In this video, we will look at what Miyamoto Musashi had to say about achieving more with less effort, on how we constantly make things much more complicated for ourselves and do a bunch of useless stuff and drain our "energy tank". We will look at his quotes and ideas from his books Dokkodo/The Book of Five Rings.

I love the theory sometimes I over analyze and over fixate and by the time I do the task I’m already overwhelmed and have to calm myself through the task. I feel taking life with ease helps us complete tasks with a clear mind although being too careless can be a problem it’s the middle ground that promotes growth

I really liked these modern applications. I think saying “more with less effort” gives a false impression of the idea though. It’s using less energy but definitely more effort and intention. I think when people hear “get more done with less effort” they think it means easier. Effort has to be high, but energy does not.
@andyv33
@andyv33 Ай бұрын
I disagree, the less effort the better. The path of least resistance will alway be less effort. Effort is meaningless in the real world. Results, performance and efficiency are what matters. 2 software engineers can put in 1 hour of “effort” if one is more efficient they will produce more.
@Pongwise
@Pongwise Ай бұрын
@@andyv33 okay sure I understand what you’re trying to say. I’m talking about effort as in “focused intention”. If 2 people wake up and 1 person scrolls social media right away and the other goes for a walk outside in the sun (like mentioned in the video), who used more effort but also conserved more energy? Also, if your mindset is to go the path of least resistance, life will be harder, sometimes in a very subtle way, depending on your awareness.
@ponpon_27p
@ponpon_27p Ай бұрын
@@Pongwisethat’s why you take the least amount of effort for things that are good for you, in that example same amount of effort to get different things, 1 getting dopamine from social media use, the 2 goes for a walk, to maximize on effort will getting results, design your environment to allow you to apply less effort for things that benefit you, Example instead of going to sleep with you phone, lock it away before bed, in the morning start your day slow with small task that require little effort like (brushing teeth, showering, 2 min meditation, then go for a walk, it’ll feel effortless because it’s the easiest thing to do that still feels rewarding to do because you don’t have access to your phone which might be more effort to use it
@Pongwise
@Pongwise Ай бұрын
@@ponpon_27p hahah I think both of you are talking about energy. It definitely requires more effort to not use your phone if you are already used to using it before bed. Your mind will be begging you to pull it out but effort/willpower is used to not do it. Again, we are still all saying the same thing but just using different words.

Love this. I posted this last night. When we stop pushin' the current, we find our rhythm with the pulse of life. It's a sweet reminder. Empaths and sensitive souls might need extra rest and solitude. You can't fulfill your purpose without recognizing what depletes or uplifts your energy. What used to be good for you may now be draining. Ease up. Make space for yourself. Learn from my past errors that nearly cost me everything.

I think this makes a lot of sense, and I try to front load the most critical activity of the day into the morning. It's the only time when I have time to myself as a family man. I either study or work on projects for work from 4am-6:30am from Monday to Wednesday. I start the day as normal afterwards, and for the rest of the week, I try to manage my stress level so I can keep this process going for as long as possible without burnout. I may wake up early and play some games, read a book, or just just sleep from Thursday to Sunday. This way I have a high level of efficiency at the beginning of the week, and cool down until I need to start the cycle again. I've finished a crap ton of projects and read several books doing this way.

Try it out work it out and see what happens. Iterate>Hesitate Balance Nature strives for balance Despite tremendous efforts your lab results tend to "normal". Gradually then all at once normal is found to be grave. US mass suicide is like that, gravely. Culture! Murder Inc £ £ ¢ Helluva price for a helluva time. Poor value proposition, to be sure! There's all ways distractions in place of progress. Cooperation is a crime. Yet at the heart of THAT existential problem is obedience NOT defiance. 💯 Not safe 💯 NOT effective 💯 TOO common.

A few times in my life I've achieved this state of perfect avoidance of lost energy. And I'm not talking about hardcore, cold pursuit of goals here, I'm talking about doing more of what matters, goals, relationships, experiences, life. Each time I was basically scalded for my "careless" and "boring" attitude by this or that person, people very close to me whom I hold dear. I would have a close call getting ran over or some drama happened and the second the situation was over it didn't bother me whatsoever. And so I too started indulging in the muck after being afraid of trying to seem better than them, high horse stuff. Well, that shit ends now. This time I'm better equipped to deal with the questions.

I don't believe you have to be stoic to focus on pertinence. I believe the act of growing appreciation for the smaller things tends to grow our appreciation for the greater things. Stoicism can be draining as patience with yourself and others devolves to pacification. I believe the greatest things in life are a combination of all the smaller things we tend to ignore but these are key links to life itself. When i say "smaller things" I do mean anything you can shrink. The keys to the keyboard im pushing buttons are comfortable, my wrist are perfectly aligned. My fingers are moving with speed and accuracy. If i can appreciate the form and function of such a simple thing than i can type books. We must remove grandeur from the goals we set to see them as achievable.
