Name of the hotel with a beach is “Ocean Rock Beach House”.
The town is called “Boossa”, 7km from Galle.

🤣🤣🤣 50% of electricity in Srilanka generated by hydro power .by various resoveours. Balance by coal ,Deisel, wind and solar. Main coal power plant has developed a technical problem and due to the prevailing drought water level has gone down. Power cut isn't a regular thing in SRILANKA even the locals are feeling bad about it because we are not use to it. Hope now you understand why their s a power cut. . Have a nice stay. Sorry for the inconveniences.

I am a backpacker so I love all the budget stuff!! Not enough real budget travel content around. I appreciate the info. People gotta know that you don't need a lot of money to have amazing travel experiences. It's nice to see Molly again. Happy Travels

Good for you to keep on a budget and keep travelling around. Brilliant. I'm an older solo female traveller who likes to travel and I stay in budget accomodations also. I like guest houses where I get a real experience usually living with a family, but it is safe and make friendship easily

My first viewing of your work and glad I found it . If you are heading up to the hill country I strongly recommend Haputale . It is unique .Way up north -Jaffna is very different from the south . Less visited and consequently cheaper . Same story with Batticaloa in the east . Safe travels and good health .

Wow, lovely place to stay right by the beach how cool is that. It's nice too to have those bars for window lol if someone would dare to reach their hand in there would probably get it chop off lol.

Have you been to Sri Lanka brother? Accommodation isn’t as cheap as Thailand. Their going through the worst economic crisis in 70 years so it’s not getting an cheaper anytime soon.

Great tips but in terms of booking a room, we only ever use an online company in am absolute emergency.... Or we use them to find what is their cheapest accommodations/which areas of the town there in. Then we do the leg work on arrival taking it in turns to trawl the guest houses as the other sits with the bags (of course this is great when there are two of you)...... We've always found the cheapest room this way, cutting out the middleman makes for better negotiation on the ground. Equally, you can book a cheapie online and then find you don't like it for whatever reason..... If you do book online our suggestion to anyone would be to only book one night. Keep enjoying both of you.

We like doing this too but the past three places just told us to book online whilst we were at the desk! Never experienced that until Sri Lanka! It’s a good way of finding the guesthouses that aren’t online though and they’re always cheaper. I hope your well Gina 😊❤️

The power cuts are because there is not sufficient oil for the thermal power plants and Sri Lanka has a dollar crisis and cannot pay for oil imports. Furthermore the electricity board owes a lot of money to the petroleum corporation, so at one time the petroleum corporation refused to give oil for electricity. Powercuts are to save oil and not to save water.

There is no such a thing called "private beach" in SL, that is a illegal thing do by hotels near the beach. You can buy a land near the beach, but not the beach it self. Beach is a public property always. Beach is own by the coastal development. So don't get fooled by the hotels advertisements.

Most local is going through toughest life ever at the moment as severe economy crisis from irresponsible politicians. Enjoy the life, at the same time try to cover wide area of Srilanka, other than tourist spots

Yes of course, it’s a very bad situation for the economy right now. Coming from a country where rice and curry would be $10 per plate, Sri Lanka is very cheap. The whole premise of my KZfaq channel is to show travelers around the world that you don’t need to be rich to travel as long as you live like a local so I’ll always focus on the low budget side of life. The more travelers I can persuade to visit this beautiful country, the more money for the locals. If I persuade 100 people to visit Sri Lanka and they spend an average of $1000 then I’ve helped bring $100,000 into the country. 😊 I hope you’re well 🙏
