Hoverboard Troubleshooting Calibration
Re-calibrating the hoverboard to check whether the problem is due to calibration error. The calibration in this video is a basic straight forward hoverboard calibration. Precise hoverboard calibration:

The problem is still remained. Thus, the failure factor is not from the calibration error.
Initial Hoverboard Troubleshooting
All LEDs are working except indicator LED, it is likely that mainboard is failed.
Next, we check the motor connection to the mainboard, by unplugging one wire at a time. We start with blue wire, and we found that unplugging the blue wire will resolve the wheel stuck issue. Unplugging other wires doesn’t resolve the issue. Therefore, it proves that the wheel doesn’t failed, but the mainboard is having short circuit on the blue connection.
Replacing the hoverboard mainboard
Since we know that the problem is came from the mainboard, we have to replace it. The mainboard could be repaired by checking the failure electronic component and replace it. However, the mainboard repair will not cover in this video. If you would like to know about mainboard repair, please write in the comment to let us know. We will publish another video on mainboard repair.
First, you have to unplug every single wire in the self-balancing scooter. Don’t worry about messing up the connection, it won’t. Every wire is color coded and each of the socket is unique, which means you can’t fit a wrong cable to the wrong socket. Next, remove 4 screw that screw on the mainboard metal piece to the hoverboard frame. Note: It is NOT to remove the screws on the mainboard’s transistors. After that, take the mainboard out and start to pull the cable out slowly.
Installing the new hoverboard mainboard
There are 3 long cables and a battery cable which will be fit into the center pin tube. Start inserting with the motor cable with 3 independent wires, then color by the black socket cable. Push it half way in, and start to insert the battery cable. Push the cables in and pull from the other side until the mainboard is ready to get into the position. Note: It doesn’t need to pull it tightly. Next, fix the mainboard to the frame by using 4 screws. After that, re-connect every wire in the self-balancing scooter.
Hoverboard problem checking
For the checking process, we need to turn on the hoverboard. You can do it by using the power button on the casing or using a conductor to touch on the power button terminal (this is not advice for beginner because you might short a wrong component). The device is turned on, and the wheel is rotating when the pedal is pressed. So it seems that the problem is fixed by replacing the mainboard.
Re-assembling the hoverboard
Since the hoverboard is working, it’s time to put everything back. First, we arrange all the wires and socket. Then we proceed to close the casing. For the battery side, the casing has only 1 cable, which is to be connected on the side board 3 pins socket. For mainboard side, the casing has 3 cables, corresponding to charging cable (4 pins socket), power button (2 pins socket), and front LED (3 pins socket). There are 2 types of screw on the casing; that are sharp head screw, use on plastic to plastic interface, particularly used on the corner screw hole of each casing side. The rest of the screws are flat head screw; it is the same screw to the mainboard. It fit to the rest of the screw hole (plastic to metal).
Final testing
Everything is done, so let’s have a ride to test it. The coolwheel hoverboard running smooth and the problem is solved.
