I stg they think everyone just automatically knows what they do. “Well WE booked it at the same time with the same card!” Yes and the HOTEL has no way to know that, as they AREN’T YOU. You HAVE to indicate specific details, nobody can read minds. My mom is the same way, but thankfully not like this about it. Just she’ll go “Oh they should know” about stuff

I have had guests complain to me about the manager after talking with the manager. He was not rude or anything but he told them we could not have adjoining rooms because the hotel did not have them. He even made sure the rooms were next to each other. They got very upset when I called the manager back over so they could file a complaint with the manager. (He is also the owner.)

Lol the cat one reminds me of when (as a housekeeper) i went into a room that had been inaccurately marked as empty. I went to the front desk and the new front desk guy wanted to argue with me about it. I told him that i could ALMOST imagine someone leaving their suitcase but i don't think they would forget their cat. (Pet friendly hotel) Told him to mark the room as occupied and try to get ahold of the last guest that had used the room.

I booked through a third party for yesterday. We have severe allergies to feathers. I followed up with a call to the hotel to confirm the special request. The hotel required a 2 day stay, but I only needed one night, so I booked through the third party. Being polite scored me a free upgrade to a family suite!

The first floor room request reminded me of something I did to myself. I typically book through a *very specific* third-party site. Only certain people can access that site. For people who work in hotels, you may know what site I am speaking of. Years ago, when I was using that site for *other* travel, I checked the box to request a high floor. When I traveled for that reason, we were often staying in kinda shady hotels, and the further up you are, the less chance of any issues. I was willing to haul my luggage up 2-3 flights of stairs (these were often motels without elevators) for safety's sake. I never unchecked the "high floor" box when I moved to largely using it for leisure travel. So, one morning, I'm on the 14th floor of the hotel when the fire alarm goes off. I find some shoes (relax, I was in the hotel slippers...not barefoot on the hotel carpet, but not something you want to walk 13 flights of stairs in!), find the stairwell, and start to make my way down. I got to like the 5th floor when the alarm shut off and staff entered the stairwell saying that it was a false alarm and we could return to our rooms. They came through and opened the doors so that we could use the elevators rather than trudge back up the stairs, and stuck around to help manage elevator capacity. I was standing in the elevator lobby rolling my eyes when a staff member asked me if there was a problem. "Oh, not with you. I'm rolling my eyes at myself for requesting a high floor. I really need to remove that from my profile!" "Oh, that is...up to your preference ma'am. We'll get you back upstairs ASAP." "Thanks," and back to scrolling on my phone. They were definitely expecting me to yell, LOL!

The last time I had to book a hotel room was a few years ago when my grandma and I were planning visit my mom for her retirement party. Grandma told me to book at her favorite hotel, but it turned out they were sold out for that weekend. Thankfully we did manage to book a hotel room somewhere else. Turns out my mom's retirement party from the university was the same weekend as that university's move in.

It seems your kids were jumping up and down, slamming buttons, and that was the cause of the safety stop. As such, we're unable to offer you any compensation for this event." Guest with unruly children: "My angels did no such thing! You're hotel trapped us in those death machines for How dare you lie! How dare you brush me off!" Front Desk Clerk. Truly love these videos. I've only recently been traveling and staying at hotels occasionally and the amount of people who argue with these poor workers is just insane. Especially when someone didn't read the fine print. I get it if you struggle to read small font (like I do) but if the worker is being polite and kindly explaining to you how it works, don't get upset at them. Their doing their jobs and have enough on their plates. Be nice -_- it's not hard. I always try to be polite and kind any way I can. Even if some of the hotel staff sound upset or have an attitude I don't jump down their throat. These are demanding positions and can get super stressful

I (26f) got taught by my mum to never book third party if you're staying more than one night. She came back to London from Germany after being there a week (work trip), meaning she had lots of used laundry and a big case, plus laptop, then she would have a 6 hour train journey to get back to where we live*. She stayed at a hotel in London for a couple of days and booked - she thought - a room on the lowest floor, meaning she wouldn't have to take her huge amount of luggage a long distance. However, she booked third party and ended up with a room on the 4th floor (5th floor USA), meaning a lot of stairs with a very heavy case. *Before I get people about coming into London then doing a six hour train journey - we live out in the English countryside. The closest airport to us is approximately an hour and a half and does flights to other parts of Europe about once a week. It is easier and cheaper to get a flight to a London airport then take the direct 6 hour train right down to where we live. (Cornwall, for those who know it.)

Now you're trespassing and yes this is pepper spray in my hand. yes I have heard and done that, fortunately the party left before I operated the pepper spray. My office was actually pretty tiny and the AC would have blown more of it my way. The door is less than ten feet from my desk, and so far nobody has been stupid enough to test if I am bluffing, because I am not. This is why I am no longer in retail, either. I've never worked in hospitality - well, did a couple of restaurants as cooks, but didn't have to deal front line.

Plus its only like one stair difference get some exercise its not like your on the 7th floor

The car story: guilty as charged, except we snuck our small MinPin (dog) into the room. My wife, our two teenagers, and myself were moving from DC to Dallas in mid-1998. It had been rather grueling finishing up packing and cleaning out the house up until the day we left; we weren't sure when we'd get off or how far we'd drive into upstate New York, so -- foolish, foolish me -- I had made no reservations for that night, though I did have them for the rest of our 4-day historical sightseeing itinerary. After all, there should be plenty of rooms available, no? No. Turns out that very weekend there was some kind of backcountry road rally going on in upstate NY and hotels were sold out everywhere. Keep in mind that this was largely pre-internet, so we had to just drive around and ask. After several stops, we did find one hotel that had a single room for the four of us. But it did not take pets. Luckily, the room was ground floor and had access that bypassed the main lobby. So we snuck Deacon in. He was very well behaved, and we drove in to Niagara Falls the next day. 😂

@erichusmann5145
@erichusmann5145 Ай бұрын
It's been explained in a few comments on the shorts, but essentially the night auditor is the person who sets all the hotel systems to "the next day". They are often also the person assigning rooms to reservations, generating bills, tending to late-night guest requests (tends to be an overnight job so low but not zero guest traffic), and the like. Get on their good side, get best available rooms. Get on their bad side even indirectly, they get "creative".
