Lyanna really was badass, even in season 5, when she responded to Stannis that Bear Islands was loyal only to the Starks. Lyanna Mormont ruled even before she showed up.

Lyanna was right. During the battle of the bastards, at the Dreadfort entrance Jon picked up a Mormont shield, proving how tough the 62 men were to make it all that way. Now I know why they had to kill her off: If she had been at the council in the finale, they would’ve chosen her as queen over Bran!

Bella Ramsey is an amazing actor who totally fleshed out the character of Lyanna Mormont. She is doing an incredible job as Ellie on The Last of Us. Why ANYONE would throw shade on such a powerful actor is incomprehensible. She’s only 19 and she is already so accomplished!

Lyanna Mormont should NOT have died. Yes it was a badass scene and really showed how brave she was. But the writers could have accomplished that and let her live. I don't know why, but I felt short changed when she died. She is one that they should've left alive.

I absolutely loved it when she asked if Sansa, Lady "Sandra" was a Bolton, or if she was a Lannister. She fits the character so well. I really believed she was from Bear Island and it's leader. It's rare that women of any age can pull it off now a days.

That was so dumb, she knows Sansa was under duress, a prisoner of war, she was abused in every way and yet Lyanna shows no empathy or respect to Ned Stark's daughter and her liege lady, heir to Winterfell, it's quiet annoying how they decided to prop her up in the expense of Sansa, it reminded me how the showrunners raped Sansa to prop up Ramsey's villainy and Theon's redemption.

@@jamesmswenko8292 First of all Lyanna was questioning Sansa because many lords may not decide to join them due to Sansa having "committed" to other houses and no longer being a true Stark, especially since Jon is a bastard so if the Northern lords won't see Sansa as the legitimate heir to Winterfell then they have little claim. Secondly the showrunners didn't create the Sansa rape out of thin air, the character in Sansa's place in the book is also raped by Ramsey except its far worse (Theon is forced to take part). Sansa taking the place of fake Arya is dumb of course but they likely did it to condense storylines for the show and avoid having to flesh out the Vale, so Sansa was now the one in that already existing scenario with Ramsey.

I honestly thought it was a bit silly for her to be in the battle. On the other hand, the whole battle was staged in a pretty stupid way. It didn't matter any more. Her character was definitely an asset and I would have liked it better if she had been in the small council at the end and House Mormont hadn't died out.

Actually its not silly. She is am Mormont from bear island. On Bear Island, men often go on long ocean voyages to fish. As a result, a warrior culture developed among women to quell incursions from the ironborn.

Not really badass when it's atrociously stupid writing. That kill was given to her for the "girl power" bullshit, there is absolutely no reason for the giant to bring her alive right to his face when he could have just crushed her, same as the Night King grabbing Arya by the throat and then waiting for her to kill him. Those 2 scenes were complete femibolshevik bullshit in which the characters should have instantly died.

@@Danie1_l Generally bad writing overall is the first cause, but yes girl power is 100% what the very character of Lyanna up until and including her death is. A kid that hasn't even started puberty shit-talking lords who have far more authority and command far more respect than her and somehow nobody calling her out on it, and for her death she gets an incredible feat she didn't earn just like Arya. The only reason Lyanna isn't a Mary Sue is because she's not "loved" by the other characters since she is a child, but otherwise she has every characteristic of a Mary Sue.

The Irony of her acting is the character she portrays amazes you because usually only time and experience can give a person this much confidence makes her look like a Prodigy. But you can also apply this the the Actor. You are amazed that this kid could even pull off this acting performance that also makes the Actual person look like she's some sort of Acting Prodigy. Both the person and the character are one unit.

She had such a small amount of camera time, but when she got her time she just stood out. She was able to create a intimdation factor that you would subscribe to only Adults. Just a natural tenacity bubbling up under the surface, She forced you to remember her because she was a force herself and took over the scene.

Well I personally love her so much, the first time I heard about her was on a netflix show called hilda and I remember hearing her voice in the first season thinking it was a new up and coming actress and being so shocked that she was on game of thrones as lyanna mormont but after watching her scenes as lyanna, I think she was better than I could've ever imagined, she is muh queen.

Bella did a great job, no dispute. It was a little awkward how the writers chose the baby Mormont girl when condensing Maege's many daughters into one representative. (Was Dacey even mentioned in the show?) I think it would've been more believable if Lyanna was portrayed as just a few years older, like 13-14ish. Still, her show character was one of my favorites.

Tbf around DWD Lyanna is the one in charge of Bear Island because her older sisters weren’t there. And even in the books she was like 10? So it works partially, but it would’ve been great to see more of the older Mormont ladies earlier in the show

I thought the biggest factor that played into lyanna Mormont being a memorable character is that by that point she was in a vacuum, her lines are ok, her acting is fine but they were great by comparison to what was going on around her, which was alot of fairly mediocre writing that displays a clear lack of imagination and care from the writers at that point.

she was so good in this. a role like this could easily have been played SASSY like disney lucasfilm SASSY or disney mcu SASSY. but she came off as grounded, with a hint of vulnerability when she expressed concern for the people of bear island. other than the hound, she was basically the only character to not suck in the final season.

I kinda disagree on Lyanna. She could've been a great character but since her apperance started in S6 she is just a cheecky badass girl with no background or whatsoever, she's just there to be a badass female character. She also is one of the reasons how Jon Snow was destroyed when he was being shown as you'r mah quen simp and she was the strong one. Don't get me wrong I just didn't buy her performance due to poor writing and pure exposure of her badassness vs. really showing it. Oh yea she's badass cause she talks like a badass

Nah. This is a bad take. They should have stopped after the letter to Stannis. This is one of the reasons the seasons 5-8 went downhill. They go for fan service instead of reality. There's no way hard men like Wyman Manderly would get talked down by a 10 year old girl without retaliating.

It's the point of her character that no matter the size, what matters is charisma and authority. I can totally believe that an honorable northerner would not be so petty as to use physical violence because he feels talked down to. Lyanna speaks the truth strongly and forthrightly, which earns her the respect of the other people. This also further establishes how much the northerners value honor and tradition. Not only is Lyanna the head of an old and important house, she also impresses personally. I agree though that D&D leaned too much in the direction you mention later on. Her death scene, for example, not a fan of it. They chose to focus on character moments and stopped caring about making them make sense or fit in with the rest of the plot and world building.

In my opinion it is believable that *honorable* northern lords would respect tradition and Lyanna Mormont's station. She is also a lord/lady of a powerful house, and she is clearly knowledgeable and speaks with authority. In this context, there is no reason other than a weak ego to lash out against her, and I think that is very much something the culture in the north would look down upon. And even disregarding this cultural and personal viewpoint, even politically it would be unwise to just disrespect and walk over her. She is a lord, with actual political and military power.

@@Frankenbutt99 I found her great, but the giant kill scene was indeed idiotic. A zombie giant would have stomped her without a second glance, but the script demanded that he kneel down and hold her close to his eye, so she could stab him. Are we supposed to get the impression that wights have thoughts and emotions, feeling intrigued by that little girl or wanting to play with their food? The scene simply made no sense, same basically everything else in season 8. But ignoring that, she did a great job in season 6, I liked her a lot back then.

She talks like she experienced lifetime of ruling and talks back to her king in a sassy way. Plus this killing a giant... People love it, but all I want to do is scream at the screen "SHE IS A LITTLE GIRL AND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE GAME OF THRONES". :D
