I wasn't sure about flipping the format but since I've been working and not narrating during filming it seemed like a better way to present the info. Plus it saved time during editing since I wasn't doing a voiceover. We had always planned on skylights in the main house. We decided to add them over the garage once the roof deck was on and we saw how dark it was with just the two windows. It's surprising how much cooler the convective air movement makes the whole house but especially downstairs. When it was 105 outside it was actually pleasant in the downstairs of the house even without insulation on the roof yet.

@@ozarksethic it was a very smart move. It will help you stay comfortable even if the the AC ever goes out plus less heat on your roof deck will only add to the life of the structure.

Windows and doors are crazy if you get anything other and vinyl. We wanted European tilt-turn windows like we had in Italy but they were $$$$. Of the better options Andersen had the best features and build quality for the price. Thankfully we don't have 17! Plus we bought them in early 2022 so they were about 20% less than they are today. The screens on the skylights are just like windows. They fit in a groove on the inside and the opening mechanism is below the screen. I think they'll be pretty nice once everything is done. We thought we might need shades but the solar rejection of the glass is amazing. Though, if we have guests during a full moon they might wish we had installed shades. LOL!
