I'm missing the air intake didn't come with my bike, you can see the choke and see it cover the hole when you move the lever. When I turn the fuel line to on it pours out of the carburetor from the choke hole. Is that normal since I'm missing the air intake?

this is known as a CV Carborator.some even have a sloped plunger and an extra return spring. The most common problem for not starting is a stuck needle valve in the float bowl. you may have to retune the needle valve a good rule of thumb is to start the engine to rich and make it leaner for a 2 cycle engine you never want to fuel starve an engine that relies on the fuel for lubrication.

sir good day, i have a problem with my carburator, every time i park my motorcycle after a minute ride the fuel get out in over flow hose? how can i fix it? thanks
@gerardjones78813 жыл бұрын
the float needle is not seating properly, it should block incoming fuel when the float is at the top. Other reason is the float might be leaking.
@64davrecon7 жыл бұрын
Looking at the picture at 16:06, there is what looks like an adjustment screw on the right hand side, and then another port behind it with a gold plastic cap over it and what looks like stranded wire sticking out the bottom of it into the float bowl.....What are these two items and what do they do? Thx
@pauls57457 жыл бұрын
that's a primer button and the tube that goes down into the fuel. it doesn't really work, but it's supposed to pressurize the bowl and force a little fuel up into the venturi to aid in startup
@rabbitfootedkitty13396 жыл бұрын
My best guess would be the screw adjusts the low air fuel mixture and maybe the gold cap is a vent but that is my question too.
@matthewweisenburger20957 жыл бұрын
the slide (the part in green) contorls air flow. the fuel comes in through the brass nipple into the float bowl. the float regulates the amount of fuel in the bowl and as the bowl fills up the float floats up pushing a neeple attached to the float up into the hole in which the fuel comes from to keep from over filling the bowl. fuel is then pulled out of the bowl by ventury (i think thats how its spelled) through a tiny hole called a jet. the jet controls how much fuel the engine gets and you can change the jet to change the air/fuel ratio. the more the slide is opened the more air is pulled through the carb. the air pulled through the more fuel sucked through the jet.
@151rumsnow7 жыл бұрын
Venturi. Good explanations, why do asshats like this dude, that only half, kinda, knows what they are saying, make these videos. Stupidity.
@gerardjones78813 жыл бұрын
ahh ok, thats what I was looking for. My idle is good but my high end leans out. So I need to open the jet slightly to allow more fuel to pass. The kid is lacking a dynamic description, he only explains the static condition.
you should do a video on what's the difference between a standard carburetor and a high performance carburetor.
@matthewweisenburger20957 жыл бұрын
there is no difference on 2 stroke carbs except the volume of air that can flow through it and the engine will only pull so much air so a "high performance carb" wont improve power unless your engine is high performance.

It then started fine and idled fine, then I drove my bike for a little bit and then suddenly the rpm's went quite high when not touching the throttle? I didn't have much fuel in my tank, I think it was empty but will it do it again when I put fuel back in the tank

I think you should make a carburetor maintenance Video, if you could: thing's to look out for and thing's important to check and maintaining maybe schedule suggestion. One more thing, I don't know how many people have got sugar added to the tank( you know what follow's) but I did, and I wonder if the carburetor got toasted or it can be cleaned and saved?

Hi on my 80cc engine, it won't start, I have good spark, i place my finger over sparkplug hole, i feel pressure and vacuum, i replace sparkplug, i take carburetor off manifold, i place finger over the hole turn over motor, no sucktion, so it's not sucking in fuel, I'm asking, what can be the problem? Rings? Maybe piston in backwards? I've been fighting this for 2 weeks now, any suggestions please, I'm feeling pretty lame and frustrated. Thanks

Probably not using high octane gas. 93 octane is suggested. Detonation sounds like. My guess. am no pro though.
@Obamafaux3 жыл бұрын
Not a drum but a reservoir or bowl. You should have explained the Venturi principle where the moving air from intake. That pressure is positive to the surface of the fuel in the reservoir. Hence allowing fuel to rise up the jet, which of course is regulated by the pin. Lowest notched pin allows more fuel to rise, higher notched pin, lower amount of fuel. The fuel that makes it up is mixed turbulently by that same vaccum air from intake. The higher the throttle, the higher the vacuum, hence both air volume and fuel volume increase. Their flow rates increase and must be dissipated by the explosion inside piston. 2 cycle, oil/gas 1 stroke grab the fuel/oil/air into piston, another stroke to compress, explode, and discharge exhaust. Great video though
@EricVega20208 жыл бұрын
Fairly easy explanation. I've recently acquired one of these little motors and the first thing I did was to tear apart the carb and clean it out. Just a couple of points. The bottom of the carburetor is commonly referred to as the bowl, not the drum. I did have one question; what is the purpose of the spring-loaded pin on the side of the carburetor opposite the fuel inlet? It doesn't seem to have any adjustment, and its in the wrong place to be a bowl drain...Ideas?
@buzzardsbass11378 жыл бұрын
+Eric Vega It's the bowl shut off. When fuel fills the bowl, the float raises and that little valve and shut off the fuel into the bowl (somewhat). I say :"some what" because, if you do not have your tank petcock closed then fuel can and will continue to seep into the bowl, getting by that little float valve. And yes, the guy making the video is more concerned with making the video than actually knowing WTF he's talking about.
@EricVega20208 жыл бұрын
+Buzzards Bass no, I'm not talking about the needle valve which is controlled by the float. There is a spring screw on the outside of the carb that I can't figure out. Maybe a mixture screw?
@buzzardsbass11378 жыл бұрын
That's the IDLE screw. Stock adjustment AKA the place to START when you don't know where you are; or, as you did, you cleaned it so everything is now virginal again. Turn that spring loaded IDLE screw all the way in and then back it out four full turns. That's the starting point. Fire it up. Warm it up. You'll have a good idea where to go for idle adjustment. To LOWER the idle you turn that screw counter clockwise (OUT).

