I figured he was going to side with Rhaenyra since she's the actual Queen now. He's too honorable to side with traitors on the green council. I definitely see him fighting that murderer Criston Cole in the future just for giving the Kingsguard a bad name and breaking his oath

I thought Daemon choking Rhaenyra was a brilliant and deliberately shocking way to highlight the idea that Dragons are never fully tame. Daemon is 100% Targaryen, a dragon in human skin. His blood and bone is fire and chaos made flesh. I feel Rhaenyra understands this because she doesn’t admonish him or scream for help. Shes not even angry. She’s just surprised that Daemon knew nothing about the Song of Ice & Fire and likely understands for Daemon the fact that his brother didn’t consider him a truly worthy successor is a festering wound on his soul that no sane person should poke. I just feel it’s a deeper moment than just an abusive act.

Also, you entirely missed the point of what I said. He’s simply not 100% Targaryen, he’s 50 percent Targaryen, do you know how to read? Oh, and yes, because a character said it, it’s definitely not an exaggeration, or a joke, we should just always take it at face value and consider it 100% true! I suppose we should believe Cersei when she says Joffrey is a Baratheon as well?

@@Polo-wk7zl I only see dragon being used metaphorically. Not literally. Given that being 100% Targaryen (or any family) genetically is unfeasible, it's more likely refering to Daemon being born to two Targaryen parents. Prince Baelon Targaryen and Princess Alyssa Targaryen who were siblings. I don't fault anyone for wanting to clarify the intended message of their words, however to do so with derision is unnecessary.

Aemond learned a major lesson about flying a battle dragon. Vhagar is not trained to just taunt people. Also, Arrax was just trying to protect Luke because he could sense that Luke was anxious and scared. Like with Rhaenyra giving birth and we saw Syrax roaring, Arrax and Vhagar are in tune with their riders feelings. I'm curious about if this show will make Rhaenyra more involved with the war than in the book.

Bitterness has nothing to do with Princess Rhaenys not bowing to Queen Rhaenyra. She didn't bow because she is not the head of House Velaryon, so it is not her place to bend the knee & declare for Rhaenyra. That right falls to her husband & as stated, he has recovered from his fever & sailing to Dragonstone. Rhaenys said that she barely escaped Kings Landing (because she wouldn't bend to Aegon) & only came to warn them out of loyalty to her granddaughters, who are both betrothed to Rhaenyra's sons. Rhaenys is also slowly reserving her own judgment because as the episode plays out, she is always in the background, watching Rhaenyra. She quickly comes to realize that Rhaenyra is like her father & will make a good Queen. That is why she convinces Coryls to declare for Rhaenyra's side & join in the fight to come. Otherwise, none of their grandchildren will be safe & that will definitely be the end of the Velaryon blood line. Well, technically Laenor is still alive so.... I hope he'll come back into the story & ride Sea Smoke again. 🙂

"Neither whip nor words could turn Drogon if he did not wish to be turned." Thats from fifth book. Also, Silverwing refused the wishes of Alysanne 3 times. Dany said Dragons are not slave, Viserys said The idea we control dragons is sn illusion. Luke felt scared, anxious threatened so his young dragon reacted accordingly,it is sort of self-defense for dragons or dragons instinct. Vhagar felt the resentment and hate Aemond felt towards Luke, Aemond did not want to kill Luke but he wanted to take his eye. Dragons are emotionally connected to their riders, but sometimes whatever they do with feelings of their riders is something they decide on their own.
@ketchup016

I know that's possible, but even removing their riders from the equation, baby dragon gets dive bombed by a monster, naturally he would be scared on his own agency. He acts tough blowing fire, kind of like baby Luc slashing that knife at Aemond. Except Vhagar's not a fellow kid, he just "challenged" an extremely battle-hardened soldier who swats him the fuck out of the way like the inconsequential little punk he must have seemed like. Obviously plenty of parallels to their riders even without the direct sharing of emotions (which I know they do, I'd just say this was a combination).

The Guest Right in Westeros means that Boros was more concerned about the reputation and stain on his House if he allowed a guest to be killed under his roof. If Aemond wanted to leave, he would have left regardless of what borros had to say. I feel like if Rhaenyra played up to Boros ego and offered him something like a place on the council and lands or something of value, he would have been more willing to remember the oath his father took. 2:53 This is a mistaken assumption that many have and this is partly the blame of the showrunners. The Dance itself is the main character. Rhaenyra isn't some heroic protagonist. HOTD is the live action depiction of the tragedy that is The Dance of the Dragons. Viewing her and The Blacks as heroes and Alicent and The Greens as villains is why Daemon giving her a hand necklace is so shocking.

