When I think of Hutt Navy for some reason I always thought Space Zeppelins.

I wouldn’t say the Hutts left the Battle of Nar Shaddaa entirely alone, they were definitely invested in the outcome. They were willing to leave Nar Shaddaa to its fate if necessary, but did take steps to try to reduce the chance of loss. Especially loss of Nal Hutta. The Hutts paid an enormous bribe to the Imperial commander for his battle plan to figure out and plan how to counter it, and also brought on Han Solo for advice in how to handle the situation since he was ex navy. They also hired a pirate fleet to defend Nal Hutta. The novel is pretty clear that they were concerned about Nal Hutta, and the Bessadi clan’s apparent disinterest later became a point of contention that earned them the ire of other clans (Bessadi was ordered to be spared by the Empire, the novel never says if they knew this, but the fact that every other clan apparently pitched in to help except them implies they did). Captain Renethal was the pirate fleet captain who was hired “to defend Nal Hutta”, but she felt defending Nar Shaddaa with the smuggler fleet was the most viable way to do that, and the Hutts didn’t object as far as *The Hutt Gambit* covers. There was also Jilliac’s well-armed personal yacht there, though it had been hijacked by Mako Spince. At the time *The Hutt Gambit* was written, the Hutts didn’t have a fleet, and relied on bribery more than power to repel threats. So their response was more lack of resources than lack of concern for their holdings. Crispin also tended towards writing smaller scale conflicts to begin with, so the biggest ships present for the battle are three DHCs.

As a huge Hutt fan, I appreciate the hell out of this video. I’d love to see more.

Hutt, hutt, hike! You knocked this one out of the park! I love hutt lore. One thing I learned from this video is that so much of it originates from "Lords of Nal Hutta." Are there any other sourcebooks that have good info on hutts?

Will definitely try to bring up Hutt military to my Edge of the empire campaign if it can be naturally touched on :) Probably a Majordomo or senior of a Hutt fleet grows sympathetic or is paid by or must escape an incriminating conspiracy so he offers the fleet to the Rebels in exchange for safety; my players in turn are hired to protect this guy to get him to a backwater safehaven where he probably wouldn't be found and could live in peace. This guy is not a good person though lol, but he's gaining perspective.

4:12 the Hutts DID hire some pirates on as mercenaries, but even they only had a few corvettes. (And originally weren't going to help defend Nar Shadaa at all till Han and Mako convinced them that they could best fulfill their contract to protect Nal Hutta by beating the Empire at Nar Shadaa)

So when are the Hutts being added to Thrawn's Revenge or FotR?

In one game we tracked several stollen warships to a hut deep space base. There were other ships there, some from other hut clans. We ended up blackmailing the hut, by threatening to reveal to other clans affected what he was doing in possession of their ships. This was most hut like behaviour and gained us much admiration as well as material wealth.

Specs on hut ships would be interesting but something I've always wondered was the specs on the cathedral ships.

Yeah well mandalorian designed ships, some other common ships used by Black Sun, & Pykes as well as the ships you mentioned here for the Hutts would make for a comparable Navy for the Shadow Collective, how bout them apples. You know there's ships out there that could very well be used to make a proper Navy for them.

Most of your information is no longer canon so what's the point and using it now that Disney has destroyed Star Wars.
