Hey- what I am hearing, for some work you make decision during the construction (like you have mentioned about the drywall in the attic); I thought all the materials/design need to be in the plan/permit before construction starts?

Thankfully we have no permit requirements where we live. Plus, we hadn't spent much energy on deciding finishes before the build began. Our focus was much more on function and build quality than aesthetics and the ever increasing cost of materials and labor has influenced some of our decisions.

Good stuff, Tony. Is the construction using those notches on the outside rafters upcoming? BTW, what's "rain"? I've forgotten.
@ozarksethic Жыл бұрын
Rain is that wet stuff you never get when you want it and get too much when you don't! The notches will be filled shortly. Decking on the roof starts next week so the purpose of the notches will become clear.

@@ozarksethic Thanks, Tony. BTW, unless you know a "Marilyn Brooks" I'd be cautious about the other commenter. Looks suspicious to me. Esp since it's a today's YT join.

@@rickc4317 Thanks for your concern but we know Marilyn so no worries.

After some redneck engineering I have some slow speed internet. Rafters are looking great. It's going to be one heck of a solid home.

Gitter done! Thanks. That's the plan. We needed deep enough rafters for the spray foam and lighting.

@@ozarksethic we spray foamed our roof deck too. It was a good investment

@@PineyWoodsHomestead We're trying to have a very tight envelope and figured since the walls were R38 with just the block, spray foam was the way to go on the roof. We looked at hard board, rock wool, and exterior/interior and the most efficient seemed to be spray on the underside. It's good to hear that you're happy with it. My wife's sister and her husband and my best friend and his wife finished their houses last year and spray foamed walls and ceilings. They have been happy with it so I figure we will be as well.

@@ozarksethic even on the hottest days our attic is cool. Money well spent.