You don’t have to be heroic to be the protagonist. There are villain protagonist. Tony Soprano was the protagonist of The Sopranos and a compete sociopath. Rhaenyra can be flawed and go down a dark path but she is clearly the main character and the showrunners have called her the face of the show. She has even been promoted as such. You’re going to have to cope with the fact that the books and show are two different things.

The translation has been confirmed thanks to the language's creator, David J. Peterson (via Archive Of Our Own). In it, it is revealed that the name of the song Daemon sings to Vermithor is "With Three Heads". Check the English translation: Fire breathes, winged leader but two heads For a third to sing From my voice: The fires spoke And the price has been paid with blood magic With words of fire with clear eyes To tie the three for you i sing As one we come together And with three heads We'll fly like we were meant to beautifully, freely In the book Aemond he kills Luke and because he wanted not to and as he is showing in the series that he is sorry, the name of Rhaenyra's baby would be a girl and her name would be visenya In the book Aemond he kills Luke because he wants to and when he gets home he celebrates and Aegon and alicent they celebrate luke's death different from the series they put it as an accident that the Two lost control of the dragons in the book there is no such thing as losing control of the dragons they spoiled everything in the series but anyway Aemond killed Luke he could have prevented it It was just him not following Luke but that asshole Aemond went after the kid now he's going to bear all the consequences now l' m wondering how they are they going to do this in the series because in the book the greens are all happy with luke's death for alicent, aegon and even aemond so i'm wondering how they are going to do it in the series because the writers put it as if it was an accident and that aemond didn't wanted to kill Luke unlike the book where he kills Luke because he wants to, I didn't like that much they did it just to make people feel sorry for the greens in my opinion, In the book Aemond kills Luke because he wanted to kill Luke different from the series that showed that it was an "Accident" but depending on how Aemond was and blamed for Luke's death he could have avoided it An example was just he didn 't follow Luke then he wouldn't kill Luke anymore like Aemond is a donkey, imbecile is an idiot he did shit and now the greens will pay for everything they did Rhaenyra wasn't dreaming of a dragon giving birth. Her own dragon, Syrax, was screaming in pain at her because they are so bonded. If you notice during the Battle of the Stepstones, Caraxes screams when Daemon is hit by an arrow. this shows how Rhaenyra and Daemon have a great connection with their dragons. Rhaenyra's anger burns the whole transition was so well done, her anger is completely justified compared to how they made Daenarys Daemon as crazy as it gets, he loved his brother. From the scene where he stopped Corlis talking shit about Viserys in ep 1, helping on the throne to mourning on the beach. I don't think Daemon wanted to show weakness because Rhaenyra was at her most vulnerable and it wasn't easy.. (His last wife died in childbirth, and I believe it is also said that his mother died in childbirth and the wife of Viserys died in childbirth.) So the only thing he could do was prepare for the war he knew was coming. The scene on the beach was much longer of him on the beach Matt the actor he shot a scene on the beach the daemon suffering from the death of his baby who was a girl and her name was the series visenya but HBO preferred to remove this scene the daemon he is not no saint anymore he loves his family he loves his children and really rhaenyra just unfortunately the writers prefer not to show that side of him much, i think the reason daemon didnt go to rhaenyra when she was giving birth is because he feared having to make an impossible choice. The last woman he had complications with died. He didn't want to have to make that choice for Rhaenyra. He couldn't lose her that way. When he dropped to his knees, he was relieved that she was okay and had survived. Rhaenyra didn't want help during the birth because of her mother's death. She wanted to get that baby out so she wouldn't suffer the same fate. This series/book is awesome... Matt Smith said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. I fully believe he was heartbroken to see his brother in that condition. we books Alicent she hates Rhaenyra she was always jealous of Rhaenyra so much that I wish rhaenyra's death no and as in the series it shows that alicent is like that and because we books she does things because she because she is a bad person Let's see the losses Rhaenyra lost mother and father and daughter and son and Daemon lost father and mother in childbirth and also lost his wife who is Laena and son and now he lost brother and daughter and two other children They are suffering, but each one of their own ways, the daemon starts preparing for war because he knows Otto very well and he is afraid of losing his family One thing I say is that the two really love each other rhaenyra she can't survive without the daemon They are the best couple like it or not they are everyone's popular Daemyra forever Emma Darcy who plays Rhaenyra she says that the daemon never laid a hand on Rhaenyra that this was the first time that Rhaenyra her character didn't care much because she knows that the daemon did that and Because he's angry and he's letting his emotion out and she also says which character of hers cares the most about what she just found out that the daemon doesn't know about prophecy because Rhaenyra I thought the daemon knew because he was heir to viserys for 10 years that's why she put a smile on the side of her mouth because she just found out that her father always chose her and Rhaenyra had her doubts if her father wanted her as heir remembers episode 2 when Rhaenyra talks to Alicent poise now after years he got her answer The daemon must be sad because it's his brother and he just found out that he was never chosen and that brother never trusted him enough to tell him and that's more heartbreaking A script for the first season came out that HBO thought of putting in the story a scene that the viserys was thinking of telling the daemon then he starts talking to the daemon but then gives up only that they They didn't put this scene unfortunately I think the biggest reason people didn't like the scene of Daemon smothering Rhaenyra is because he's supposed to be a bad guy to the greens, but the protector of his family. Daemon isn't a saint, but he's definitely not a villain. He does a lot of bad things, but he's a gray character, and loving his family and protecting them is one of his redeeming qualities and some writers are trying to take that away from him. There are two teams, the Green Team that belongs to Alicent and the Black Team that belongs to Rhaenyra, I hope to see Rhaenyra with fire in her eyes in the second season, The Greens will pay for everything they did

