China has the will and the resources. They have a laudable number of successes uder their belt and a solid plan going forward. Whether they design it themselves or steal it, they will have the technology. Meanwhile in the West we are content to bicker among ourselves and print trillions to pay for nonsense. The overall strategy seems to be that the important things can wait. We'll just stall 'til the last possible moment, then trust in a Hail Mary pass to save the day. This is a bad strategy, IMO.

I believe in 2026 Elon should land Astronauts on Mars for the first go around then in 2028 ,begin constructing a small base big enough for 12 astronauts. Every 2 years ,increase the Mars population until a research base is established for 250 workers , scientist ,Cooks, Mars food farmers , communications specialist , DRs and list gos on. They should be there for 30 years or so studying Mars. If Elon wants to build a city on Mars then he better get realistic.

@@Earthmoonstars-el6rd Elon's goal is to get there safely, then get them back. The first loss of life in a major accident will be the Chinese, Elon has more empathy for people, and knows a major accident will ground his fleet. If we look at Elon's approach, the time it took Falcon 9 to succeed, following his blueprint for success, he will get there first, second for sure, unless NASA do the dirty and ground him so they win. The Chinese are yet to fail, or like the Longmarch that killed over 500 people in a nearby village, admit to failure. My money's on Elon 2030.

I hope this sparks another space race, the USA and China competing to see who can get to Mars the fastest. NASA seems to be going at a slower and slower pace (with things only picking up in the last few years) as the decades go by, so this could help speed up progress again. I want to see this competition with China motivate the USA and China to colonize Mars, it would be interesting to see another colonial era but this time no native people will be killed in the process. Both of those would make earth unusable for resources for humans, so even if they colonize a planet, the possibility of this planet's colony being self sufficient in a 25 year period (which I think's gonna be the time frame for either Putin deciding to nuke everybody, or a.i can significantly advance) is fairly low, so that's not really an argument.

it sounds like unhealthy competition if they are going to rush things, risking peoples lives just to be first is ridiculous if you ask me, this is where we as humans should just work together for a change maybe if all 3 organisations shared info and technology they would get there sooner with less risks to be had, it takes as long as it takes in the end of the day Mars wasnt built in a day :b

China likely to be first landowner on Moon and Mars. Very systematic. Now CNSA learning to assemble spacecraft now. By 2026 or earlier it could have assembled the earth and moon base station. Then the moon base by 2028, and Mars base by 2030. Just 1 or a few spacecraft using plasma propulsion. They will test on site the technologies. Going to moon takes 1 day. Mars will take longer, less than 1 year. Depends on the speed of the spacecraft, we shouldn't think of the old speed of 22,400 km/hr. It could travel faster. Very fast. 🤣👨‍🎓
