The only "dislike" votes on this video have to be from rival contractors, because this guy is outstanding at his job!

In my opinion these are the best deck videos on KZfaq right here folks. At least for us beginners and DIY’s that aren’t completely set in our ways and willing to learn a thing or two.

8 years since you've posted this.. and just as relevant, so much so that after watching NUMEROUS videos.. today is the day I get my deck with those inner posts and picture frame style border done just like you've done! The time you spent going over even the smallest things saves people time AND money! Thank you!

Your are a very serious and responsible teacher. You are not the one who just show off your skill or just making money. Your big concern is our success in our projects!

I REALLY like how you dull the volume down when you use the tools. It is funny how I am so used to turning down the volume when I see people pick up a saw. Not for your videos!

Shannon, thank you for this video series. It gave me the courage and guidance to knock down my old rotten deck and rebuilt it using your techniques!

Do you really need the cross beaming if you don't plan on putting heavy stuff on the deck? Trying to save cost on a 12x10 deck running 2x6 joists every foot

I like how you speed up finishing a task so it is still viewable and not just edited. Also the fact that if you make an error, you correct it on camera as it gives a sense that we all do it. Very informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who has to flip the speed square over 2-3 times to get the 45' in the right direction. Your vids are without a doubt some of the best instructional series.