But it was Aemond who put Vhagar in that situation, chasing them... PS: Arrax getting above the clouds and storm was a big mistake because Vhagar could easily see and engage. Them I don't really want to put the two in the same box, because this age that we're in on HOTD is a completely different time. And era than Thrones, In a way it's like saying you like regular potatoes and you like sweet potatoes the same but they're both different taste. Does that make sense? Haha

"Bitterness" is not why Rhaenys does not bend the knee at Rhaenyra's coronation--she is undeclared, has her own mind, and is exercising caution and discretion. However, the expression on her face shows a degree of hope and wonder, most likely at the notion of a woman sitting atop the iron throne. With Rhaenyra standing at the top of the hill and Rhaenys at the bottom, the kneeling subjects become the rope that binds them through shared archetypes and narrative, though distanced by time and circumstance. We later see that Rhaenys first wanted to ascertain Rhenyra's fitness to rule while under siege, ultimately coming to her side due to Rhaenyra's restraint and caution, qualities Rhaenys has constantly exercised and possesses in spades--qualities that make one fit to rule in Rhaenys' mind.

Rhaenyra wasn't considering peace. In Westeros Kinslaying is among the worst acts someone can commit along with breaking Guest Right. Daemon is hot headed and too quick to anger.

I can't help but feel though that blood and cheese, dying of the dragons.. the whole civil war that is going to happen is because of a misunderstanding and an accident 🤣🤣🤣 but As someone who read fire and blood I'd give this season as a whole 8.5/10... some changes and inconsistencies here and there but overall a really good show. nah. idk what you're talking about how the dance of the dragons would start because of a misunderstanding and an accident when the dance would've happened anyway even if the misunderstanding and accident didn't happen. Alicent thinking Viserys changed his decision at the last minute was nothing but to justify their usurpation of the throne. Even if that scene between Alicent and Viserys didn't happen, Otto and the small council would've still usurped the throne anyways because they've been planning on it already for years without Alicent's knowledge. The same thing with Luke and Aemond. That tragic ending was just the first blood of the war. Even if Luke survived and went home to Dragonstone safely, the Dance would still happen which is literally the reason why they're travelling around Westeros gathering allies. Luke would just report to Rhaenyra that House Baratheon will side with the Greens and that's basically it.. the plotting and the planning would still continue until the war would officially start when both sides have gathered their allies and have prepared for the battles to come. Both Alicent misunderstanding Viserys and Aemond accidentally killing Luke is nothing more but escalating the war much faster.. but they're definitely not the reasons why the Dance of the Dragons begins cause without them it would still happen anyways

