If she thinks a lie by omission is bad then Alicent and Rhaenyra are even now because Alicent had plenty of time to tell Rhaenyra about what was going on with her dad before she was explicitly told not too.

My favorite character of the episode was that young dark skinned Valeryon brother who said nothing the whole dinner. He just sat there eating his chicken (or duck) and watched the shenanigans. This all would have been handled if 1) Alicent and Ri Ri would stop acting like mean girls and 2) Ser P-Whipped would have known his role and "shut his mouth" Jorah would have never took such a route if Daenerys gave him the same option.

I think Daemon might have found her ugly because his type tends to lean girls with light hair and little in the way of muscles and physical strength (his lover in the first episode offered to get him a light haired girl if he could not finish with her, Rhaenyra, etc.) and while Rhea was a beautiful woman, she was not his type of woman. Otto gaslighting Alicent was disgusting. Also Rhaenyra might not have necessarily needed to kill Alicent's children. The Wall was always an alternative... just speaking in theory, because in practice we all know no one was ever going to want Rhaenyra on the throne. Love Corlys loving and supporting his wife and never ever forgetting any slight against her, but he needs to listen to what she is saying too.

The thing is, Rhaenyra never said she was still a maiden. She specifically “*Daemon* never touched me.” Which was still technically a lie, Daemon touched her quite a bit. But Alicent inferred that she was still a maiden, Rhae Rhae never actually said she was

Right Otto put Alicent in the position that’s she’s in and making it seem like Rhaenyra will kill her and her kids in order to rise when in fact they could just be a team. Otto making sure that Alicent sees things his way. And Larys telling Alicent about the tea. Why? What was his motivation? Why was he stirring up mess. His daddy just became the Hand of the King so why was he being messy?

In defense of Alicent's behavior with the grieving widowed King Viserys...yes, I think her choice is defensible...Alicent is the daughter of an aristocrat in Westeros, raised fairly strictly, it's implied, in the Faith of the Seven, which emphasizes obedience to one's father. She also lost her mother at a fairly young age. And Alicent's father is a second son of a Lord of a fairly powerful house (though not a Great House); which means Otto gets nothing but what he makes himself and Alicent has no relatives who are obligated or who will feel particularly obligated to help her, other than her father. Even her brother owes obedience to her father as well as Lord Hightower, their uncle. If Alicent were to defy her father and not wear one of her mother's dresses, not pretty herself up and look attractive and appealing as a young woman rather than as that-nice-little-girl-Rhaenyra's-friend, Otto would find out about it. He probably was waiting for Alicent when she returned, for a report on what happened. Otto would simply coerce Alicent into putting on a sexy dress, one of her mother's dresses or a new dress. If Alicent refused, he could have her beaten somewhere where the marks would not show and would not impair her ability to have children. Or he could summon his brother, Lord Hightower, who would order his niece to obey his father; as her liege-lord, he would have an equal and greater authority over her than her father. Alicent would know that she could not go to Rhaenyra for help without getting her father and possibly her brother and uncle in serious trouble by association. And I don't really blame her for being afraid to do that. The few glimpses we get of Alicent and Viserys together in his room show her keeping at least a physical distance, offering emotional warmth, but not really flirting that I could see. Alicent did not seem to me like a girl who was desperate or even eager to command Viserys' attention; she seemed at ease with him and content to be in his company but not anticipating a permanent relationship. The choices that condemn Alicent, in my opinion, came later. I think she was pushed into her role as Viserys' queen and paid for it ever since. Viserys should have chosen Laena and waited three years to consummate the marriage, and arranged a good marriage elsewhere for Alicent, with a younger lord who would have some wealth and, most importantly, kindness and attentiveness to her.

i don't get the dislike for Allicent she has been the most decent person these past few episodes. In episode 1 she had no choice but to bed the king due to her father, then in episode 2 and 3 she tries her hardest to repair her friendship with Rhaenyra, which seemingly was so in episode 4, only to then be lied to by her "friend" believing Rhaenyra instead of her father, which resulted in his expulsion(Otto was already doing shady stuff but this was the catalyst that caused him being replaced as Hand) So now that she's found out that Rhaenyra has lied to her, Otto's words (that Rhaenyra would put her children to the sword) turned from a frightening possibility to a terrifying actuality, she can no longer take Rhaenyra's word that she wouldn't do what her father has warned her. So now she no longer bears Targaryen colors (for the past episodes we have only seen her wear blue or black and red which is Targaryen colors) now she stops trying to appease both sides and finally chooses a side she chooses Hightower (Green) as from the seeds planted by her father she can no longer trust her "friend".

I honestly did not love how stupid they made Criston in this episode. It just reeked that trope of lazy writing whereby you have to make an otherwise smart character, incredibly stupid for the purpose of moving the plot along, and have them doing things they'd never in a million years do in the guise of the normal character you've established them as. (See : Season 6,7 and 8 Tyrion Lannister and Varys Also,.....all the Alien prequels, and any other terrible horror movie from the 20th and 21st Centuries) That he honestly truly believed he could ever (successful) abscond with the named heir to the Iron Throne and live out a romantic life of Witness Protection-like anonymity in Essos, somehow evading the wrath of a) Corlys, who would have been robbed of this great prize of his son marrying the heir to the Iron Throne and his family tied to their legacy forever, and with all his resources of the greatest fleet in both Westeros and Essos, along with his immense wealth as the richest man in the Kingdom with enough wealth to buy several tens of thousands of Sellswords ten times over to hunt them won..... ....and b) Viserys himself, who would be a father thinking that his daughter has for all intents and purposes been abducted, and who would have all the resources of the Seven realms,..... ...was beyond the bounds of stupidity and bad writing. And don't tell me anything like, "he was blinded by love" He's been sensible enough up to this point to know and realize what the consequence of such an action would be, but now suddenly he's too love-struck to think straight. And don't even get me started on his hair-trigger ill-advised confession to Alicent, or his fit-of-rage beat down of Joffrey. I just really really hate it when you have to do that to a character you've already established has more sense than that, be reduced to such stupidity. It just reeks of lazy writing because they could have gotten to the plot point they wanted without having to go this route, by other means.
