When they arrived, they entered without backup because people were screaming and cursing at each other. People could be in trouble. They call for backup as the enter, and when they get in a scuffle in the apartment, they rush the backup along. Backup couldn't afford to come to the apartment if it was nothing because they'd have to stop covering the streets, so they waited until they were actually needed because of an escalation. Waiting outside for backup could have led to deaths, and the lack of funding means they need to go in alone immediately. They don't play anything up for the cameras because they're the police. Law and justice comes before TV drama, they don't need to stage anything. This is real.

Yep, there were several people I was told not to serve Stella to when I worked in a pub over 20 years ago! Only problem was it was a bikers pub although they behaved better than the Gary Lager lot. They self policed the place, rarely trouble and if so sorted quickly.
