Thank you for those 2 quick tips- as a severely arthritic person with crippled hands I was able to trouble shoot my running toilet by doing both of those tips and prevented needing to replace the unit and depend on a handyman... Go Canada =^..^=

Hi Shannon! I can't get over how much you remind me of a friend from (5th grade? ish?) whose name was Shannon...and lived a couple of doors down from me in Seal Beach, California....and he was from Canada too (I assume you're from Canada with that accent). I know I already asked you if you lived there as a kid and you said no.....but, if that's true, I swear you have a doppelganger out there somewhere! Thanks for all of the amazingly helpful videos, btw! I'm getting ready to have an addition built and I feel like I know all kinds of things that will be helpful in the process.

The big improvement I did in my house (before I replaced the toilets with low flows) was replacing the multi turn valves with 1/4 turn water valves. I really like those.

Thanks for this video. Got to tell you, I just changed my shutoff valve last week and I thought a 16 minute vid would be too long for such a job. You covered everything very well. Wish I had thought of just replacing the top portion without removing the bottom stem. Although it only took me about 15-20 minutes for my job, getting the tank completely dry before removing the old valve was kind of a bother. It would have been a cinch with just the the top portion replacement. As always, very well done and the cameraman knew exactly where to go with the camera when needed...

Thank you so much! I've been wanting to do this but did not know how! I have the old school type and I have to remember to jiggle the handle all the time or it keeps running! A couple of weeks ago I went for a overnight at my daughter and did not know the tank was running! My electric went up 12 dollars! Thanks so much!

Thanks Shannon for the great tips!! We don't have Styrofoam lining in the Midwest and Southern parts of the USA. Guess it controls the water temp in the North.

it keeps the tanks from sweating. Our water comes in very cold in the winter so the warmth of the house can make the tanks sweat.

Ok, didn't know I could pull the float off the tube. That may be useful in the future. I've replaced gaskets but not the whole unit yet.

Thank you, Shannon. Well done. In a future video, can you mention what to do when your toilet occasionally drains out and doesn't completely cover the drain exit line? Is the solution to simply pour in more water? Flush repeatedly? Ignore it?

You can use a sponge to suck up any water if you don’t have a pan.

In regards to the shut off valve, do you turn it all the way on ? I find if I don't have mine all the way on it drips a bit.

Here’s a stupid question...would it be beneficial to add plumbers tape on the treads to the new pipe where the water main pipe treads on?

Never seen a failure on these other then the seal which they sell for $2, which normal causes slow fill. On any toilet always make sure the overflow can keep up with the fill amount, if not throttle down the water valve.

Grrr. Why in this Lord's world do they STILL make them with that hard to get to gap betw the toilet base & the wall in the back? Why not make them flush? Pun intended 😁