You should explain what the float tickler does. Most people think its a primer pump.

So my bike only runs with the air filter button facing up. When im driving and push it down to take speed it shuts off. I been driving it wile is up,but is slow. Can you explain why when i push it down it wont work?
@bikeberry6 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about the choke valve, it is intended to be ran in the up/off position. The purpose of a choke valve is to provide a leaner supply of fuel during start; typically needed in cold conditions. Putting the choke valve to the down/on position will restrict the supply of air, that is a critical mistake at higher speeds. If the engine is not performing as intended, the carburetor idle screw may need adjusting. Start at a default neutral position, about 3 full turns off from being all the way in. Adjust it a half turn at a time, in or out, to find the ideal idol rpm. Another problem may be a loose compression head. Check that all bolts are properly tightened and that the head is securely seated.
@antoniodelvalee75726 жыл бұрын
Yes,it turns on n rides when cold facing up,but when i pull it down to take speed once is warm,it shuts off. It only rides wile is up. 10 miles. Slow. Put i push it little by little down it starts taking speed than it shuts off so i pull it up n it turns back on.
@bikeberry6 жыл бұрын
Our apologizes, we seem to have miss worded our instructions. We meant to say that it is a critical mistake at higher speeds to have it in the down/on position. Having it down will restrict the flow of air, which is needed for combustion. Having the choke on is only needed when trying to start the engine, specifically if it is cold; it should never be turned on when riding, as it will impede performance. The problem seems to be an issue with the fuel and air mixture. We have a video on adjusting the carburetor which should solve your problem. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jqeRfrZ6rsXakqM.html

Dale, those are a typical 10.00 carb for motorized bikes from China. You can get them all day long for around 12 dollars on E-bay. Ive replaced my stock Mikunis on Suzuki JR 50's with these and made them twice as fast after mods so dont count them out. For the price and simplicity they are pretty cool carbs.

@nikolasstankovic67944 жыл бұрын
Daniel Terry choke just controls how much air goes in the engine. When you turn your engine on, you keep the choke closed and then as the engine idles you want to slowly open the choke valve to let more air in

Thank you ... Nice explanation ... ! Also I think the lever like thing made of brass will be the choke ... Right ..? Most of the time I am confused that , The choke is intended for cold start purpose ( Allowing more fuel flow to the carburetor ) ... then why we are putting the motorcycle in choked mode when we have not enough fuel in the tank .. ?

Not a bad description visually but Matt should be ashamed of himself for a mechanical engineer. The description he gave was full of downright wrong terminology and wrong facts. Eg 8:29 the bowl (not drum)'s purpose is NOT to regulate the air fuel mixture. That's the job of the jet pin, as he correctly mentioned the little clip has four notches and adjusting the position of the clip will adjust the reatio of the mixture. The bow'ls purpose is to provide a regulated reservoir for the jet to suck fuel from. Also I would have liked to hear some more practical advice eg why you have the mixture adjustment, why where when and how it should be set, how to adjust idle screw ect.

That brass tapered rod is NOT the jet. But, it DOES go into the jet, to control the mixture. Now, WHERE is the idle mixture screw? 2 strokes need to run much richer at idle, to have a slow powerful idle. I've got 2 (or is it 3) of these CHEAP carbs, and cannot get a decent idle on any of them. I've also got the expensive carb, but that brass inlet tube FELL OUT! It also doesn't have an idle mixture screw! Yes, all 4 (or was it 3) came from BikeBerry, and is the reason I no longer shop with BikeBerry! Matt, can you get your money back, from the school that sold you the degree? You got HOSED! I didn't graduate from High School, but I KNOW the difference between a jet and a metering rod! steve

OK, for the rest of you, Matt has LOST IT! At 9 minutes or so, let me correct. That lower chamber, is the "float chamber." Called so, because it has the "float" in it. (Not the floater.) The device works surprisingly like a similar device in your bathroom. Your toilet! Both have a chamber, a float (not a floater ask Eddie Murphy and Hugh Hefner about a floater) and a shut-off valve. Oh, the "floater" doesn't push down. (10:45 or so) that would be a "sinker." the float, since it floats, (that is why they call it a "float") floats, and slows or shuts off the fuel flow. Matt, 15:55, SERIOUSLY! Talk to some Mechanics! They (we) work on this stuff. You've NEVER gotten your manicured fingers dirty! Your ignorance, (and ALL of BikeBerry's is showing! Jesus wept, lol. I appreciate your attempt to explain carbs, but your "I'm gonna ad lib it" approach is, honestly, awful. Write a script! Use it! You need to use STANDARD NOMENCLATURE for the components. That will allow the entirely ignorant noob to relate your effort to written references, parts lists, and manuals. Figure out the similes you can use that relate to common as dirt items that even the dopiest among us can relate to. Don't forget the actual "target ratios" that are needed for a gas motor of any type to actually run, lol. If I had no clue going in, this vid would only confuse me more, and possibly convince me it was a subject far beyond my ability to comprehend. That equals your company losing my biz, which I'm fairly confident isn't the goal you had in mind. The better you inform your target audience, the better the chance they will become satisfied repeat customers. That goal is entirely missed, I'm sorry to say.
