It seems like America was flourishing better when we just focused on our country and wasn’t trying to better other nations. Call me selfish but I wish we returned to that minus the racism and inequalities. Our leaders seemed like they cared about improving the country and not trying to fill their pockets.

Everyone knew slavery was atrocious and immoral in that generation. I don’t care how much a criminal spends on his criminal enterprise, I am not going to help him recover his lost profits especially when those profits are in the form of human beings. I was born in the 90s so I’ve only ever lived in a post Cold War America being the world police. It doesn’t look like all that much good came back to America we lost our manufacturing and our leaders have become greedy and immoral willing to support bad nations and overthrow nations that don’t align with us. I don’t understand why we can send billions of dollars to Ukraine and Israel but say building a high speed railroad system or having free healthcare is too expensive . Since the 1950s America has spend billions of dollars in waste supporting weak nations that failed like South Vietnam or turn a stable nation into a lawless one like Iraq. After the 1950s and 1960s saw America fixing and trying to heal our nations sins It seems like the start of Americas decline begin in the 1970s. I’ve grown up and live in a time where they told us cheap manufacturing would keep our cost low now look at us. They told us automation would keep our cost low now look at us. I’ve always heard gas will never go back down like it used to be even though we produce the most oil in the world and border 2 large oil producers as well. The whole reason we accept globalization was to better ourselves and yet America lost itself in the process.

I guarantee that I know more about this topic then you. The same thing nearly happened in 1832 when South Carolina nearly seceded due to taxes. The fact is that Abraham Lincoln sought to raise taxes which he did during his presidency (by 50%!) What got the south pissed off and ready to secede had already been occurring throughout the previous decades but it was the election of a staunch Northerner which finally broke the camels back.
