West Ham United have problems with their recruitment and transfer strategy. Since 2010, when David Gold and David Sullivan began their takeover of the club, West Ham have spent a lot of money on a lot of players, but with limited return on their outlay and little sense of overall direction.

Interesting vid, this is why alot of our fanbase want the owners out. Yes they have spent alot but as mentioned in the vid it's on useless, injury prone players or players that don't fit the system. Haller has shown the quality he has this season but it's so clear to see playing him up front on his own doesn't work. Not to mention they sold our soul on the promise that the London Stadium would bring us Champions League football, but then we have actually gone worse as a team and re-appointed a manager who was deemed not good enough after his first stint in charge. However, Bowen and Soucek look like really good signings and Moyes wants to look at the Championship and Ligue 1 to bring in young players. We're linked with Matty Cash and Eze which would be fantastic signings. I'm still not sure about Moyes' style of football though, and wished we had hired Niko Kovac, who hasn't got a club at the moment. He took Frankfurt from relegation places up to Champions League and worked with Haller. He was exactly who we needed. Moyes was the cheaper option for the owners though. We are never going to be a "world class team in a world class stadium" as Karen Brady said.

Sad thing is underneath all the problems is a 11 that should be fighting for Europa league or at least mid table your front line could look like this RM BowenCAM fornals LM Felipe Anderson ST Haller which under the right manager would be a deadly frontline at the moment i do agree the owners are a problem however managers are the major issue Pellegrini was past it and David moyes is to negative if you got poch (which you won’t but he’s and example)he’d boost the player’s confidence and have the team playing better football

West Ham has always been one of the weirder clubs to me. Whenever I take a look at them, the team looks fairly strong on paper and they should finish at least mid-table or even contending for Europa League spots if we're strictly talking player capabilities. There seems to be way too much rambling going on behind the scenes for the club's own good

What a turnaround. David Moyes. Sullivan can still definitely go, but wow the signings of recent have been absolutely pinpoint. I was so sure we were down last season, but here we are with 38 points in 22 games. COYI.

The owners mean well about making money but don't want to spend money wisely to make the money they want to make. I always have been and always will be a West Ham boy (I am and always have been with 15 minutes travel from both the old ground and new ground. Local as they come!) so seeing all this hype for new players but not seeing the structure in place to ensure that hype is lived up to is irritating. My biggest issue with West Ham has been the consistency of their playing for years. Put us against the big dogs and we've got a chance but it never seemed to carry over to the smaller teams! That has also changed the last couple seasons to "I've had a shit week at work. Let's make my Saturday/Sunday shit too!"

The only reason they bought us was so they could move us into the Olympic Stadium, plain and simple. The only reason they bought Birmingham was to try and move them into the commonwealth stadium, but Man City beat them to it.

Big Issue I think is West Ham see a good player, buy him and then think about how he fits into the system later. Rather than recruiting for a specific type of player to play a specific role in the team. Example is the ample amount of centre midfielders brought on, and yet Noble still plays much too often because he's the only one who can add balance to the midfield and support Rice.

I have been deeply invested into the club since I started watching football more seriously, and even though that’s been about 2 to 3 years, I can see the problems with the club like a stain on a white shirt. Just sums us up really, doesn't it. The problem is simple, but we somehow don't know how to fix it and sort of make it out the otherwise ok. Ask us to draw a line on a board from one the corner to the other and we'll take the most convoluted, wiggly route possible rather than picking up a ruler.

As a West Ham fan, we need to at least hire a manager we can keep for years, to be honest, when I was younger, (still supporting West Ham) I always thought it was the manager’s fault and not the owners because I had forgot about them. Now I think about it, it’s mainly the owners and manager’s fault. We need better scouts, a better manager, better owners and we should then atleast finish better than recent years.

I used to play an indoor league over the Bay Bridge in Alameda during college and they had something of an international academy for West Ham but I could tell it was such a joke.

Another problem is that our training ground facilities are absolutley shocking. The owners don't think that spending money on improving the training ground is important even thought hat's where the players spend most of their time. If training is bad that the performance will be bad. I completley agree with you on that are transfers are so random because we only have 1 scout at the club, they sign players from agents. And our managerial appointments are random too, we sack a possession playing attacking manager in Pellegrini for a manager who plays completley different football in Moyes. Our best players are attacking midfielders or wingers yet we appoint a manager who doesn't like playing with attacking midfielders or wingers. Our club is just a complete and utter shambles and I'll stop writing now before I begin an essay.

I think Husillios was a brilliant appointment, and the pellegrini era did really boost the club. Them two were able to bring the squad up to an acceptable standard. Although the decision to sack pellegrini was right but a more ambitious manager should have Been appointed. However the problem came in 2019 transfer window when the owners sold too many players without bringing in replacements. The fact that the owners sacked husillios for the signing of roberto was ridiculous. The sacking of husillios was where the problem was. We needed a director of football to direct the team, but the owners sacked to take more control of transfers. Many can’t see the problem with the owners other than the stadium but the problem runs so much deeper. It’s the inner running of the club, poor infrastructure. Poor connection with fans and false promises never fulfilled.

West Ham need a better manager who actually has a good system in place. They’re signing players without have system to put them in so they have no idea if they fit the way they play. They’ve made good signings who aren’t performing because the lack of a good manager and system.

West Ham are purely a club that's being run for immediate profit (from creating housing on upton park and investing the minimum to stay in the Prem) As long as WHUFC are in the Prem GSB will continue to cash those tv checks. Until They buy their stadium (like Leeds), invest in their training facilities, invest in retaining developed academy players. They'll always be the best of the rest. They'll have the ability to be great but no one there to push them. In my opinion, relegation (and the chance to rebuild like leeds) may be the best thing for them.
