As an avid club penguin lover when I first discovered club penguin rewritten I became obsessed at the big age of 18- I’ll never forget logging on to that black screen saying it had been shut down by the London police, and then going onto Twitter so see everyone going into meltdown & that the creators were being held in custody 😭😭

Club penguin membership was unironically one of the gifts from my parents that I got the most enjoyment out of as a child. I played moshi monsters too but it could never hold a candle to club penguin. When it got deleted I had grown out of it, but now I'm older I'm honestly pretty devastated it's all gone; I would've loved to look at all the dinosaur puffles and dojo belts and drippy clothes I collected over the years to reminisce. I never played Club Penguin in my entire childhood and I felt guilty so I tried out Club Penguin Rewritten and I loved it, I really wish I could go back in time and try out the original version of it.

Club Penguin Legacy was a private server that was INITIALLY going to get shut down by Disney due to copyright infringement, but since the CPL team agreed to remove the ads from their website and run it entirely profit-free! I would check out the game, it's faithful to the older versions of club penguin! New Club Penguin is another private server, but I mostly go on Club Penguin Legacy since I don't have to download anything when I play that.

i vividly remember the amazing feeling of the subscriptions and holy fuck it felt good i remember my dad always brining me the memebership scratch cards from either toys r' us or gamestop until they started to phase the scratch cards out and print the code on a receipt which had a time limit but since my dad was an airliner pilot he would take too long to get home and give me the code so that's when i stopped having memberships it sucked so hard

What's interesting is that the team who worked on Club Penguin Island had so many more ideas that never got realized due to it closing. two that we know of was they were gonna bring back Puffles there was even concept art of how they would work. they even planed to bring bac Sensei

I have a vivid memory of coming home from primary school and being surprised by my Dad with a years club penguin membership because I got a good school report, up there with one of the best days of my life 😂

When I was 9 people would collect the cards in my class with massive booklets. The person who had the biggest collection was a boy with special needs. No one in the class knew what the code card in the pack would give u extra cards in the game so I would sneak into the class room at break and go through the plastic draws and quickly steal and replace them with a normal card.

I’ve been rewatching all the George and josh gaming videos from like 3 years ago lately so seeing this was a surprise.

To this day, i still miss club penguin so much. The game was a part of my life for 7 years when it shut down. I had the same account the whole time and had so much stuff. I hope they eventually bring it back one day

i never got to play the original club penguin, but i played rewritten for almost 5 years, so i can kind of understand the nostalgia people feel for it. rewritten was completely free, so it felt very accessible and i got so many things in the game. it hurt so much when it got shut down

I remember being in elementary school and having a really terrible case of pneumonia-- I couldn't go to school, do work, or even get out of bed to walk down the stairs to the kitchen. The only thing I had the energy to do was play club penguin, for hours on end every day in between meals, on my little laptop i could use while lying in bed or sitting at my desk nearby. My parents let me because there was literally nothing else I wanted to (or really could) do. It was truly what got me through those agonizing two weeks of near-hospitalization. I still remember my black t-rex puffle that I got during that time, since a dinosaur event was going on. That was nearly a decade ago. His name was Rex. I miss Rex. I wonder if he misses me too.

Remember the parties/events when the whole map would change and there’d be new things to do, like the medieval style where you’d fight dragons and the pizza restaurant became like a tavern. April fools day and halloween themed stuff. Remember the Elite Penguin Force spy stuff! Herbert the polar bear and all the missions! I remember when the orange puffles were released, best days of my life honestly. I remember in the old days they had a newspaper and you could submit jokes and ask for advice. I loved club penguin so much and would do anything to go back to being 10 years old and being so invested in this game 😭