Unfortunately, we know comparatively little about the biology of dragons. We know that either the Valyrians first birthed them or tamed them, we know that they formed the bulk of their military force. Hundreds of thousands of men backed by 200-300 dragons made Valyria the greatest empire the world had ever seen such that it conquered the vast majority of Essos. We know that dragons prefer heat and thrive in the heat of Volcanoes like Dragonstone. (Valyria was destroyed when a string of Volcanoes known as the Fourteen Fires simultaneously erupted.) They grow faster and bigger when not locked up and allowed to roam freely. Their flame grows hotter the longer they live. Balerion's was able to forge the Iron Throne and melt the 5 towers of Harrenhal like twisted candles. They never stop growing until they are extremely old, Vhagar is approaching the size of Balerion the Black Dread. Dragons only bond with 1 rider at a time, and riders may only bond with 1 dragon at a time. Gaining a dragon's trust is crucial to taming them. Some dragons refuse to be tamed at all. Daemon mentions the 3 'wild' dragons. Some will only be tamed by one rider. Vhagar is on its 4th rider because of how long she has lived. Dragons are known to be solitary creatures otherwise. Dragons eat cooked meat, but tastes differ. The wild dragon Sheepstealer was very fond of mutton, whilst Grey Ghost preferred fish and generally stayed away from humans and their works for years at a time. The Cannibal feasted on the carcasses of dead dragons or dragon eggs. The sex of dragons is difficult to determine. Septon Barth held that they were changeable as flame, able to spontaneously change their sex depending on environment. Yet some dragons were repeatedly recorded as female (like Vhagar,) whilst Vermithor (that Daemon was singing to,) is always recorded as male. Dragons produce eggs in clutches, but not all dragon eggs hatch, it is unknown whether the eggs require fertilisation or if the participation of a second dragon in some way is necessary. Dragons respond to High Valyrian, which is also a language filled with magic. It is widely assumed that Daenerys' blood sacrifice of the witch in Game of Thrones awoke her dragon eggs and allowed them to be born. Most of the knowledge regarding dragons has unfortunately been lost, although various works like Blood and Fire, Fires of the Freehold and Septon Barth's Unnatural History do survive to Daenerys's time often in fragmented form, unfortunately these texts contradict each other in various ways.

