I love how misleading they made this trailer for people who don't know what actually happens in the Dance. No sense of the battle lines at all, portraying a totally different conflict from the real one. Good trailer.

So, as a book reader, I love how this trailer sets it up for those who haven’t read them (yet). If the show follows the book, y’all should be pleasantly surprised! Keep in mind, RT, this was a period where Targaryens are at their apex. There were 17 dragons at the start of the Dance (yes, the civil war), so hopefully we’ll see many flying lizards 😍

Basically almost all Targaryens had their own Dragons...

Daemon has his own dragon, Caraxes. Caraxes used to be ridden by his uncle Aemon. Dragons can only have one rider at a time so when Darmons uncle died he became Caraxes rider. Rhaenyra rides Syrax, she’s the first rider of that dragon because the egg was placed in her crib which is a Targaryen tradition and hatched and grew with her.

This is a time where the Targaryen were the most -- Targaryen -- for lack of a better descriptor. They were at the height of their power, there were a lot of them, and they had the largest and most bountiful number of dragons in Westeros history (17 when the story opens). The Dance of the Dragons marks the beginning of their downfall. Before the dance they were looked upon as gods but in the aftermath, they were seen as merely men. Its an amazing story and from the looks of it, the adaptation of it seems spot on.

The Dance of the Dragons is the civil war between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her half brother Aegon Targaryen II. Rhaenyra and Daemon never fought each other. Daemon eventually came to support Rhaenyra’s claim to the Iron Throne. The black guy is Corlys Velaryon and he and his wife Rhaenys are both Rhaenyra’s supporters too.

These were some great observations, especially just based on the trailer. It's not just the few people who 'should' be in dispute for the iron throne, it's a crisis point in Westerosi history where everyone is feeling the pressure to get theirs.

at this time the targaryen house had many dragons. The targaryens controlled dragons and no other house in westeros has any. When targaryens came from valyria it was the dragons that enabled them to conquer Westeros.

I’ll say this…. RT, if you loved Jon Snow for his BAMFness, Tyrion for his cleverness, Tywin for his ferociousness, Daario for his swashbuckling swagger, Daenerys for her (pre-Season 7) beautiful mysteriousness-then y’all, I think, are going to love Daemon Targaryen, King Viserys’ younger bro. Matt Smith portrays him and I’m certain he’s going to make at least half of y’all wearing Prince Daemon, Dark Sister (🗡), Lord of Flea Bottom, Prince of the City, King of the Stepstones, Ceraxes (🐉) hoodies and posters in the background. Guarantee! 😏

It is a civil war but not between uncle (Daemon) and niece (Rhanerya) but between sister (Rhanerya) and half brother (Aegon 2nd). They’re all dragon riders and Daemon rides Carexes the red and black dragon you see in the trailer.

You guys are sharp! You picked up a lot from the trailer. Definitely looking forward to your reactions once the show premieres. Just wanna say that some parts of the trailer are misleading, so there are lots of surprises, twists, turns, and epicness ahead.

There's a total of 34 dragons before GoT Blarion The Black Dread, Vhagar, Meraxes, Quicksilver, Vermithor, Caraxes, Morghul, Silverwing, Sunfyre, Tessarion, Shrykos, Vermax, Syrax, Tyraxes, Sheepstealer, Grey Ghost, Morning, Stormcloud, Meleys, Moondancer, Arrax, Dreamfyre, Terrax, Ghiscar, The Last Dragon, and last but not least The Cannibal (which ate other dragons). Some of these Dragons never got the chance to shine, or died young.

The Iron Throne looks really good.

The kings daughter because she’s female cannot inherit and since he has no sons it should go to his brother. But then he remarries and the new wife gives him sons. The kings brother falls in line and backs his niece over his new younger nephews who are also princes. Also in terms of the shots with dragons and daemon the uncle those are flashbacks in their personal stories. Just being a Targaryen they are all equal in taming dragons.

In this world the Targaryens rule and there are several of them. Each has their own dragon. In the lore each Targ baby had a dragon egg placed in their crib. So yeah the males have the physical battle aspect - but they are all Dragon riders - female and male. Which they use to devastating effect during the civil war. The outriders here are House Hightower - who’s Lord is Hand of the King and who’s daughter ends up as the second wife of the King - which ignites the trouble.

The civil war is not between the kings daughter and brother, il just day that.

The show is based on the book Fire and Blood which covers the history of the Targaryens. It is one of the two original pitches George made to HBO about a successor show way back in 2016.The show covers a part of the Targaryen history known as the Dance of the Dragons which is the Targaryen Civil War.The story takes place 200 years before the start of Game of Thrones and 100 years after Aegon's Conquest of Westeros. In this era Targaryens are all experts at trying their dragons. By the time Daenerys comes around the lore and Magic of how to train a dragoon is all but gone evident in Danny’s lack of knowledge.

He seduced and married Rhaenyra, so he could be king consort. The battle came when Aegon II claimed his rights to the throne as he was the eldest son and so ..... He and Rhaenyra fought to death, some took his side and some hers, dragonriders fighting with their dragons in the sky.. hereby The Dance of Dragons

Not sure if you know that there are actually 3 people in contention for the throne....Daemon, Rhaenyra and Alicent and King Viserys's child Aegon...and the eventual war brings it down to just Rhaenyra and Aegon....which Rhaenyra is the "Blacks" and Aegon (Alicent Hightower) are the "Greens"

All the Targaryens have dragons at this time from a a young age…this is when there was many dragons at this time not like when only dany had a dragon. He been had a dragon he don’t have to train a dragon or anything lol he was giving that egg to his kid maybe. Also those 2 never actually fight for the throne it’s her brother that’s born years later who’s she’s fighting for the throne.

She ends up marrying her uncle they are not against each other. Sorry if I came out too strong but I’m a real fan of a song of ice and fire and everything Westeros.
