Imagine paying 32k for a watch that has no gold, no diamonds and no chance of keeping good time after a decade or so. I just don't get how people value these so much. I love nice things as much as the next guy. That said there's a big difference between something that's expensive purely from hype, and actual top shelf products. Rolex has made some true gems that justify big money. The modern sport models just don't qualify imho. Stainless steel polished to perfection is still only Stainless steel.

Sold my first one for 26k got a call for another was planning on keeping it but I just sold it for 22.5k. Incoming recession so I’ll pick it up when a bum who bought it all on credit can’t afford the payments.

Those prices will be dropping again soon. I'll pick one up when they are $17k. Yes they will be there. We are in a recession and none is acting like it. Watch dealers are still trying to act like things are still good. Take your L while it's not huge

@japanwatchconnection agreed Im a Rolex and AP collector and Im not worried about prices. Of course I wear my watches and don’t buy to flip, to the delight of my AD, but its a peace of mind knowing that if I ever sell my watches I will make profit. Basically Im being paid to enjoy my hobby.

How do you establish a relationship in a new city when there is only one authorized dealer within 250 kms of you? I went to them and tried to schmooze, they told me to buy a Tudor and some earrings for my wife and MAYBE they’ll get me that Rolex. No thanks….life is too short for BS.

The prices are ridiculous especially on the sport models. The prices make it not even worth buying them anymore esp when it's double or more the retail price. It's a nice watch but 30+ thousand dollars for it is not worth it. Unless you have f**k you money and don't care then sure it's a good deal

The plastic tag on the strap is exactly the same as the one on my constantin wiesz shopping channel watch. And it's Ltd and made from bits of a countach, which bits isn't stipulated, and cost less than the amount they charged for a strap resize on that bland thing. Should have bought kahuna.

@@Crmjewelers Having £200,000 in new and nearly new Rolex watches in my possession, and a family member who works at Rolex, I’ve made all the right calls. I don’t have ANY bi-metals. Don’t invest in them, ever, is my advice. This is the best one by far, but always over priced. It won’t recover.

@@NEROROYAL I bought one if the first solid ever rose versions 2 years or so ago. I sold it after 9 months. The only watch close to a flip. Lots of comments, watch enthusiasts knew but every month someone would ask me if it was real. They all thought it was yellow gold gone wrong. I can’t be alone in this. So I broke even. Rule 2 I suppose, never sell a Rolex because you must.

@@Crmjewelers I just think the grey market for watches is populated by mostly scammers like the guy in Texas or the other one who has a course in “watch trading”. The watch market is artificiality inflated, worse than even the real estate market before the crash of the great rescission. Every dimwit and halfwit is on the internet proclaiming to be a watch “expert”. When the watch market crashes, and it will, many people will lose a ton of money and many who paid 500k for a watch retailing for 30k as an “investment” will lose big. I am just an alarmist.
