How a Mario Kart DS Enjoyer Would Change its Track Selection

Hello friends this is Ari, dealing with some unfortunate Adobe bugs, and today I bring to you a video on the tracks in Mario Kart DS. Since it is my favourite game, I felt qualified to make a video on it where I went over the track selection, talking about what I liked and didn't like, and making some well deserved changes. Enjoy!

Ah the memories of plaing this growing up. DS Bowser Castle NEEDS to return I LOVE IT SO MUCH

Yes I agree! I absolutely LOVE DS Bowser castle. The music, the layout, it was beautiful. Plus it couldn’t be played online so it should take priority over the others. Although since the next Mario Kart will end with GBA Rainbow Road having this or Double Dash Bowser’s Castle seems highly likely.

Very nice video I liked your nitro picks although I’m perfectly happy with DK Pass staying the same and I do like your Nitro picks. I would personally change Daisy Cruiser for Wario Colosseum if the DS could handle a smaller version of it and put Banshee Boardwalk back in lighting so the lighting is made up of track from harder cups. Also I say have GBA Rainbow Road be put in MK7 since they have no love for GBA tracks in that game.

DK Pass is probably based off of Gorilla Glacier from the original DKC game.

Well, there’s definitely some good choices here! As a side note, for Choco Island 2 and any of the SNES Bowser Castles, like with Bowser Castle 3 in Tour, I‘d like to see them reimagined in a future game, in fact, a few of them deserve to be remade!

I wouldn't mind seeing Choco Island back in a future game where the tricking mechanic is present, as long as it doesn't maintain the strange slipperiness that Choco Island seems to have for no reason.

I mean, if SNES Rainbow Road was to be in DS, might as well have N64 in Wii, GBA in 7 and GCN in 8.

I was recording on CTGP-Nitro, which uses Famicom R.O.B colouring

you removed the nitro snow course. 4/10. also the retro tracks are supposed to be from SNES to GCN per cup also also putting mario circuit in the flower cup would make the flower cup mid also also also SNES RR was in 7 and 8 and Tour so no need for a 4th one also also also also figure 8 circuit should stay since its iconic in a funny way also x 5 desert hills should be the first of the flower cup since desert hills is themed around deserts and deserts are usually hot also x 6 not removing banshee bordwalk entirely is a sin since that track is mid also x 7 that section from the 8dx version you showed is in the wrong section for your "changes" to wario stadium

Yes I removed the Nitro snow course. If you're so inclined to have one, you could give a snow rework to smth like Shroom Ridge or Mario Circuit. I rearranged the retro track orders to allow for SNES Rainbow Road to be the final course, as I explained in the video. Bearing in mind the changes I'd make to the tracks, the Flower Cup would be far from mid. Also bearing in mind the only thing that changed is Shroom Ridge being swapped, which is a B tier track at best. Yes SNES Rainbow Road was in 7, 8 and Tour. However, as Mario Kart DS came first, if this was the track selection, later games really wouldn't need it. Plus, I said in the video that I'd swap out SNES Rainbow Road in 7 While Figure-8 Circuit is iconic in a funny way, we also can't deny that no one would be complaining if it didn't exist. I'm not really sure what the point is with deserts being hot, meaning Desert Hills should be first in the Flower Cup, bearing in mind most desert tracks are in other cups, like Dry Dry Desert, Sunset Wilds and Bone Dry Dunes. I personally really enjoy Banshee Boardwalk, and see no issue with it being in Mario Kart DS The clip of the 8DX version of Wario Stadium was there to correlate with me saying "8 Deluxe remake" and not to show specifically where the changes go.

This is the worst mario kart game and fixing the track selection would make this the 6th best mario kart.

Calling it the worst when Mario Kart 64 exists is a little bit of a stretch, but we all have our opinions. Out of curiosity, what do you think makes it so bad?

@@arinoelle It has bad controls, The track selection is worst in the series with only having 5 actually good tracks but the rest range from mid to worst in the series and is overall worse than super mario kart, Mission mode is mario kart tour level on just getting the job done to pass time, Battle mode is good and in the upper half of all battle modes but they should have NEVER brought back block fort and pipe plaza they should’ve saved those for mk8 of mk7. And the effect on the series this game had was horrendous with the worst tracks from mkwii coming FROM mkds.
