No fundo é como se eu, que nasci em 1968, tivesse escrito sobre o 25 de abril. Havia fontes da época e João de Barros é uma delas, fora as pessoas que eram do tempo das viagens à Índia e que no tempo de Camões, apesar de serem velhas, tinham memória disso. Sobre as histórias mais antigas, o que não faltava eram documentos, como as crónicas de Fernão Lopes.

Just for your information the last Arab Caliphate that's Abbasid was destroyed by Mongols in 1258 after which Arabs never again ruled any territory until the fall of the ottomans in the 1920's.
