Banks has always been a futurist, adopting turbocharging as the way to increase air density in a racing engine way back in the 60’s when a roots blower was all the rage. Today on legends we will dive into how an engine builder in California became the king of Diesels.

As a diesel owner I love that we have people like him in the industry. With the crackdown on the industry from the EPA it's forcing a lot of new innovative designs in injectors and pistons which do more to limit emissions than the horribly designed ones we have on trucks today. Innovation is key.

it's honestly a singular aspect of actual motorsports taken out of context and made ridiculous. high power diesel builds spit out soot naturally just because the huge amount of fuel being dumped into the engine can't always all be burned, similar to gas engines spitting flames. some people probably saw both of these at the race track and said "what if we did just that, it'll almost look like the race trucks/cars haha" but it just looks dumb when it isn't backed up by actual power increases

Thank you for honoring this man he is a true legend and most people don't even know about him and that he's still continuing even at eighty plus and still making the best diesel products in the market. He has a huge contract with the department of defense making Duramax engines even better for the Oshkosh and I believe another vehicle in the military, and when you're making stuff for the department of defense that truly is saying something. He and his shop are so impressive especially with all the free knowledge he has on his channel and how he keeps it all LEGAL 50 state and still makes tons of power if not more power more reliably and better than almost anybody else. And that's from somebody who drives a 2001 5.9 Cummins. He is truly the diesel Guru. And remember rolling coal is just wasted fuel. And Gale Banks believe that engineers that said that in many vids. My diesel engine just produces a tiny little black cloud at startup and it is tiny and even when I mash the gas there is no rolling coal and it GOES.

I guess it’s arguably, but the 89 turbo trans am of 89 was the superior powertrain by comparison. The 3.8 sfi turbo intercooled gnx with 2 years of advancements in a lightweight f body supporting the gn engine was and still is a monster. Only beaten by the 4.3 awd system in the typhoon and syclone 60/40 split it was a monster. The gn, syclone, and typhoon were much quicker than the corvette a unspoken no no amongst gm vehicles.
