ?

Please see a Colon and Rectal Surgeon if you can. Many general surgeons are not up to date with anal fistula surgery. If you'd like more info, read the description box for a video consultation with me if you are interested.
