I think that Gonzaga were pretty well flattered their guards could not defend the ball or handle pressure basically they were never in the game which I find most weird but then I also believe that in the end whilst I suspect they beat other teams with smarts and skill baylor had smarts skills and athleticism. In terms of the game I don't think thr Zags could do anything to match Baylor if you can't stop penetration then you basically have to give up threes and Baylor shot threes at to good a clip. What really surprised me was that the zags offence was to put it simply shit. They were making poor decisions and were seemingly stunned by the pressure. The guards could not handle even the one on one pressure and at time it looked like a high school team facing a college team out there. I credit the zags coach changing it up and pulling what was their best player out of the game because simply put the match ups were not working,

I am not sure what he could have done to be fair they switched up how they defended the pick and roll and got burned every time. They either gave up lay ups or three pointers. What was worst was that the zags guards could not handle one on ne pressure they seemed to turn the ball over or make poor decisions time and time again. You can forgive the idea of baylor just having a hot shooting streak but offensively Zags were just awful both collectively and individually No timeout is solving that unfortunately.

BIG EMOTIONAL LETDOWN GONZAGA after one of the greatest games ever played I am not making an excuse for Gonzaga, nor am I taking anything away from Baylor. I actually picked Baylor an almost lock to make the NC game after I saw them beat an underrated Wisconsin team. I gave them a 45% shot at knocking off the Zags. They are the real deal and have been since Scott Drew used his talent a little differently - especially on Defense as you pointed out in your No Middle Vid. But one would have to either lie to oneself or be blind not to see this wasn't the same Zag team we've seen all year and tournament. After the first 2m of the NC game I called my boss and said - "lay off the zags immediately". You could see there was nothing there- they were emotionally spent. It had nothing to do with physical fatigue (or much) as Few pointed out after. But there was definitely a big emotional letdown. With a team as aggressive and locked in as Baylor, that game was over from the start. The Zags have some real fighters and a great energy together and they fought as hard as they could. It wasn't there. In fact, #3 - a top 20 recruit - was stumbling around like he was drunk. One particular play on Defense he almost stumbled over his own feet. The defensive coverage on the Ball Screen was terrible. There was nothing that innovative or amazing going on for Baylor - Zags were just out of it. Baylor's defense was dynamite and has been all year except for some lack of intensity coming off of the covid break. But again, the zags were like a ghost of their former selves. In fact, they were so off, that it started to effect Baylor. From roughly the last 10m of the 1st Half to the first 10 of the 2nd, the game was ugly. I actually liked Mark Few shifting his defenses. With a great bunch of kids at his disposal, I think he should have mixed it up more. HC / FC pressure - mixed with some zone (1-3-1 more than 2-3) and traps - - make it ugly. It was the best shot given the circumstances. But in the end probably nothing mattered to much. The players have to be present... the Zags were not. They are kids - I don't hold them accountable - it was just bad timing. They gave the world (along with UCLA) a game for the century. Too bad for them it happened right before the NC game.

@@unbiascowboy1537 wow. I don’t have any inside scoop on this one (sometimes I do as I work professionally for an info broker) but I find that hard to believe. I mean early on they looked that way against UCLA. And admitted that ucla punched them in the face. Maybe they felt it after they got passed UCLA That nothing could stop them. Who knows. But honestly, that was one of the greatest games I’ve ever seen in my life and I am not exaggerating one bit. I mean almost every play from tip to buzzer beater. So many great place whether it’s defense or offense. And the heart of both teams especially UCLA. Not only would it be normal to have a big let down from that game I should have called that. I apologized to my boss for that. Big mistake on my part but I like everyone else was caught up in the two-year March madness thing that was ruined by Covid and all of that and I really one of the great game. EMotions knocked out my common sense

The good news is I contacted my boss two minutes into the game and said get off of Gonzaga immediately. I could see you this with big problems. Their face is just look worn out and they look like they had nothing emotionally. At least to me. I think what happens is because it’s my job I wasn’t just looking at Baylor. I mean I could see right away Baylor was playing like they had been for most of the year and especially in March madness. But I immediately just focused on Gonzaga and that was not the same team that was playing all year. And on some of the close-ups I could see it. Completely flat for a championship game.I did tell my boss if they could pull within 10 - seriously that’s what I said - then they have a chance in the second half. But it halftime I told him again I’m just not seeing it. Again All due respect to Baylor I said back in the Wisconsin game they can win the whole thing. But Gonzaga would’ve had trouble beating any good team let alone Baylor. I’m just glad it wasn’t a fluky thing like oral Roberts win the whole thing. Baylor was a great team and are deserving. Oral Roberts played great but I wouldn’t say they are a great team

Yeah, Baylor won the title, but people are spinning this all the wrong way entirely. This team was unlike anything we've EVER seen before. Smothering defense, one of the best 3pt percentages in history. Amazing team. However, why the fuck is everyone shitting on Gonzaga? Gonzaga wasn't overrated. Baylor was underrated. I already placed money down that Gonzaga will win it all next year. They're way-too-early preseason #1 again next season, and I honestly don't see there being another Baylor next year to stop them. Gonzaga ran into a buzzsaw with defense that would have beaten the Nets. That doesn't mean Gonzaga's bad, or overrated, or will never win it all, and I wish those who are spitting those narratives would shut the fuck up. They have no idea what they're talking about. Coach K made 5 FINAL FOURS BEFORE HE WON THE TITLE. Mark Few's time will come.

I get you. But it’s also another narrative people are putting out there. They’re making excuses saying Gonzaga was tired which is bs because they both played on the same night so that would make baylor tired too. Or this just wasn’t their night. Fact is Baylor was just the better team so we need to give them credit! I do agree with you though they are not overrated, but they are not better then Baylor either.
@jalenbarnes7888
@jalenbarnes7888 3 жыл бұрын
I think the main reason why people are shitting on the Zags is the conference they play in. The WCC, it's not exactly what you would consider to be a powerhouse conference. They're really the only team good in that conference, with teams like BYU or St. Mary's occasionally having peaks. The fact of the matter is, their conference simply doesn't give them any kind of resistance or chances to really battle test them. I know that they try to schedule bigger opponents for non-conference games, but they're also playing those games early in the season, when teams are still trying to get their acts together. Let's also not forget, the best team that the Zags had faced seed wise in the tournament before the NC game was a 5-seed: Creighton (With how UCLA played you could easily make an argument they were better). My point is: how you play early in the season is much different to how you play in the dance. I don't necessarily think that the Zags were overrated per say, they were the only team coming into the tournament that had a 0 in the loss column, so they're were much deserving of the #1 overall seed. But the points that I made earlier make me skeptical in thinking if the Zags playing in their conference is truly getting them ready to get them to winning it all. I personally think they're capable of doing so, but until I actually see it happen, I'm going to have my doubts.

@@idllnghm So what about the Out of conference opponents and the tournament itself? Don’t be dense. Baylor was just the better prepared team.

Ehh idk I just think this Baylor team is underrated. They were the best team I’ve seen in the last 7 years. Gonzaga was just really good but Baylor was special! Everybody was just so focused on Gonzaga that they didn’t recognize Baylor.