The Daemon put his hand on Rhaenyra was it because of the prophecy because viserys didn't tell him (this doesn't exist in the books the Writers vented in the series) I understand the fight we both have because they don't talk like that on the same page, make the daemon put his hand on Rhaenyra, I think that was over the top, it wasn't necessary and the moment the daemon lets go of rhaenyra, you can see in the eyes of the daemon and Rhaenyra that they are both suffering and Rhaenyra says she never told you that and she smirks because she's realizing that the viserys chose her as heir to the throne because viserys didn't tell the daemon and Rhaenyra thought viserys had told him because the daemon had 10 years as heir and Viserys and after those 10 years, viserys never told him so he keeps imagining in the daemon's head how my brother who i loved so much never trusted me right now the daemon must be very hurt because daemon always wanted to show his worth to viserys and he loves his brother the daemon and a person who he has a hot head, he is proud, but he also has feelings, but sometimes he ends up expressing it wrong, then the daemon loses another child because he already lost one, then he discovers that his brother died Then later he discovers that his brother never trusted him and that it hurts his heart and daemon is feeling all of this but he ends up putting everyone else these feelings in rhaenyra who is not to blame it's the moment he lets go she sees his eyes of sadness and before he leaves if you notice he looks down he looks at her belly Then he remembers the daughter they lost, Daemon didn't stay with Rhaenyra because he didn't want to make the same choice he made with Laena the daemon has truama in fact the daemon always had for those who don't know the daemon's mother died in childbirth so the daemon already has a trauma because he never wanted to have children, so the daemon didn't want to be with Rhaenyra so he wouldn't make the same choice there when Rhaenyra loses the child Rhaenyra Stays with the daughter since the daemon goes to the beach to suffer there that reminded me in the first episode of the throne scene there is a daemon and viserys is the daemon tells viserys that each person suffers in a different way, and it reminds me of the scene the two are suffering each alone but rhaenyra and daemon are grieving for their daughter unfortunately we didn't see much of the other side of the daemon this season because the writers and HBO preferred not to show in my opinion the most wronged is Matt Smith Mano he made several scenes of the daemon showing the sentimental side of the daemon him hugging his daughters is him on the beach grieving for the death of his daughter with Rhaenyra and he spends hours and hours on the floor grieving for visenya's death and we simply received in this episode just a quick scene of him grieving for his daughter in the book it says a lot that the daemon is a great father and that he loved his two Wives Laena and Rhaenyra unlike the series which showed very little and I think it's really sad because they're not showing the real daemon Of course he's hot headed and he's crazy but man he loves his family he would never hurt his family until the actor himself says that the daemon would give his life for Viserys is Rhaenyra and very sad what they are doing to this character. The scene at the end was matt's idea he had an idea that who should break the news of luke's death should be the daemon there the writers and emma give up the idea there they did, if you notice it at the time of the scene when daemon enters in the room rhaenyra's attention goes all to the daemon because she knows that something has happened and on the way the daemon is approaching rhaenyra you notice that he puts a hand on his face indicating that he cried there when he got closer to rhaenyra he didn 't even be able to look us in her eyes I'm sorry for Rhaenyra, she lost her father and didn't even say goodbye to her father and didn't even go to the funeral, it's not even known if it was because she didn't attend Viserys' funeral and even more Rhaenyra lost two children Luke is Visenya, In the Book Rhaenyra She blames the greens for the death of her baby and if you think she's right because she lost the baby it was because of the greens, her own brother stole her throne is Alicent hid the death of Viserys , Rhaenyra is pregnant, we all know that one woman cannot take too much emotion or stress because it is dangerous for the baby and she got the news right away. She lost the throne, Losing her father was a lot of emotion and stress for Rhaenyra all because of the Greens, so yes, the Greens were to blame for her daughter's death, she would be the first daughter Rhaenyra would have with Daemon. 1:57 Daemon thinks that viserys was murdered because the greens made Aegon king right away and saved all the people in prison, not to mention that viserys is dead and this is all suspect, so of course Daemon or anyone else will think that viserys was murdered because the greens hid the death of viserys and they quickly put Aegon on the throne and when that nobody says Nothing to Rhaenyra so it's very suspicious so I understand Daemon's side of he's upset and angry is that now he wants revenge is we can't forget that Daemon and Rhaenyra are in Mourning but I also understand Rhaenyra's side of not wanting to go to war, what She was doing is right, a king has to keep the peace and Rhaenyra was trying everything not to go to the war and not having blood But now it's too late now it's war Rhaenyra has lost many things and now she has to fight for her Throne and for the lives of her children 3:03 what Rhaenyra said in that scene to me doesn't make sense she said that Daemon is crazy and that he's fighting his own war if you remember right in episode 7 Rhaenyra tells Daemon that she needs him and that she couldn't do this alone , so she's asking him for help, here comes this scene where Rhaenyra says Daemon is waging his own war for me It doesn't make sense, Daemon is protecting his family, he's doing what she asked him to do in episode 7, I think it was a Script Hole because it doesn't make sense in my opinion 6:17 This scene with Rhaenyra was very beautiful, you can see that it was very different from Aegon, the two scenes are different, the music in both scenes is very good, no one can deny that, in the scene with Aegon, no one gets on their knees for him, in the scene with Rhaenyra everyone they get on their knees because she is the true heir to the Iron Throne, and I also noticed the reference in episode 8 when the crown of viserys fell and it was Daemon who placed the crown on viserys and now it is Daemon putting the crown on his wife his Queen 9:13 It makes reference to Episode 2,the difference between the two scenes and that in Episode 2 Rhaenyra was on Otto's side, It is now in this scene that Rhaenyra is on Daemon's side 10:24 This Scene references Episode 1 when Rhaenyra rips off a piece of the Book and gives it to Alicent. The whole book is a mystery and they choose to give alicent a reason to betray rhaenyra and have Emond kill Luke by accident. But they chose Damon to be evil. He on purpose killed his wife. He didn't show love or respect for his second wife. He ignored his daughters throughout the series. We didn't see him in a scene talking to his daughters. Then he ignored rhaenyra and she was in a difficult situation during childbirth. They even went so far as to make him choke rhaenyra from the neck. I don't understand why all this evil is from him. All the characters in the book are evil. Why did they change all the characters to be sympathetic and do bad things unintentionally, but Diamond is so evil on purpose?

Besides some issues with pacing/time jumps and a personal concern they’re making the same mistake they made with Daenerys with Rhaenyra, this was a pretty great first season. For the first time since GoT season 4 I’m actually content with how HBO is adapting one of my favorite book series. Hopefully they can keep this up (just keep working with GRRM on it) and they apply the level of quality to the Dunk & Egg adaptation (the only other spinoff I want)

@thedoctor4327

@BornInsane0 The mistake was deifying Daenerys in the show and downplaying several of her negative qualities. While characters in the books did worship her as well and the show on occasion did show her doing questionable/wrong things or highlighting her weaknesses, it did feel like the show put her in too positive a light, which ultimately led to fan backlash in the final seasons when she rather abruptly lost her heroic nature. As for Rhaenyra, while she is “in the right” and her throne is being stolen from her, I kind of feel like the show is deifying her too (ie the white stag appearing before her) or painting her in too positive of a light in comparison to Alicent (ie R is a loving mother while A is distant if not abusive). Likewise while the show does occasionally address her character weaknesses (her selfish and impulsive personality causing her issues), it does really dwell on it as much as Alicent’s character weaknesses. Ultimately I found the Dance of the Dragons in the books to be a messy spat between two sets of selfish/awful people but going into the war in the show, the writers have made the Blacks, specifically Rhaenyra, much more sympathetic than the Greens
