Attack on Titan is a story that means a lot to me. In this essay, I show how it questions the morality of traditional Shonen anime like Dragon Ball Z and use Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy about the death of god to decode its message.
Does anyone even read descriptions anymore? Let me know in the comments lmao

I couldn’t disagree with you more about this nonsense of “resentment” being Eren & Grisha’s main motivation. When Eren saw his hometown destroyed and his sweet mother devoured by a Titan that was his Bruce Wayne deciding to become The Batman moment! Bruce Wayne became The Dark Knight because there was no Dark Knight around to save his parents lives. Eren Yeager vowed to become a Titan Slayer to prevent anyone else suffering a brutal loss like he did. How dare you try to take that from him! Eren was so dedicated to his vow to not let anyone else be eaten by a Titan that he jumped into a Titan’s mouth to pull out his best friend Armin and save his life at the cost of his own. He deserved to be awarded the highest Medal of Honor and Valor that the military can give for that act alone. Grisha Yeager was motivated by righteous indignation not resentment. Even though every Eldian in Marley has a right to be resentful for being treated so poorly for things they’re neither to blame for or guilty of.

This video was worth my time down to the very last second. Absolutely amazing video and analysis of attack on titan, I couldn't agree more with your points. You have a real talent in not only analyzing the show, but also presenting your points and articulating the meaning of the story in an engaging and meaningful way. I am shocked by just how little traction this video has, but I am so glad to have seen this small hidden gem on the internet. Once again, I just have to say, amazing video!

Honestly, I'm just glad it's getting any traction at all. The fact that people are discussing and thinking about it was my goal all along so, from that POV, I feel like it succeeded. Not that I would mind more views, obviously, but I'm just grateful for comments like yours that reassure me I didn't waste my time speaking into a void. Thanks for watching!

One of the best looks into AOT I've ever seen. I can tell this video took a while, so many people critic AOT by saying it doesn't have a good story and I do think it is largely because many people ignore character arcs and focus on the plot too much.

Totally worth the time, and thank you for putting your thoughts out here! It's really refreshing to see AoT analysis that covers the fascistic overtones critically and breaks down the whys and hows of the tragedy/warning contained in Eren's arc in particular instead of just "waah, fascism bad". The Sasha/Kaya section is also A+, the number of people who actually break down why Sasha is story-critical and don't just throw out the potato girl memes and move on are so few, it was good to get your thoughts on it.

Genuinely such a fantastic video! You did a great job at covering all the themes the story is trying to put out. The fact that Isayama clearly condemns genocide & some still think he's a fascist is crazy. Also glad that your next video is on Hxh, another shonen which subverts many tropes.

I agree with Eren's actions for one main reason, because in his position I would do the exact same thing. If it came down to me, my people, my nation, and everyone I've ever known and loved versus everyone else in the entire world I would choose myself, my people, my nation, and everyone I've ever known and loved every time. There is no peaceful solution in Attack on Titan, everything in the story makes that abundantly clear and the final revisions to the final chapters do nothing but solidify that fact. Eldia must go or the rest of the world must go, and I do not care about the rest of the world. And to those who would say that there is the possibility of peace, ask yourself this question: do you think racism in our world will ever go away? Hell no, only in an idealists fantasy will that ever happen and the world of AoT is not ideal at all. And that's not even mentioning the fact that in the world of Attack on Titan the public consciousness' thoughts are that Eldians have kept the entire world under their brutal and bloody rule through their ability to become literal monsters for over 2000 years. Most racists in our world just hate other races for no reason, in this world there is one race responsible for 2000 years of enslavement that can also become literal monsters and have their very physiology changed at will by their leader. There is no possibility of peace.

I watched to the end it was a good video. You didn't really say it about Eren but I do feel like he really is pathetic it's good that we both see the slave part. I disliked the ending because I felt like it butchered Eren, but damn I'm really a fool that's the point even if I don't like it that's the point he is a pathetic scum bag who didn't look for any other answers.
